You sure about no BAQ Airport pickup? I know for a fact that they will pick you up from CTG Airport, I know that is an exit point to BAQ, but for a few extra pesos still no way?

Pretty sure. Asked about it several times.
If you're expecting the COP25.000 (approx. $11USD) from BAQ airport to CTG, they don't offer that service at all. It is not on the way to CTG. In fact, it's completely out of the way. You can probably arrange for them to have a cab waiting for you at the airport, or grab one of the official cabs at the airport, to take you to their office (at airport rate - approx. COP18.000) until the next van is headed to CTG. Then you can take the shared van down to CTG. Will cost you about 1 hour in wait time, but save you over COP100.000 (or approx $43USD). That's money that can be spent on pussy.
If you want your own private cab to CTG from BAQ (including the airport) by Invertours, it can be arranged, but it will cost you COP150.000 (approx. $65USD).
From CTG airport to BAQ, no problem. They will stop for you. It's on the way out of CTG. Same COP25.000.
Final van from one city to the other city leaves at 6:00pm.
Thanks for the help guys. I did go through the threads and found the info. Looks like I'm gonna take a cab straight from BAQ to CTG just in the intersest of getting the vacation started. Will come back to BAQ a day early and spend the night at the American Golf. Once again, thanks for the legwork and sharing.
I'm not sure where the airport is. The bus station is in south BAQ. Buses run every hour to CTG for around US$3. And those buses are very luxurious. I much prefer the bus to Invertours. The bus will actually cost more than Invertours because of the taxi fares on either end.
so it is a bit further from airport to Cartagena. You almost always pay some premium for the convenience of airport pickup so what is the big deal?.
I picked up a shared cab from BAQ to CTG in January. On the plus side I think it was pretty cheap. I need to pay an airport cab to take me to the place where the shared cabs depart, so that added to the cost. Also, the driver drove pretty fast once we were on the main route. I was thinking the bus would not be such a bad option as we drove down the poorly lit turnpike at a good clip, passing the shadows of people and animals on the side of the road. The driver knew the road well, somehow knew to slow down for the barely seen potholes and patrols.
Another good point with taxis is you can chat with the taxista, who almost invariably is the mongering expert for either BAQ or CTG or both. Some Spanish is required, but not too much.
A negative for me was sharing the ride. It's not a big negative, but picking up an additional three riders can add time to the mix. Once I landed in BAQ I was ready for the traveling to be over and the mongering to commence. Picking up the three extra folks required some time in BAQ negotiating around pre-carnival parades and such. At that moment, I was ready to bail out on the shared taxi idea.
If you have any friends down there that you hadn't spoken to in a while, you might want to touch bases with them. Several neighborhoods in the northern part of BAQ (approx. calle 80-84, Carrera 30s) were damaged when a twister swept through on Fri. 9/15. This is a very rare thing in Barranquilla, according to a couple of my 30+ year old friends there. Neither could remember a tornado hitting there before.
I haven't kept up with the official record, but I believe one person died, and several were injured. Several houses and schools had damaged roofs. Utilities (power, water, etc) were lost for a while. One of my friends in Ciudad Jardin got her power back on Sunday, with her house suffering some roof damage. Some Dia del Amor y Amistad they had.
Another friend of mine who works near Villa Country in the Prado area had no idea what occurred while it occurred, until she was out with her friend delivering friendship gifts for her company.
Anyway, it sounds like all is pretty much back to normal, aside from the areas that suffered damage. I'm sure that you can go to www.elheraldo.com.co and do a search to find more info.
Just figured I'd pass it along to the board.
Just out of curiosity how do the girls in BAQ measure up to the ones in CTG and Cali?

Quite well.

Depends on what you're measuring. Be more specific in what you're looking for and I can assist with more detail. Here's my opinion by ranking.
- Normal, more-grounded girls on a whole
1. BAQ
2. Cali
3. CTG

I am more interested in the physical looks of the ladies as well as the friendlness and the ease of getting the panties off (non-pros of course)
I am attracted to that whole sofie vergara look. I dont like my chicks too dark.
Why do you think calenas are better in physical looks than barranquilleras?

What the fuck? Where did my message go?
I was quoting you to say that Calenas apparently have bigger breasts than Barranquilleras. and they are lighter skinned too.

Sofia Vergara is 100% Barranquillera. So is Shakira. So are the past and current Miss Colombia, Barranquilleras. Yeah, 2 years and running. This is not the typically look in Barranquilla, but it does exist there. Barranquilleras hold their own in looks with any city in Colombia. One of my ex-novias resembled Salma Hayek in the face and stature, but with Sofia V curves. It was fun while it lasted.
If you don't speak Spanish, stick to the pros. Non-pros will play you for everything from taxi fare, meals, drinks, etc, without you ever getting the ass. In Colombia, you must speak Spanish to get deeper than the surface.
I know a few ladies there, just friends, that physically (looks, body) could rival chicas in any city. University-educated, gainfully-employed, drama-free, down-to-earth chicas, in their mid-20s without kids, who know how to have a great time. We all go out together, they limit any spending on my part, esp. since I'm the guest. If I were to try for the panties, it would be a much more serious proposition involved. But it's more than possible.
Be that as it may, in the past when I met chicas online, or just a chica in passing who came to meet me when I returned to BAQ, I'm like 80% in getting in the panties. 50% of those were willing to give me the ass, literally. Seriously. No money involved, just closet freaks. I don't do online sites anymore, but it's not too difficult if you speak Spanish. I can't speak for anybody else, but that's been my experience. For that reason, I've rarely needed to monger in BAQ.
Cali is reknown as the spot for the most naturally beautiful of Colombianas, white, black, mixed, whatever. You walk the streets during the day, and will see some truly amazing-looking ladies. I would eat lunch on balcony and watch women headed to lunch or wherever and just be absolutely stunned by some. At night to watch these chicas dance salsa was ridiculous. My experiences in Cali are not as extensive as other cities. I just saw what I saw when I was there a couple of times.
Medellin gets it rep for hot chicas because whiter, or lighter, skinned chicas are in abundance there. There are plenty of beautiful ladies there. There's also a lot of silicone and surgery patients. Then there's the attitude and potential scam artists. It's just part of the culture there. Not my words, but any Colombian will tell you the same. LOL!!!
That being said, your preference might be better suited for Medellin, Bogota, Manizales, Pereira, Armenia, and Bucaramanga, moreso than Barranquilla or the coast.
Just my thoughts.
Hey thanks Hoofhunter, that was a brilliant read. Just a quick question? Whats the "typical" look in BAQ?
