LDV New Minimum Drinking Rule 100, 000 COP
Basically, the waiters and Mr. Aldo keep an eye on girls who sit with customers. When you pay your bill the waiter will know very well how much you spent. Now, if the girl leaves with you, not meeting the minimum drinking requirement, they won't stop her. However, next time she shows up Mr. Aldo won't let her in and ban her for a few days.
I stayed with one very sweet girl for a few days, before she went home to some small town in the south; I asked her all about the LDV stuff we keep reading. She told me something like "Aldo mucho molesta las chicas." that he keeps telling them to get customers buy drinks. He also demands when they don't have customers for the night to show up at 3am at Electra. If girls don't comply with his demands he will penalize them like not allowing them into LDV for 2 days or so. I also asked her if "Aldo, mucho tiempo a la casino" and she said like "si, mucho, mucho, mucho, todo dia."
There seem to be also a good amount of regular girls that show up at LDV every night and who don't seem to have to meet these minimum criteria, as they seem loyal to Aldo anyway. I think he enforces these rules only on the chicas who show up once in a while, or who come to town for a few weeks to make money and leave. At least that's how I observed it.
How do they enforce this new minimum alcohol amount at LDV? I am still a bit confused as to the change.
Looks like someone needs to make a new free lance spot.
Anyone know if the strip club Lucitania is still closed in Barranquilla?
No Alcohol Weekend. Elections
So in case you didn't know, Colombia serves no alcohol during election weekends. This just happened in Cartagena, electoin day, I believe for a new mayor. Yesterday, I was wondering why the supermarket had marked off the alcohol area; today I was wondering why it was all empty on Plaza Coches, Fidel closed, Tu Candela closed, in fact all of centro historico was super quiet. All bars, clubs were closed, including LDV. Finally I asked the portier at my apartment building and he told me.
New Advice about ATM cards
I arrived in Cartagena yesterday, went to the ATM to get money to get a taxi to the apartment. The ATM would not take my credit card. Had to take the $40 us dollars to exchange to get pesos for taxi. I tried another ATM near the apartment, and again it does not work! So I try an online transaction with my ATM card on Amazon. Rejected!
I had called my Bank a week before and told them when I was traveling to Colombia! And yet they still froze my card. I use verizon cell phone and it does not work in Colombia. So I was stressed. Then I finally realize that I can use Skype (I used a credit card to add minutes because they charge for calls to a phone) because I discover that my laptop has a built in microphone (I got lucky). So I call the bank. And after waiting on hold and asking what use was it ti call them and tell them that I am going to be traveling if they are going to sabotage my trip! Eventually they ask me to verify that I tried to used the card at an ATM in Colombia and they release the freeze on my card.
This was my third trip to Cartagena and I have been to Italy, Mexico, France, Thailand, Tanzania, and Kenya. Used my ATM card every where without a glitch. And on my Third trip to Colombia and after I called and told them that I was going to Colombia. They froze my card.
So for anyone coming to Colombia I advise to bring backup cash to exchange and some plan to call your bank if they freeze your card
