Feudin' 'n Broodin' in Paradise
Negatives: You will need to depend on the Bear and his demeanor for your every move, and shadow him, often to his job, unless you want to venture into the street alone like one horny guy did on a Saturday night when the Bear needed to hibernate.
In my experience, I was very well looked after. Yes, I sometimes shadowed him on his job but then again I wanted to since I wanted to get a glimpse of aspects of Haiti you never see. I got to see the infamous Cité Soleil and lived to tell the tale. I got to see some of the sugar plantations (and former plantations) as a result and I was able to talk to some interesting people (in Creole, of course).
One time, when Big Bear was definitely indisposed (his foot was really hurting him), he had a friend take me out to troll. I don't know the circumstances of the other guy that ventured out but, in my case, I was never out of luck. It is safe there but you should always be very careful in any big city at night.

If you like discos or bars, forget it. No car? Good luck picking up girls. Lights out 11pm and no loud music.
I am sure they exist but there are no bar like the kind you find in Sosúa or what you come across in the Philippines, to be sure. However, it is a different experience at Haiti House.
I see no need to have music blaring out of my room at night anyway and there were never curfews as far as I was concerned. Lights were on as late as 1 o'clock and could have been longer had I wanted to do so.
If your girl eats more than a crouton... I'ts on you, dude
.
That is logical. When I was there, the girls really chowed down, especially Ayyyypapi's chicks if I may say so. There was food in the kitchen and when you have two or three of Ayyyypapi's girls plus my one, the food supplies ran down quickly. However, I think a lot of that could have been controlled.
If a girl stays overnight expect a fight unless agree to Sosua price (around 50 bucks; BB says that's not so. But it's so), or you are here chronically like I was and treat girlfriends like real girlfriends.
About 2,000 gourdes was the usual price but my problem was that some mongers would pay way over that which, in turn, made it unnecessarily more expensive for me. Hopefully, that is or will be solved.
These nearly invisible lightning fast mosquitos are f_k'n NASTY. I bought insect repellant clothes which they laugh at. No screens on the windows . I came down with myocarditis and who knows why... (I really don't know!) >>> Hospital. My visiting dominican gf came down with salmonella >>> Hospital. So don't take possibility of wild diseases lightly. One guy brought "just in case" malaria pills. I guess you would have to call him "smart".
I never had any problems with mosquitos nor did I ever remember any problem. Of course, I was only there for about 10 days. The screens would not be a bad idea in any case. In any case, you have to take the same precautions that you have to take for any visit to a tropical Third World country.
I am sorry that this feud has come out in the open. I saw it simmering in August but hoped that logic would prevail. I like Big Bear and Ayyyypapi a lot but they are so different in every conceivable way that it is hardly surprising it came to this. However, I can vouch for Big Bear and Haiti House. The proof is that I am going back there this summer instead of going to Sosúa. That speaks volumes.
Now a picture since this is the photo thread.
