sugenman,
It is sometimes difficult and embarassing to find Thai girls who will do specifice acts due to the communication barrier. If you are in a gogo bar and ask the mamasan, they will help you but sometimes find your request funny and tell all the girls who laugh about it! If you ask the girl you're interested in it is hard to know if she fully understands if her English is weak. I prefer to ask the girl and use body language at the same time, like by putting my hand on her butt. How do you convey deepthroat? I don't know! I once used pictures from a porn magazine in one foreign country to show the street girls what I wanted. But you have to be very careful with this and consider the country you are in!!!! Try to find another sex tourist who knows some Thai, I had no problems finding help when I wanted to express a more complicated idea to a Thai girl.
Firedick, I completely understand why many prefer to pay bar fines and ST rooms since the idea is to bang the girl you want when you are horny. But for those with time (weeks as opposed to days) I recommend writing down phone numbers of all girls you like (in gogos, bars, or anywhere else). I got into the pattern of calling a girl before she got to work (3-5PM) and taking or calling another one late (2AM) and going to my hotel. This saved me 1800 bhat a day in barfines and ST rooms. 1800 bhat/day is nothing to you? That is great, but I believe many aren't in that enviable position!

Joe_zop,
Glad you finally made it out of CM. I thought you were going to stay there until your time was up...
There are loads of great little beaches in Phuket, I would have mailed you the specifics, but the gawddamn Yahoo won't let me write mails.
A nice way to turn any bar/gogo girl into very-accomodating-mode is to bring them out to Laem Phromthep at sunset. Very romantic, tho probably hundreds will be there...
And Joe, please, even in Patong barfines are B200 and LT B750 max!
Y'all,
December 30 is now a public holiday too. So, if you plan to do ANY travelling from December 29-January 3, get reservations well in advance or forget about it all together!
Unless you want to be transported like canned sardines, that is:D!
-
Freeler -- no, I was always planning to run out of CM; just took me longer than I expected (though I'm still planning to head back in a while.) Thanks for the advice on Laem Phromthep and it's something I'll try if I have the chance, though I'm actually not all that fond of Phuket to tell the truth, at least not Patong. Not sure I'm going to stick around to explore all that much, but my plans will be clearer tomorrow night.
And the 500b bar fine was what I was quoted in all of the gogo I've visited here, and some of the ST/LT quotes there were far more outrageous -- beer bars are less, of course, in all ways, and are likely more where I'll be hanging from this point on.
-
Joe_zop,
Phuket is nice!
Patong is by far the worst part of the island...
Other towns, like Karon or Kata, are smaller, quieter.... better!
Just get yourself a B200/day motorbike (HondaDream, not one of those big suicide machines!) and drive around.
You'll love it.
A daytrip to JamesBondIsland is great too. Never mind it's touristy. It is touristy because it is a GREAT site to visit!
Yes, they will drop you of at your hotel in time to do some early evening barhoppin'.

joe_zop,
Don't get disillusioned by the prices. Patong is generally more expensive but 200 Baht BF in a bar and 400 Baht in a GoGo is all I have ever paid.
Try hanging around Soi Bangla, or the supermarket at the junction with Rat-u-Thit road, after closing time at 2:00 AM if you have the patience. Anything with tits and two legs was available for 500 Baht back in February.
IMHO, Soi Sea Dragon is by far the best of the soi's. Great choice of beer bars or GoGo's. Over the last 3 years it has also generally had a good selection of lookers as well. My approach is just to relax, drink a beer and scout out a girl I like. Freeler?s suggestion on collecting phone numbers is a great idea. 1800 Baht is more beer than I can drink in a night, even at Phuket prices!
I now get free sex whenever I am in Patong, not from a bar girl, but from a "normal" Thai girl who works as a cashier. OK, not exactly free, there are some overheads (presents, trips to Krabi, Ko Phi Phi, etc.)!
I just find the beaches, diving, and day trips available in Phuket so much more relaxing than BKK or Pattaya. It costs, but there?s a lot of shit in BKK that will set you back more than anything I have ever done in Patong Beach.
Oh yeah, and don?t miss Christen?s for a massage. Not up to the best of BKK, but still very good. And you can be lying on a beach drinking fresh coconut milk the next morning. Try that on Sukhumvit.
Steve
(P.S. where is the PS hotel?)

Tonydasnake,
Your point is well taken. I am still in the more cash/less time available group. But that will change in a few years. Enviable position ? I'm not so sure, sitting here in front of my damn computer on the wrong side of the Pacific !
Toy Boy,
I agree 100%. Soi Seadragon is a lot of fun. Is Amigo's Bar still open ? Have you done much diving this year ?
Don't give up yet Joe ! Freelers right about the bike too. I did a 400 cc "cafe racer" last time. Waste of money. The little 110's are perfect for Phuket.

Firedick,
I fully intended to make at least 3 trips to LOS this year, but pressures of work reduced this to 3 weeks in February. Not been back since :-(
I can't remember Amigos. My fave place is the Navy Bar, especially young Katai (Tai to her friends) if she is around. Moody, won't do anything too kinky, but a 9/10. PP GoGo is also fun.
Diving was great 10 months ago! Should be fine in 2 months as well, if I can force myself to get out of bed in time and shake the stale beer from between my ears. There's just too much to do in Phuket.
Fully agree on the small Hondas versus the big bikes. Bike crashes are the main cause of expat deaths in Phuket and run at one a week on average I believe. My girlfriend managed to cream herself on her little scooter during Songkran. Cost me 10,000 Baht to get her repairs sorted out. She'll pay in full early next year though when I return :-)

Don't get me wrong -- Phuket is truly breathtaking and marvelous; I'm just not a big one for huge crushes of tourists everywhere I go. Probably also why I'm not a huge Pataya person, and can only take short stops in Bangkok. I just prefer a bit more of a mellow experience, which may be why I like Samui, and why I'm thinking of a trip to Ko Chang before it gets destroyed. In any event, I'm toodling around a bit today, and heading for Krabi (and then probably Trang after that) tomorrow. Did Ko Phi Phi (have to admit I had somewhat higher expectations, though it was very nice) and will end up doing it again, as I'm going to do Krabi via ferry as opposed to bus -- not much difference in price overall, and a far better view along the way.)
And believe me, all, I've not in any way given up -- hardly the first time I've had a session go south. In fact, I managed to find another relative newcomer to the scene (which seems to be one of my themes this trip for some reason) at a little bar in on Soi Seadragon. A tiny little tilac, only 147cm (4'8") tall and just here on Monday from Udon Thani. Such a good time that I'm keeping her for the remainder of my stay here (Contrary to the principles of Z, I know, but my perspective is not to dump a good thing, and I'm still leaving tomorrow.) And yes, 200b bar fine and reasonable LT.
I'm not a big one for getting creamed here on a bike, big or small, and I find the drivers here even worse than in many places in LOS, so I'm just not going to bother with the cycle scene. Probably would have given it a try if I were staying longer, but I'm already antsy to get moving around a bit.
The PS Hotel is about a hundred feet north of the end of Soi Banglaon Rat-u-Thit, just past the soi that leads to the ExPat. I've had nothing but excellent service and no hassles there to this point, (they simply hold the girl's ID) and will definitely use it again.

Hi joe_zop,
Sounds like you're not having a bad time in Patong Beach after all! Bloody sight better than the freezing weather and even colder women here.
Thanks for the info on PS hotel, I will keep it in mind.
Can you please educate me: what is a tilac (as in > I managed to find another relative newcomer ....... a tiny little tilac)? It sounds delicious, but I've never heard the term before (sheltered childhood, etc.).
Have a great time,
Steve.

Hey Joe Zop,
I would consider it a personal favor if you would post your findings about Krabi and Trang. I've never seen either, but plan to on a dive trip in May to Phuket. Thanks.
Toy Boy,
I'll check out the Navy bar. Thanks. I wouldn't be surpized if the "Amigos Bar" has gone under. Their website is down. It was never a "great" bar, but owned by a friend. On the diving...did you get out to the Similans ?

Joe_zop,
The bus is MUCH cheaper than the boats. B125 bus, B500 boats...
The scenery is pretty damned good too!
Trang and surroundings are the 'new ground' for the LP carrying kiniau's. They made a new discovery and are killing it o-reddy...
Travelagent's prices were rediculous both last January and last May.

Toy Boy -- tilac (or tirac) is Thai for "darling" if I've got it correct. And, yes, I did enjoy my time in Patong, really -- three days with a lovely girl who was shy but responsive the first night, and then aggressive and demanding the next ones, as well as willing to try thing new to her (first time riding on top, which she described as too much, but kept doing it) and first time giving or receiving oral. Definitely beats the weather in the twenties I see is swirling around at home.
FD, Amigos is still there; I recall walking past it. Didn't stop in for a drink -- too many bars, not enough days! -- but it was there. And I'll post whatever I find about Krabi and Trang, though I'm not stying in either all that long. Krabi isn't much in terms of a town, really, from what I've seen in a couple of hours, but the wharf is really nice, and the surrounding scenery is spectacular. I'll see what there is going on a bit later tonight.
I know the bus was way cheaper, Freeler, but my back's still not quite right from the last one, and I wanted to do things by water, regardless of a couple hundred baht. I'm glad I did, as I really enjoyed the look of things coming into Ao Nang. Truly spectacular. I'll be on the bus/van to Trang, though, and probably back north, depending on where I go. Not much I can do about Trang being invaded, unfortunately -- maybe I'll be lucky and they'll all be at the various beaches and islands :) I know what you mean about new ground -- given that Ko Chang seems suddenly to be designated as the next Phuket, I'm really considering heading over there before it gets all built up and damaged.

joe_zop,
I hate foreign languages. Some time ago I bought a book in Bookazine, "Thai for lovers - a complete guide to the romantic culture of Thailand", thinking this would allow me to suggest all sorts of interesting and fun new things to the ladies with effortless precision.
That night I sat with a bar girl and tried to get into it (the book that is). She kept telling me 'man is crap, man is always crap'. This wasn't good for my ego, even if she was trying to explain the difference between kop khun krap and . . ka.
Then a few nights later I was showing it to the regular girl (who oddly seemed a bit mystified by some of the more explicit stuff in it) and she latched on tight to the section starting with 'How much will the dowry be?'. I kept trying to speak the wors for 'no need for a dowry' in Thai, while desperately looking for the phrase for "are you off your sweet fucking head".
After the 'crap man' stuff I called it a day trying to learn Thai. But I shall remember "tilac" and try it next time.
Firedick: no I never got to the Similans, it?s on my list of things to do and has been for some time (Ha! Like diving in Palawan, after 5 years of visiting the Philippines I still ain't been there). I saw some stuff in the press that the visitors have been lousing the place up by leaving their litter on the beaches. A mate of mine did go there three years ago and enjoyed it, but he didn?t rave about it. Unlike my Dive Instructor friend living in Mindoro who does rave about Palawan. And about the sweetest blowjob he ever got in Puerto Princessa , not only about the great diving.

Toy Boy (Steve),
We seem to be cut from similar cloth. I've been to Phuket 7 or 8 times now and have never made it out to the Similans. Nor have I gotten down to Palawan despite living in Manila and making multiple trips back before and since. I guess it's easy to get lazy and sit on a bar stool enjoying the company of the ladies. Your comment about the liter is dead on. I hate the way so many of the Filipino people trash their environment. I had a girl on the back of my motorcycle finish her mango juice and chuck the can along the side of the road. She thought I was absolutely crazy when we went back to pick it up.
Joe Zop,
Thanks for the Krabi info. I'll be waiting. It's good to hear that Amigos is still open. I don't think it was doing too well. More girls than customers last time I was in there.

FD,
Lucky you, living in Manila.
I used to frequent Dakak in N. Mindanao and got badly hooked on a girl from Dipolog. That cost me two years of travelling until I found (again!) the extent of the SE Asian extended family problem and ditched her (or did she ditch me? - I can't remember). After that it was strictly S/T in Mactan and Ermita. The diving around Zamboanga del Norte was great when El Nino wasn't bleaching the coral all to hell. The big walls off Cebu were my favourites, tremendous to just hover in silence at 30 m above a 1000 m sheer drop.
I?ve been trying to get a job in SE Asia for 25 years. Last year I thought I had it, a job in BKK itself! But the guy who wanted me there got moved on himself by his wondrous employer?s rotation system, and the dickless moron who replaced him decided to save costs and not hire anybody new.
Keep us posted on your progress.
Steve.
