Seriously though, I get your point.... Jakarta is not the old place we used to know back in the days of the Green Pub and when the Hard Rock was in Sarinah. Remember when you could go to Hard Rock, take a right as soon as you walk in and sit at the bar there and pick up girls for an early shag right after work? That doesn't happen at the Hard Rock anymore now that it's in Pacific Place. Hell, I don't know of any place in Jakarta like that anymore.
I think you're on to something, what is happening is not some sort of sinister takeover as might have been implied by my overly pessimistic post but more a simple fact that we will all have to get used to and that is that Indonesia, and Jakarta in particular, is simply getting more "respectable".
We all hanker back to the, if not quite wild-west days, then days when people had more to bother them in Indonesia than what a bunch of bules and their hangers-on were doing.
Hard Rock Cafe was a great place when the only people who went there were bar girls and expats, but now nice middle-class Indonesians, perfectly reasonably, want to enjoy the nice places and take their kids there or allow their daughters to go there at night, so the scene needed to be cleaned up. So it was when no respectable Indonesians drank alcohol, only bules did or the low-class punks drinking hooch, as soon as middle-class kids started hanging out at Seven-11 the authorities start worrying they're drinking beer so it has to be clamped down on. Ditto internet porn, when it was restricted to the people who could afford expensive internet costs no one cared, only when all the kids can get it do the authorities feel they need to crack down.
When people become middle class they become more socially conservative. Look at Surabaya, it used to be second only to Jakarta for fun and games, now they love their Mayor there, a middle-aged jilbab wearing woman, but what precisely has she achieved? Well nothing really other than shutting Dolly red-light district and banning the sale of beer, ostensibly to stop kids drinking hooch, because as we all know the best way to stop people drinking hooch is to ban the sale of well-produced legal booze.
This is the future for Indonesia, the crazy old days are past and aren't coming back.
That's why I say Jakarta will become more like Malaysia, the trade will be limited to certain zones and run in strictly controlled ways, you'll have no difficulty getting what you want provided you are willing to go to specific areas to get specific regulated products, but the swinging free and easy days will be over.
It's progress I suppose and from an Indonesian point of view it must be good to see the country developing but I will still hanker after the older days, the more care-free days of wild abandon when Indonesia appeared to be an untamed frontier, somewhere only headcases would want to go, and not the nice sensible -dare one say it boring?- place it is becoming.
Appreciate the thinking that goes into your posts HL77. And I think your summary of where Indonesia is heading is probably bang on although rest assured it has still got so much going for it. Enjoyment is always relative, ask the Afghan who cracks a fat at the sight of some bare ankles. Jakarta for those who live outside the country is still such a tremendously fun place to visit. Will that experience diminish over time as all those shitbox dives full of Kampung ayam that this correspondent loves get hunted down? Probably. Isn't it the law of diminishing returns?
But rest assured, Jakarta is still so outrageous that if my poor old church of Scotland mum knew the shit that I can get up to in Jakarta, it would spin her brain off.
Which brings me to my latest project, have got a sweet 20 yo, needs money. Will try 3 some but is scared of anal. OS has promised it will not hurt. Anyone want to play DP who can share costs. Need to have around 1. 5 jt, some real MDMA and be prepared to treat this girl respectfully. PM interest.
Best regards.
OS.
Interesting discussion. One thing I have noticed, many of the ways to find fun have moved online. I wonder what impact the internet has on the types of mongering places you describe? On my last trip to Jakarta, I did not go to any of the places that are often written about here (BATS / CJs / Blok M etc) instead I simply used the internet to have girls come and meet me at my hotel. I had more girls wanting to come see me than I could handle, and met a couple of gems that I will keep in touch with. Definitely get some duds too this way, but there are ways to weed out as many of them as possible.
Anyone want to play DP.
As they say in Scotland, you take the high road and I'll take the low road.
What would Pastor MacDougall think of all that?
I suspect you're going to have a full mailbox very soon.

What do you think? Should I keep the date and chalk it up to life experience or should I try to get a refund on the tickets (Lion Air) and just have fun in Jakarta again sometime soon. I only have a few opportunities left to visit Jakarta before I am gone for good so I don't want to waste it on a bad experience.
Sounds like you are importing her to where you work, so this will not take away one of your chances to have fun in Jakarta right? If this is taking up one of your chances to go to Jakarta, run away screaming.
Otherwise if all you have to lose is the cost of the transport, I would go ahead with it, but don't be afraid to kick her out if she doesn't put out. Be quite upfront about what you expect before she gets there. Run through what you like to do in bed with her and make sure she is up for it. I love anal, so I always make sure the girls know that and when they arrive at my hotel they know they are going to take it in the ass. Get her on video camera and get her to take some clothes off so you can see what you are signing up for. Don't believe most of the story she is giving you, and make sure you give her back an equally made up story to protect your real identity / location whatever. If she turns out to be an absolute nutter, you don't want her to be able to find you again.
I spoke to JAD last week and he informed me of the change in his life. It is sad for us, yet we should also be happy that he finds his own way in his life. I will still meet him for coffee and a good chat and wish him all the best in whatever he lends his hand at doing. I too took his nightlife tour about 10 years ago, and never looked back. Between JAD and some members I met here, I learnt a lot about Jakarta and Indonesian women. I hope to meet with both JAD and Menteng towards the end of the year or early next year. Cheers bros.
I work in Central Java and she is from North Sumatra. I suggest if she wants to meet she must come here. She says ok. After a week of chatting, I buy plane and train tickets at a cost of 2. 5 million.
I have now discovered that she is recovering from a bad breakup 5 months ago with a boyfriend who cheated. Claims she wants to meet, but I must "inspire" her to get over the old love. Today, she says she has no sexual desire at all and that if we are to get into bed together, I must inspire her now and send sexual messages (dirty talk) by Whatsapp. Not used to this, I Google dirty talk and get a webpage with 50 great lines, some of which I use. Seems to work great. She is talking dirty back and says she is really horny. She has some great lines of her own. Then I get the clincher. When we meet, I have to work really hard because it takes her an hour or more to cum.
Yikes. I've had a few of those woman in my life who can't seem to orgasm and never really enjoyed it. Seemed more like work than pleasure.
I am trying to decide if it is worth the effort or not, I also detect a just a small bit of selfishness in the things she says & does with me in communication.
Usually I am very decisive about things like this, but this one is too close to call.

Traveler
I'd give it a shot if the finances are ok with you. The worst situation is you put her up in some hotel then send her back. I'm just surprised you had to Google dirty talk. I've had a few who take time to orgasm but are crazily into it all the way. I wouldn't let that put me off but, if you don't like the idea, don't do it. From my own fishing on dating sites, I've had a lot of bites from Central Java, so I'm wondering how come you've found nothing there. It seems to ridiculously easy to find women from Bali, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, the whole of Java and Sumatra. I'm sorry, why don't I say almost anywhere in Indonesia. I'd really check what's available nearby too. Incidentally, it's sad to hear anyone say that they'll be leaving for good; make the best of your forays to Jakarta and don't waste a minute. I don't know why you say you're leaving for good, but it certainly can't be good for maintaining your libido levels. Have fun and best of luck.
I've also learned that while it's nice to meet the occasional 9/10, I've found myself much happier with the cute 7/10 girl next door types; the trouble is we're all hounds and can't resist the siren call of those 9's now and then. The thing is that the best sex I had last trip to Jakarta was with a 41 year old (age range of the women I met was between 24 - 41) who clearly wanted to put forward her case for being desirable in bed. She works out at the gym at least three times a week and wants to prove that despite her age, she's a match for any woman. Ah good times. I will see her next trip, but I have yet another lot queued up from the dating sites too.
So yes things change. Things are made more difficult, yet easier if we go with the flow. As the French say, "Plus ca change, plus see'est la meme". I first came to Jakarta in 1997 and foolishly didn't become a regular visitor until 2003 (why did I even wait until 1997 in the first place? I had allowed my friends to drag me to Medan on regular "boys" trips (not to say that this was without pleasure). Nonetheless, once I was hooked, I've been like an addict waiting for his next fix. Things have changed from 1998 to 2003 to 2014; I've been to a lot of the clubs, bars and karaokes (D's, Top Gun, MyBar, CJs, BATS, TigaPuluh, Red Square, Delilah, Three Horse, Today Country, Stadium, NuChina, Immigran, Dragonfly, Cosmos, Zen, 1001) through that period, and although some places have since closed (a moment of silence please gents as we respect the passing of some truly entertaining outlets) other, some may say, inferior outlets have sprung up to fill the void. The thing is that, at least to me, the nature of finding women has also changed. Many have shifted to electronic means of hunting, so it's not that the women aren't around anymore, it's just that you have to hunt for them differently and adapt a new process to wean out the ones you're not interested in. I now make dates rather than go to bars; it's easier on my stomach, liver and ears, which can only be good for my health. I actually get to become friends with quite a few of them; since a lot of them are educated (including doctors, lawyers, dentists, bankers etc) you can actually have a decent conversation with them. Maybe it's because I used to look for women in their early 20's whereas now, I find those in their late 20's much more interesting. Either way that's it, I'll admit I don't know how to stop coming here. Things will change, but we can adapt (or perhaps we ourselves change).

I try to set up age filters on the dating sites between 25 to 45, as I have also had some amazing experiences with early 40's Jakarta ladies. Sometimes when the little head has not had enough attention lately I go looking for the 9/10 girl who is still only 18 years old, but usually after making contact I remember what a hassle they are and sever contact. One memorable girl from my last trip was late 30's with an absolutely enormous set of natural tits. She had kids and some extra weight around the middle but she loved her tits being played with and my cock surging between them was a sight to behold.
Another girl from my last trip who I thought was an experienced bar girl turned out to be a sweet late 20's girl with a normal job who had been dumped by an expat who ran away. As I got to know her better I realised that she is not a bar girl, but had been trained by the expat before he ran away, so her bedroom skills were much higher than you would expect from a 'regular' girl with a day job. So I have stayed in contact with her and we will be friends unless she gets clingy or starts requesting cash when I am not in town.

When I first "met" him through his own website, WorldSG, I thought I knew the mongering scene in Jakarta and vicinities well. But one evening, he invited me for a trip to the Daan Mogot area, together with Mighty Spearsman, and proved me wrong!
I wish him peace in mind!
I came to Jakarta for the first time in 1991 and at that time the Hotmen Bar was quite famous. The name was just an abbreviation of the hotels' name, Hotel Menteng, but it was very appropriate. It was loaded with "self employed young women", as they were called at the time and was very popular with expats. I remember taking quite a number of SYT's back to my hotel (Kartika Plaza, ah! Memories.) The next time I came to Jakarta, in 1995, the Hotmen Bar had degenerated into a meeting place for the gay community and I switched to Blok M. The Tambora was in full swing then.
Funny that nobody else remembers the Hotmen Bar.
Regards,
Ko.
There were 3 Hotmen bar clubs. Is it HM I you remember? HM II was for Arabs and Arab Girls near Pasar Cikini, seem to remember HM III was for the school kid discos. They were all in the vicinity of Gondangdia one of the mongering zones that flourished from the 1940's the other one being Princen Park. Chaiul Anwar wrote his poems in the bars and clubs of Gondangdia. HotMen I was certainly in my top 5, as you could pick up a girl and take her into your car for sex then go back and finish your drink (which they kept cold for you). No one hassled you to take a room back then.
Hotmen I is also where Iwan Fals is rumoured to have got his inspiration for the song Lonteku, which must be the only song that openly sings about Indonesian prostitution played on TV.
My best night at HM I was in about 1993 when a stunning model type with an amazing rack walked in crossed the dance floor and dragged me of my bar stool. Her breasts defied gravity and only later in the evening I discovered why. Her rich cendana boyfriend had forced her to abort late in her term the week before. The operation, or its consequences had made her incredibly horny.
a trip to the Daan Mogot area
Unless I missed some places that might have been nicer, that area is too down market for me. But this is quite an interesting read from the Jakarta post. Recently I had a minor situation with a girl I met on DIA. I don't have much sex with girls I meet on DIA, but this one had traveled all the way from Bandung, had taken days off from work just to meet, etc. I kind of felt obliged. Anyway, the morning after pill is called Postinor in Indonesia, but it is very hard to come by.
May be it can be found online, but by the time it will arrive via the mail it will fail the idea of morning-after. We could not find it in any of the chemists near Sarinah. We visited 4, nor could she find it in Bandung where she asked for it in 3 different apotiks. Eventually she resorted to the internet advice of taking 4 regular pills at once, which did the trick, thankfully.
I have to agree with you there - although enormous tits are not a must for me (I'm more into the responsive nipple kind, especially the pencil erasers:D). I'm finding really interesting propspects with the late 20's and early 30's lot. I'm struggling to make sure I don't get too distracted with their chats arriving on whatsapp and BBM. I haven't even planned my next travel dates, but I know my free time schedule will already be filled to the max. The trick is to fill in the slots during normal working hours; you need to find those working during slightly odd hours or students (hotel workers, karaoke / club receptionists, doctors, nurses etc). Damn, I'm getting J town withdrawal symptoms now - and withdrawal is really the operative word.

I'm sure we can arrange to meet with him bro. Reminiscing shouldn't be a problem for him, and it's always a pleasure to meet with you. We'll be in touch, I have your whatsapp anyway, and we can confirm our timing. I hope to make at least two, and hopefully three or four trips during the time you're in town.
