On a recent trip to Cuba, I made sure that I got my (European) passport stamped by immigration guy in Havana airport upon arrival. He seemed a bit surprised, but after the indescribably rude way in which I'd been treated by a bunch of ignorant cops in Newark "Liberty" airport (pass me the sick bag, please), a few days before, I was thouroughly hacked off with US immigration and in no mood to co-operate. Sad to say, on return through MIA, the official didn't even notice the stamp. Oh well, one small blow for freedom went wide...
For all you good folks with US passports, I'd be real careful -- I heard some stories about some guys being hung out to dry by the administration upon their return to mainland USA.
BTW, I bought my ticket through Nash travel in Toronto and can recommend them and their services -- they were friendly, very helpful and right on the button with everything.

Nash is ok, but one of the girls that works there is rude. Use the Ukrainian guy. They have a hard time making connections, this is the difficult thing. Plus they cannot book Cubana directly. They must make a call and wait for a day or two until Cubana calls them back. So you give Nash a couple of days when you want to go and then see what they can get for you. Then you book your connecting flights and hope there is a seat at a reasonable cost to where you connect to Cubana. Bush is an asshole, #1 world terrorist and worse than Fidel to make people's travel so difficult.

Doc Bill;
You are right about the fully hosted "problem" however before it even gets there they need to show you were in Cuba. If you don't have anything to ndicate being there and don't say anything, there is little chance of getting busted.
Cancun seems to be the best route. I know one guy who made a (non-confirmed) reservation at a Cancun hotel and then printed out the "confirmation" page and had it ready in case he was asked, which he never was.
And if asked where you were, it's always good to say you were with your friend "Jose Cuervo" or Sr. Frog and smile.
My two pesos worth.
Spock.

Thanks, Spock! I guess the Che Guevara t-shirts will have to wait. Actually, do you know the name of a hotel in Cancun I can say I stayed at? The only other issue I'm a little paranoid about is the Mexican entry/exit stamps on my passport when going to/from Cuba. How to explain that, if asked?
At any rate, I'm going, May 7-17. Anyone else?

Hello, will anyone be in Havana next week? Care to meet up and combat together? I watch your back and you watch mine.

Hi all,
I am going to Havana tomorrow morning (April 23) for 11 days.
So like many of the older and experienced mongers, I am counting the hours to be released from the Sex Prison. I have about 36 hours left.
-
Hi there fellow mongers,
I am currently living in Canada and I am planning on visiting Cuba this year for the first time, can anyone point me in the right direction as to where is the best place to go for chicas as I will only have a week and want to maximise my time without doing to much guesswork, any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks to all and safe and happy mongering..........:)
-
Is it true that some chicas will accept hosiery, and in return "be with you" all night? I will be going to Varadero, and if this is the case, then I will be doing some "shopping" before I leave.
-
You can take down the whole Hanes factory and you won't get laid in Varadero, except maybe by some vacationing Canadian housefrau. It's a dead zone.
Light out for La Habana at the first opportunity. I don't know any chicas that will sleep with you for hosiery, but if you're a decent guy you'll find some chicas that will sleep with you and appreciate the hosiery.
-
I have been to Cuba many times, although with a treasury license. I have not been as much the past few years because there are other places easier for mongering and Cuba has just lost the appeal for me.
I agree with sanitizing the paper work. "Lose" your passport in Mexico and go back through with a birth certificate and DL. There is one piece of evidence OFAC can use, which is more difficult to sanitize. Customs and foreign governments, including Cuba, can share information on a flight's manifest, including names and passport numbers. This is being done to fight drugs and terrorism. Chances are OFAC will not go to the trouble, but the information is certainly out there.
Go and have fun. I wouldn't sweat it at all.

Montrealer,
In general the answer is yes. However it is by no means restricted to an single item: all cosmetic type products are welcome. I must tell you however that its not as simple as it sounds, obviously you need to be reasonably as a man, be ready to be the gentleman etc… and may still need to pay something.
As to your going to Varadero, forget the above. Locals seen to be fraternising with tourist risk a lot and so, even if you come across any genuine locals (!) it is going to be hard mongering. For pay for play, I have no doubts that every master here will tell you the same: Varadero is NOT the place to go. Venture into Havana for a couple of days (a few hours by taxi particular, cost about $50 US, cheaper if you can negotiate) and your mongering will be made a little easier.
Please remember what knowledgeable masters like DocBill and others have said in the past: Cuba is not a good place for mongering. Reading past reports will also tell you what you need to take, specific gift wise.
Best wishes, Havanaman

And by the way, if you haven't noticed, Cubanas don't wear stockings. With legs like that they don't need to!
