New Passport Card in the Works
There is a new format of passport in the works that will be the size of an ID card. The pertinent Federal Regulation is found at http://travel.state.gov/pdf/ppt_card_reg.pdf. I will be looking into this myself. It will be ideal for for border crossers -
"The passport card is intended as a lower cost means of establishing identity and nationality for American citizens in two limited situations—for citizens crossing U.S. land borders and traveling by sea between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Bermuda. The passport card is not designed to be a globally interoperable travel document as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)."
It'll be cheaper than a regular book-type passport and you can apply for both and save some of the fees.
"[A]n application fee of $20.00 is proposed for passport cards issued to adults (age 16 and up), valid for ten years."
"The execution fee for persons seeking to apply for a passport card and passport book will be $25."
"[A] U.S. citizen will be able to apply for both a passport book and passport card in the same application. The execution fee will be assessed only once, although a separate application fee will be assessed for each type of passport."
Has anyone looked into this yet?
Have fun, play safe,
Gino
Saturday morning at El Encanto
After a one year absence, I had the good fortune of passing through El Paso/Juarez on my way to Albuquerque for a 2 week business trip. I parked the car at the U.S. side of the border ($3) and walked across the Santa Fe bridge at around 11am. For those newbies planning their frist trip to Juarez, the Santa Fe bridge crossing is 35 cents from the US to Mexico and 30 cents from Mexico to the US.
I took a taxi to the Hotel Villa Manport and tried Sirenas but it was closed. I tried both doors of El Encanto and it was closed. Then I tried to get a steak lunch at El Herradero but it too was closed. I didn't understand what was going on. My Spanish is not that great but I tried to ask someone on the street what time it was and he told me it was 10:30. Can anyone personally confirm that Juarez is an hour behind El Paso time?
I soon saw a female open the doors to El Encanto and thought, the hell with it, I'm going in. Her name was Jonah, or something like that, and was the only girl working at the time. Tall, fake blonde hair, but big boned and thickish type of girl with a huge ass and large jugs. I was quoted $30 for 30 minutes or $40 for an hour. I went for the 1 hour deal. Massage sucked. After I flipped over we went straight to the main event. No upsell for the CBJ so that's always a plus, I guess. Jonah was nowhere near to a GFE but good enough for my own satisfaction. She even included a fake moan or two here and there.
I finished up and took Cienega32's advice and went two doors down and tried a steak lunch at El Herradero. Great food and reasonably priced. I took a cab back to the border and made my way back to El Paso to start the rest of my drive to Albuquerque. I would've loved to have had tried Sirenas. Perhaps next weekend. Thanks to all who posted places on the wiki-map, it was an invaluable asset.

Easter weekend in Juarez?
With Good Friday on April 6 and Easter Sunday on April 8, do any of you fellow mongers know if the massage parlors and centro clubs will be open at all this weekend?
Thanks
