I lived in Costa Rica for 13 years up until 2 years ago. Then I live in Medellin for 7 months. I can tell you a few things. Not everything. And I will make some subjective remarks also. A colonoscopy in Costa Rica costa costs $300+ any polups. In Colombia it is $180! Both are at top hospitals. Some medications in Costa Rica that cost $1. 00 per pill are almost $4. 00 in Colombia. Generally speaking. Brand name medications cost a LOT more in Colombia or are not even available. In my opinion Medical care in Medellin costs much less than CR. The quality. Give me Colombia anytime. The Medellin hospitals and clinics are 1st class. Maybe better than the USA. Maybe. I had a private health care policy in Colombia. Complete coverage for $210 per month. At 65 years old! It was the best insurance policy I have ever had.
The CR caja insurance is worthless. The Colombian 'caja' might be better. I say might be. The Colombian caja is good for immediate care. For long term it is questionalbe. Again. Bring your medication with you if going to Colombia.
How did you like living in Medellin? Tell us about it please.

(for that matter) Are your costs based on your age? I wouldn't mind getting some tests done when I visit in the Fall since the prices you quoted are way cheaper than in the US.
Does anyone have a referral who has had first hand experience with a dentist in Cartagena who specifically does cosmetic dentistry?
Your kindness in sharing this referral will be greatly appreciated!
Dental Spa in Castillo Grande is a first rate dental clinic Dr Covo speaks English and I highly recommend him! They have a website with pricing.
Dr Camilo Novoa Bolivar.
I have a few implants with crowns from Dr Camilo. Very satisfied paid $300/$350 each.
He has a nice clinic. He is a Professor of Implantology at Javeriana University.
Carrera 20 # 125-38 - Oficina 101.
Barrio: Santa beárbara Occidental Bogota.
Anyone have first hand experience with this? I googled a few clinics and they are selling services under $1000/ eye. Supposedly a Colombian doctor that started it all.
Anyone have any recommendations on places to get veneers?
I would like more information about how you were able to sort out your health care.
I'm going to jump in with I've found recently. There are some people who live in the USA, but have their private health insurance in Colombia apparently. They only get emergency care in the USA. If they require anything else the visit Colombia http://caliadventurer.com/health-insurance-in-colombia/ Seems pretty smart. Probably way better than going to the VA.
Will be in MDE when I am due for my periodic STI check. Any recommendations on where to get it done. I wanted to get it done in Angeles once and the doc I went to told me they just proscribe antibiotics at any suspicion of infection. I prefer to get the lab tests (reliably) completed.
Earlier this year I was in San Diego and on a Friday evening I had some pain in a molar. I needed a root canal and a crown. Searched around for dentists in Tijuana open on weekends and decided on a dentist office called "I LOVE MY DENTIST" excellent work done in a day. About $750 USD.
What I was most impressed with is that they had Computer Modeling of Crown meaning they didn't have to stick that modeling clay in your mouth to get an impression, they just carefully scanned with a camera. Additionally when it came to final fitting which is the most tedious and critical part of the affair where usually you have to bite down on a piece of carbon paper, tell them if it feels right, they grind some more ad infinitum after you already spent several hours in the chair.
With the computer modeled crown, it fit perfectly on the first go. I was amazed and VERY impressed.
Anyhow I would love to hear if there are any dentists in Medellin that use this process.
Cheers!
Can someone recommend a dentist in Medellin? Just routine stuff. The names in the forum are old. I appreciate your help. Traveling in December.
Thanks.

EQ.
I've used Clinica Artica. They're in Poblado area. They're a little more expensive than most places in the city but the office is nice and looks pretty new, and in a newer office building with a decent amount of security. They also speak English, which is another reason I went there. I can speak fluent Spanish, but when it comes to medical terms I want to be clear in English. And by a little more expensive I mean like maybe 60,000 COP more than other places, but that's really nothing for tourists. Look them up and message them on WhatsApp.
