Monterrey On-Point Economics...
Interestingly enough, one of the girls in El Infinito told me that her quota in the privados is (20) dances, and that she keeps half the fee, 25 pesos for a 4 minute dance.
Perhaps you know the answers to some questions Carlos, questions that have always nagged me. I realize things probably differ between clubs, but just general answers are fine.
Does the quota I was told, (20) dances, sound correct?
Does she always get her cut of the dance fee, even if she does not achieve the assigned quota?
If so, and she averages (4) dances per hour, such as on weekends, then she makes a damned good wage compared to normal Mexican wage standards. I suspect many of those girls average a lot more than four dances per hour on weekends.
In an eight hour shift, if her average remains constant, and it seemingly does especially on weekends, the (20) dance "Quota Girl" is earning a good wage, plus additional money for special favors in the privados, not to mention her salary. Something smells very fishy in Monterrey.
The girls are always crying poor. They are always worried because they are not making quota. But, many of them are in the privados a lot. I fail to see how they would not normally make quota, especially in a bar as populated at El Infinito. Plus, most of the girls remain in the privados for multiple dances with the same dude, with little or no time between new clients. Twenty dances seems like a cake walk.
If she achieves quota, what is the amount of her nightly salary, and does it directly accrue in addition to her earnings in the privados, 25 pesos per song?
All of this is profoundly relevant when calculating why a girl does or does not agree to go on salida, nothwithstanding all the other obvious reasons. A thorough understanding of the system is valuable in planning which days of the week to visit Monterrey, when to ask them to meet you after work, what you should expect to pay them on salida, what motivates the girl so you do not pay too much, but so you will know what to pay in order to pay just enough for future motivational effect, etc...
I also find it very surprising that most of the girls all quote the same girl fee, like they are in the union or something. You would think that the girl fees would be all over the board if the girl fees are left up to the discretion of the individual girls.
I've been able to get girls to go with me for 500 pesos on occassion, but the norm quoted is 1000-1200 pesos. The original quotation out of the box to newbies, or from girls that don't know me, is always 1000-1200 pesos, usually 1000 pesos. It seems like the actual fee you end up paying, once you become known, seems to be around 500-700 pesos, if they like you. But, there are just as many girls that only agree to go if you caugh-up the one thousand pesos.
USB says: the house gets the entire amount of the salida fee, 350 pesos for 1.5 hours. The girl gets nothing of the salida fee.
Carlos says: yes, the house keeps all the salida fee.
USB says: the salida fee is charged to the girl if she wants time off from the job after she has clocked in. It applies whether she wants time off from the bar to make money on some hotel action, whether she has to go the dentist, doctor, shopping, her kids, whatever the reason, they are charged the salida fee for being absent from work.
Carlos: Yes, but only sometimes... if business is good and the club is low on girls, they charge them. If the full manifest is present, they don't care and let them go, but sometimes the next day the girls have to work full quota with no salary.
The fun of the experience ...
Fantstic post Prtyr. It took me back to when I first visited MTY. My same reaction to the meat, both girls and steak. It was a once-in-a-lifetime first time experience. Such sweet memories.
Wasted
Far west has live music. Tonight they have 3-4 tejano groups playing. I may go there for a few beers etc.
I had the pleasure of meeting our distinguished monterrey native member carlos yesterday. We live in a small world as after I sent carlos a pm describing myself so when we meet up he would recognize me. . . . .he called my hotel a bit later and asked if I was at a bank in the morning. Totally freaked me out as I indeed did go to a bank with one of my clients. Turns out carlos was at the same bank and saw me there, not knowing who I was. Then when he read my description, he figured it was me.
I am heading out to eat now. Not sure if I will go to El gaucho or Hooters. . .lol. . . I am actually in the mood for wings, but the steak at gaucho was so good I am sort of torn. I will then most likely make a stop at the clubs and if I am up for it head to far west. I need to leave relatively early in the am so it will be a fairly mellow night.
Once again I want to thank carlos, USB, wasted and all the other posters for the info and advice. It certainly made my trip to monterrey more enjoyable!
