Relaxedinmd / Credit Card
So, I'll start by saying I should have done a bit more RTFF before venturing out. After some pleasant experiences in Beijing, I ran into some trouble in Shanghai about. Went to a KTV and after a very short time decided to leave. The "bill" was no where near what was discussed and the more I protested, the more large and angry looking Chinese men showed up. The whole thing set me back over $1, 000 USD. I put it on a credit card (cause I certainly didn't have that kind of cash on me). Has anyone else made this mistake before? Any luck protesting the charge with the CC company? I scrawled a very illegible signature and they did not imprint my card (although they did swipe it). I'm so pissed at myself right now and am hoping there may be some form of recourse.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Dear Relaxedinmd,
1, 5 years ago when having a business trip to Shanghai the same happened to me (when I told them that I do not want the girl to go with me they suddenly served heaps of fruits and drinks. I immediately said I leave; the bill was 10x higher than what I ordered). Sumo ringer behind me. Finally paid by cc, using a wrong signature. Back home in Good Old Europe I refused the payment of this cc invoice.
Story: "I ordered the bill and did the fault to already hand over the card upfront, then they came with this much to high amount, I refused to sign the slip and finally negotiated that they can get all my cash money; unfortunately they did not give me back the already created but NOT signed slip. " I had to make a police note in Germany. Finally got the money back.
Hope this helps you. Good Luck! Shamuc
I think your cc company will help

This sounds like a thuggy variant of the "Shanghai Teahouse Scam," where some pretty young thing shows you around town and finally to a teahouse, where she orders things off a Chinese menu you can't read and are presented with an astronomical bill. I think I've heard of people involving the police and/or their credit-card companies to get the charge nullified.
trip to Shanghai - freelancers ?
Hi guys,
After my stay in Zhuhai, I'm off to Shanghai.
As my first visit to sauna wasn't too successful (see my report in the Zhuhai section), and as my mandaring language skills are almost zero, I think I'll stay away from saunas for the time being (also RTFF about LE going to saunas).
I might try to find a freelancer in the discos on Tongren Lu or similar places or in my hotel (staying in a hotel near Peoples Square). Any specific recommendations? I have a week spot for the philippinas, but any other GFE-like girl is ok.
Thanks,
F
