Should be PUTA Cana not PUNTA Cana
My experience in Punta Cana was very suprising. First of all, I went with my girl who is Dominican but has never been to the DR. She wanted a very authentic experience, which is kind of hard to get at an AI with all the tourists, so she became friendly with several staff members. She is very easy to talk to and she was able to extract a thorough behind the scenes understanding of what goes on in these resorts. Most of what I will share here was discovered though her gossiping with the staff members of our AI.
First of all, virtually every staff member who interacts with tourists (waiters, bartenders, dancers, animation team, but not maids and laborers) would like to arrange outside relationships with guests. This can be tricky because they can get fired for screwing around with guests. But at safe places off premises like discos in other resorts, staff members frequently hook up with guests. They are not exactly prostitutes since its not a clean transaction where they fuck and get paid right away. Its more like a week long fling where one partner gets some form of financial support from the other.
I was also surprised to see that there seemed to be more obvious female sex tourists than male. Looking at the dance floor in discos like Pacha with lots of locals, almost every woman out there was a middle aged or unattractive white tourist dancing with a Dominican guy way out of their league. Later you would see these girls leaving with the guys. I already wrote this report before I left, but had to add this little story. Waiting on line for our flight, a woman starts talking to us and explains that she is 40 and met a guy 12 years younger than her and she is totally in love. She speaks no Spanish and he speaks no English, but she could tell that they were made for each other. She fucks him for 8 days and then after she leaves he gets fired and loses his computer and you know the story. She comes back a month later and blah blah blah. I was about to slap her across the face and say wake the f up, but who am I to ruin someone’s fantasy. It seems like men find a puta, get the pussy and pay. Women get romanced, and end up paying money over time with wire transfers for emergencies, sick kids, etc.
I was even more surprised to find that many of the men working there are gay or bisexual. From what I saw, it’s probably easier for a homo tourist to get with a young Dominicano than for a guy like me to get with a female puta. The guys will fuck anyone for money, male or female. None of them seemed to be obviously gay in appearance of mannerisms since latin culture looks down on feminine and flamboyant gays. But my weak gaydar skills definitely went into effect a few times. At one club I was alone sitting at the edge of the dance floor. An early 20s fit guy sort of leaned over trying to get my attention and make eye contact with me. When I realized why he was leaning over, I looked away and he left. A minute later and he was romancing a woman on the dance floor. I wonder if she knows that her new man was trying to S my D a few minutes before she danced with him.
So in summary, the sex tourism industry in Punta Cana is way more complicated than a picking up a puta in a bar for an hour of sex. In fact, extracting money from overly sympathetic tourists seems to be a way of life here. Almost everyone seems to do it, and the men will even go homo to get paid.
(Sorry for the lack of concrete tips. Its just that the whole dynamic was quite interesting to learn about)
