3 days in Bangkok, 7 in Pattaya is a very reasonable distribution of your time:
In Bangkok, stay in a guest-friendly hotel in the Sukhumvit area - read the Bangkok Hotels forum for all of the good choices in whatever price/class range you wish. The must see venues in Bangkok are Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, the Soi 7 Beirgarten, as well as a Soapie Massage and a full service oil massage. If a 3-some with ladies who are also into each other is your thing, add Eden Club to the list. Patpong is mostly a rip-off, except for the Star of Light BJ bar.
In Pattaya, there are so many venues where there is amazing action that I wouldn't want to limit you. There are lady bars everywhere, there are massage places everywhere, there are a gazillion Go Gos on Walking street, and I have personally found that some of the very best ladies can be found along the sidewalk on the beach side of Beach Road between Soi 7 and Soi 13/4, for remarkably cheap prices (like 500 baht for short time).
As a newbie, the most important advice I can give you BY FAR is, DO NOT FALL IN LOVE!!!!!!!! The girls don't love you, they love your money, and the fact that you will lavish it on them. They are highly skilled at playing guys in your situation. If you are thinking you are falling in love, take a step back, and go find other ladies - you'll fall in love just as quickly with them, and there are ALWAYS more, prettier, friendlier, better, sexier ladies to be found at the next bar or go go.
That’s a very-very informative response to a newbie usual questions.
All the juice of many visits to BKK and Pattaya in a few words.
Very well done.

Real thanks again.
I also agree with Gringo. Concise and very informative.
As a newbie you wade through the page but you get inundated with data and trying to change that to a concise piece of information can be difficult. You narrowing down helped me with my last piece of research for bangkok.
So for Bangkok, i'm staying in Dream. The rooms we on a deal on Expedia at 25% off. Much cheaper than at the hotel website. This is for the first 3 days.
I'm then going to stay in Pattaya for 6 nights. Haven't booked yet. Looked at the SAbai Lodge and looks great. They also talk about the Sabai Wing. Any ideas? Also, in the Sabai Lodge does it really matter what pool. Is one cut above the rest?
Final night in Bangkok i'm staying in the Dynasty. Deluxe room was 40% cheaper than the majestic so i took your advice.
Thanks again
Paul
Popper8469,
Other folks I know speak very highly of the Dream - I personally have not stayed there. I personally feel that the Dynasty Grande and Majestic Grande are better values than the Landmark, but I have not stayed at the Landmark either. All 4 of these choices are very well located. I personally don't mind a bit of a walk, and I really like the CitiChic, as a very nice bargain in a brand new boutique hotel, but it's a 10 minute further walk, or a 40-baht cab ride to the action compared to those other choices. For my money, If I were in your shoes, I'd pick whichever is cheaper out of the deluxe rooms at the Dynasty Grande or Majestic Grande. But the reality is, of those 5 places, there are no bad choices. All of these except for the Landmark are quite new - and IMHO, the Landmark is starting to show it's age and could use a bit of a refreshing - 10 years ago, it was regarded as the best place in the area.
As for Pattaya, I tend to like to stay away from Walking Street (for 10 baht each way, you can hop on the Baht buses that circle the main part of Pattaya). For me, I like either the Sabai Lodge, or, as a bargain, the affiliated Sabai Inn right across the street. If staying at the Sabai Lodge, don't get the cheaper rooms, as they're not so good, the rooms at the Sabai Inn are better and cost less. But the nicer rooms at Sabai Lodge are a cut above (but will also cost more). Other folks may have other preferences in Pattaya - but I find that being near the Big C mall is very practical, and it's so easy to get to Walking street by Baht bus that there is no real benefit in being there, and the noise might keep you awake at night.
As for not falling in love, and not being a butterfly, I try to strike a balance. The ladies I really like, I generally see 2,3, or 4 times. But I don't really let it go further than that, and I don't mislead them into thinking it's anything more than it is.
El Greco,
Totally agree. Has put my mind at rest and has helped me zone into specifics.

Popper,
All of the pools in the Sabai Lodge are nice. The main rooms to avoid are the Superior rooms by the Dolphin Pool, and the cheapest Deluxe rooms by the Large Pool. Those rooms are the oldest in the place and a bit dark, and they are not as nice as the less costly, larger rooms at the Sabai Inn. Any of the rooms over 2000 Baht at Sabai Lodge are fine. The Sabai Wing looks very nice from the outside, but I've not seen the rooms inside - as they are new and among the most expensive rooms at the hotel, I have no doubt that they are nice. Some folks I know really like the Cottage rooms by the Dolphin Pool. They have front porches that basically serve as grandstand seats to the Dolphin Pool, which is very nice (It was recently re-finished), and you can easily order food and drinks from the Dolphin Pool bar without getting out of your seat. Those rooms or the new Sabai Wing rooms ought to be good choices. Last month, I stayed in the Sabai Inn, and hung out most afternoons at the Sabai Lodge Dolphin pool with some other folks I met on the trip. I also think that the Sabai Lodge's Sala Thai restaurant is one of the better Thai restaurants in Pattaya, and quite reasonably priced. Their menu and kitchen is the same one that all the various Sabai Lodge Pool bars serve from.
Thanks again. Think i'm going to take the Dolphin Cottage. Sounds good and agree about away from the hustle and bustle.
Real thanks and i post a report late March.

Hi Gents!
Has anyone successfully booked an apartment or hotel for one or two month in BKK?
- Where?
- How much low budget?
- Gf friendly?

Rates for a room per month can be as low as 2000baht! But try to go for the higher range like 500-15000baht per month as you gain access to more facilities and better furnitures, securities, laundhry, room and location. What you can do is to stay a night at budget hotel and checkout upon getting the apartment.

Hello to all,
First i would like to thank to all of you for your posts. As a newbie, I pretty much have an idea of what to do and where to do in Thailand by your posts.
I am departing for my first trip on the 9th of February. I planned my trip with a agancy. I got the tickets and the hotel together from them as a package. The cheapest airline ticket I could find was 650Euros including tax but with the package i paid 659Euros including the hotel.
Now I have to choose the hotel I will stay in both Bangkok and Pattaya. There are 2 hotels in each city to choose from.
In Bangkok the hotels are River Side and Twin Towers. I google maped the locations and Twin Towers is closer to the action ( 4km to Nana Plaza). But I have no idea how girl friendly they are. Has anyone stayed at one of them. Which one I should choose.
And in Pattaya the choises are Crown Beach and Aiyara Palace. They are both close to beach road and walking street but also no info for girl friendliness.
Please help me asap. I have to inform the agancy of my choise.

google some of the reports, somerset, ascott, citadine, adelphi, legacy, etc... Compass Hospitality is the one operating group (adelphi, legacy) etc... There are hundreds of serviced apartments in bkk, plus many boutique hotels offer discounts for long stays.
Adelphi and all somersets in BKK are girl friendly, etc...
Have any one stayed in this Hotel?
http://www.everrichinn.com/index.html
I have never stayed there but I do get my clothes made either at the tailor on the premises or at Ricky's on the same side of the street. I have toured the rooms before. The pictures on the website are accurate. I think it is a pretty nice place, especially for the money. The only thing I do not like is the size of the rooms, which is actually not bad. But it kind of appears crowded with the size of the furniture. Maybe it is just I am used to the spaciousness of the Nana. Overall though, I am sure that Ever Rich would get more stars.
Following the link of everrichin, there is the suggestion of this Hotel, they have some hot deals(no refund of reserve), at 2100 THB, that really seem impressive.
Does anyone knows well this Hotel ? Is it superior or equal to the Dynasty Grande ?
And of course, is it GF ?
Thanks

Montecristo
I've stayed there. It's nothing special. I'd say a step down from the Majestic Suites. Nowhere near the Dynasty Grande. I think I paid 1400 baht. It's also got many rooms with nary a window. It "is" close to the action, though.
OH, and yes, it's GF.

Everrich Inn:
I've stayed there for 1 night when the Majestic Suites was booked. It's as good as any of the < 1500 baht places other than the Majestic. I'd say it's pretty good, not great, but fine for 1-2 nights max. Anything longer and the room is too small and too spartan. But it's guest friendly, clean, and very well located. Certainly nowhere near as nice as the Dynasty Grande - not even close to the same class, but it's also half the price of the Dynasty Grande.
I think Montecristo was intending to be asking about the Grand Mecure Park Avenue but didn't make it as clear as possible.
I was asking for the Mercure, in Sukhumvit Soi 22 !
Their 2100 price seemed very atractive, but may have some problems like being non GF
I think the answers were about everrich
