What's Your Favorite Flavor of Kool-Aid?
As usual Sr. Loaf is pretty much dead on the money. I would have to say that I stronly agree with 70% of what he writes and somewhat agree with the other 30%.

Before moving here, Nicaragua, I assumed that the population would be skinny due to their lack of money. I was wrong! These motherf*ckers are fat! These Nicas are grueso (thick.) These Nicas are 5'8" - 6'2". These chavalas are grueso. These chavalas have panzas (gutts.)
Eating fried rice 3 times per day. Eating fried bread-products. Drinking beer. Drinking rum. Drinking soda. Eating beans everyday for life. Drinking leche (milk.) They love bread! Pico, pan simple, rodillos, etcetera will stack the pounds.
Honestly, they eat better than the majority of the USA population. The USA eats non-balanced meals: USA eats bullsh*t food. Nicaragua eats a balanced diet, high in starch (grain products) and well balanced.
Typical meal:
Breakfast: leche, pan, queso, huevos.
Almuerzo: beans, rice, steak / chicken / pork., vegetables.
Cena: beans, rice, pan or tortilla, cole slaw, steak / chicken / pork.
It's the best meal for US $1.50. (Nicaraguan diet is a thousand times better than Mexico. Nicaraguan diet has less variety than Panama. Nicaraguan diet gets real boring after a few weeks. Nicaraguan diet has little variety: SURVIVAL.)
Thea average Hombre Nica has 200 lbs. plus, and is shorter than USA. They have "meat" covering every limb, bone, and body part. They carry about 20 -50 pounds of weight / fat in their gutt. Girls: 10 - 30 pounds of weight / fat in their gutt. If you don't like fat girls, don't come to Nicaragua!
There's a Reason Nicaragua is Nicaragua
the bullsh*t will get to you sooner or later!
there's a reason why expats reside in guadalajara, acapulco, d.f., cancun, costa rica, panama, medellin, cartagena, rio de janiero, sao paolo, buenos aires, santo domingo, virgin islands (u.s. & british,) san juan, ocho rios, montego bay: infrastructure, support network, and previous inhabitants expereince.
nicaragua is the location for the "diy." do-it-yourself. there is none of the above here.
5,000 gringo residents. 70,000 tourists per year, and this includes transients via bus lines and connecting flights and boats.
as the "lone wolf," the society will bleed you, extract all they can from you, and leave you dry when your time of assistance is needed.
this is nicaragua: they can't help themselves, less you!
nicaragua is cool for a short-vacation, pre-paid, but beyond that your only existence is foreign direct investment with zero (0%) ror (rate of return.)
forget about making money here; forget about finding your next wife here; forget about improving society here; forget about all of the things that makes a gringo go abroad. for all of those desires, contributions to the community, etcetera are being performed in the above locations and with the prequisite support and desire. here, the desire is to fleece!
fellas', don't attempt to diy. it can't be done, and if so you're loosing on the ror.
100% cash-in-hand: what are you going to do when the atm card is lost, stolen, or damaged? who will you call until the replacement is issued in 10 days? who among your "peers," (and we know that few peers exist) can aide your distress. us $100 per month:
there's reason why no other international sex guide contributor "blew-up" the nicaraguan thread before i. reason being, they're intelligent, and meat loaf is 100% diy.
when the alcohol, sex, and drug usage (not that i endulge) are over, nicaragua is still just one step above haiti!
that's today's rant and may this post be the most useful of all 600 meat loaf posts.
I made it here in one piece
Hey, Mr. Meat Loaf,
I am here, in your beautiful city! I drove from Atlanta. I did not know when I would be here so I did not email you in advanced. I am at the Crown Plaza, but only for one night. I did not know where to go. I will be here a couple of days or? How do I find you? Lets have some fun? Help me find nice girl and a more moderate priced hotel.
You can email me [blue][/blue]. Or find me at the hotel. My big red Suzuki is parked it main entry area. I have a membership and I went to use the pm and it wanted to charge me another membership. Go figure.
Hope to see you, Martin

There's a Reason Nicaragua is Nicaragua
No offense Meatloaf...
but the Nico Times states that in 2008,,,Tourism Still A Bright Spot, Up 7% in 2008
Specifically, they state:
In total, 857,480 international tourists visited Nicaragua in 2008, up from 799,996 tourists the year before.
Quite a contrast as to what you quoted.
70,000 vs 857,000

Thanks for the Clarification

Eric7,
Good Job! I have so many stats and facts that I sometimes get confused. Thank you for the clarrification and research. I don't want to mis-represent facts. I'll leave that to Obama.
