Rio Othon Palace closing March 2011!!!
[QUOTE=Brasil is getting too expensive. I don't think that there will be a Help replacement unless the Dollar makes a come back.[/QUOTE]Remember, Help at it's height was fueled by a strong dollar, where 3-1 exchange brought you a lot of Rio. Now the dollar is sending guys like me to Sosua, Thailand and other mongering places. Instead of doing Rio 4-5 times a year, I may do it once maybe twice a year. Many mongers feel the same.
With less gringoes, the apartment providers will be hurt. And rightfully so, because they are now asking for deposits and copies of passports.
Restaurants will be hurt, because of less mongers. Therefore, waiters will not have gringos to pad the tab with false prices and gdp drinks.
Termas will to be hurt. Luomo, Solorium and Monte Carlo have mostly gringo business. Instead of going down in their prices to attract clients they go up. Now they are too expensive for locals. I go to these termas and I am the only one there.
Balcony is, too, hurting. Girls who use to be there before Help closed are not there. And the woman her are there are no where as fine comparing to Help woman. And it's cheaper to use a agenc like Karla models than pick up a girl from Balcony.
Lastly, 2010 was an eye opener for mongers who use US holidays to visit Rio. Now that these visitors have come to Rio, they will not return and confirm to other US mongers that Rio is dead. The same with europeans.
And for the apartment providers, most tourists will use hotels and not apartments. Unlike mongers who will go to VM for pussy, and not care about the locals, tourists will feel safer at hotels.
But many hotels are, too, closing. I got word that the Rio Othon Palace, next to Meia Pataca, is closing March 2011. So if hotels in Copa are closing, Meia Pataca will be the only restaurant on that block. And I do not think the owner will let the few gdps now there get in the way of getting regular tourists.
Rio Now has a woman President. Any thoughts?
Will she close the termas?
Mongers Give Rio - Pussy and accommodations are too high!
Rio I will reduce to 1 maybe 2 trips a year, because all the locals are in this "fuck the gringo". A fellow travel agent here in Los Angeles is Brazilian, and he came to US at 21 now he's 42. He is from Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in Rio. The Balcony and Dolce Vita girls tried R$200-R$300 on him. By the time he was done he paid "R$80" and at "termas centaurus " it's the same. It's the favorite for locals because the owner hates gringos and charge them more twice. The get away with it because you will never get this info. The owner and my friend's family are close and barbeque at each others house. The Ipanema and Copa termas owners do not like gringos and love taking the money!!! Even the little discount for early birds is far over what locals pay. They treat all gringos the same. If you are not brazilian you get "shaken down"! From the shoe shine boy to the crooked cop, and the gdp and terma owner is in the middle.
So gringos should just cool and try other parts of the world like Medellin, Pattaya, Sosua, or anywhere in Brazil. But give Rio a break until they appreciate the gringo client. But some monger will think with his lil' head and figure he can't do without Rio, empowering the Rio asshole locals.
