I will be in Jakarta for the holidays
It would seem that I will find myself in Jakarta for the Christmas-New Year period. I'm wondering if any of the more experienced members of this forum could provide an insight into the scene at that time of the year? Does Jakarta generally "close down" for that period of time?
Any thoughts on a forced trip that time of the year would also be appreciated.
Thanks.
Styk.
Stykler read you post about Jakarta in December I will be there, as well during this period, as usual. As Smoothy said all is a go, but girls weren't as abundant in Blok M last year as I have seen previously.
Send me a PM if you wani to meet.
Morning after pills more common than you think
As abortion is illegal in Indonesia, I always had the notion it would be some dodgy back-room procedure with an unsterilized coat hanger. But this is quite an interesting read from the Jakarta post. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2013/02/20/abortion-today-still-secret-easy-find.html. By coincidence, Jalan Raden, I think that was not too far from the old Hotmen bars?
Recently I had a minor situation with a girl I met on DIA. I don't have much sex with girls I meet on DIA, but this one had traveled all the way from Bandung, had taken days off from work just to meet, etc. I kind of felt obliged. Anyway, the morning after pill is called Postinor in Indonesia, but it is very hard to come by.
May be it can be found online, but by the time it will arrive via the mail it will fail the idea of morning-after. We could not find it in any of the chemists near Sarinah. We visited 4, nor could she find it in Bandung where she asked for it in 3 different apotiks. Eventually she resorted to the internet advice of taking 4 regular pills at once, which did the trick, thankfully.
I've found out over the years that nearly all the WGs and even some civilians take birth control pills on regular basis, and they won't tell you. The reason is very simple, the local guys never use condoms. Ask any of the Kota girls or freelancers at BATS / CJs etc. To show you their handbag and you'll find a pack of Dianne birth control pills.
In any case, morning after pills and a sort of traditional medicine whose name I forgot are really not that hard to find here in Jakarta. For example, those stalls selling Viagra in Mangga Besar also have these pills for sale.
If a WG gets pregnant chances are she didn't have money at the time to buy those pills and waited too late until the abortion got expensive or she freaked out at the idea of aborting.
On the other hand sometimes with civilians they intentionally try to get pregnant so they can get a mixed baby. Purely nothing to gain financially. I'm sure at least a few other expats know what I'm talking about.
One clue for the clueless?
Reminds me of the great PA I had. ... Love the PA's. !
OK, Guys. "PA" isn't in the abbreviations list.
Urban Dictionary has about 37 definitions, none of which seem to apply.
Can a clueless one get a clue?
