Nana is the place to be.

Well Nana was maybe the place to be 10-15 years ago, but now its a bit boring for me and many other long term Bangkok mongers.
I will say that the Angel Witch shows were quite good last time I checked but other bars a bit dreary and too much pressure like being asked which girl I would bar fine all the time. But then it all depends on whether you find stunning girls or not. I prefer where the girls get it all off and where don't have to cope with all the ladyboys.

I have to agree, NEP is pretty bad lately, pushy and tons of ladyboys. In one night had three attempts by folks to lift my wallet as well. Only went one night this time so far.
Also on a side note... taxi's out side cowboy on Asoke side are becoming a little bit of a hassel and confrontational this trip. Mamasan's in two places in Cowboy were a pit more pushy and forward then normal. Not sure if it is a sign of things to come or what.

Wallets.
In one night had three attempts by folks to lift my wallet as well.
It certainly seems like it has gone downhill since I was last there - apart from a bit of mild bill padding, I've never had such problems.
One thing that did leap out as exceptional about your report to me was the fact that you carry a wallet. I don't carry one is SE Asia at all unless it is cold enough to wear a jacket, then I carry it on the inside pocket.
I find that neatly folded 1000's in my left front trousers pocket and all other denominations in my right front pocket does the trick nicely. If I reach into my left pocket, I am just pulling out a single note, and if I pull out everything on the right, then people see I have < 1000 on me anyway.
Phone goes in with the 1000s so it doesn't get scratched by coins.
As a side issue, this helped me with a bribe once too. My (farang) GF at the time dropped some litter and the police saw her and wanted to fine us a couple of thousand baht. I said I don't have enough and they got a bit snarly, so I pulled out *all* the money from my right front pocket and put it on the little table they were sitting at and started counting all the little coins loudly and slowly. It was in a very public area (a Skytrain station) and the expression on both guy's faces went from one of aggression to one of blind panic within about half a second.... they pushed my money back at me and told me to go away :)
I spanked her for the littering, which I thought was a far more fitting punishment.

I have never had an attempt to lift my wallet in all my years of goingg to thailand. I keep it in left front pocket which is normally tight enough that I have problems getting it out myself.
I haven't really noticed the Soi Cowboy Taxis too much compared to any other place in Bangkok. The airport is just as bad. Perhaps I just do a good job of putting on a totally disinterested look and I am not polite enough to even register that taxi drivers are talking to me.
I will be coming to Bangkok on January 18th for a weekend of fun and want to thank everyone on here for the wealth of knowledge I have picked up. It will definitely make my time a happy one.
Just a quick question for you guys. How much do you tip?
I have lived for too long in a land that has no tipping at all. I need to know everything. Girls from the Gogos and MPs and even the taxis.
I know someone will eventually say that the information is already here but I have read for 4 days now and have not been able to find solid info. I don't want to be a cheap charlie but I definitely don't want to screw up the good thing you got there by paying too much either.
I do not tip girls anything, I simply agree on the price beforehand. In Bangkok I generally pay 1000 ST and 1500 LT. In Pattaya 500 and 1000. For Massage I am no expert but I usually just look at the prices indicated on Massage thread. For instance on my last trip I went to Nataree, I brought 800 for the 2hr oil massage and 1500 for the girl. I paid everything at the end though. I am not sure if you pay some up places up front. Anyways my experience at Nataree sucked but I am sure if I had picked a different girl it could have been better. I was not that thrilled with the choices though or the facilities. I liked Barrons when it was open, it was much better.
As far as tips in general are concerned, when taking taxis I usually insist on them using the meter and then just round up to the tenth place. As I understand it this is fairly customary. If someone helps me get a girl I want in a gogo I will tip them 20 baht. When I am finished drinking the overpriced drinks at a bar or gogo I tip 20 baht. When I pay bill for food, check because many times they will have a service charge, I just leave the few baht change I got coming back to me. I understand that this is fairly typical also. This from talking to other farangs and bar girls. Bellhops I tip 20 baht.

;);) I'm not that much of a virgin. My card case is in my back pocket.
As I work in SE Asia I have suits with security pockets all over the place and the back pocket is zippered and buttoned and I still only put my card case in the back pocket. :):)

Had it stolen long time ago in manila, since then I am prepared. :) Or paranoid call it what you like, but I never carry anything that can't be replaced with a one minute phone call anymore.
China town is generally the only place in BKK I ever had any type of issue before in the market places with the tight spaces and pushing and shoving everywhere. I was not pleased to have it happen at NEP.

Suzy Wong
Went over to Soi Cowboy last night with 2 friends. Some really hot girls in Suzy Wong's, but the prices are outrageous. I asked this cutie with braces what the going rate was. 600 barfine, 3,000 for ST and 4,000 for LT. Ridiculous. I could bang 2 showgirls from Walking Street in Pattaya for that.
Anyway, as we were walking in the girls outside had signs that clearly said "75 baht draft beer." So we ordered 2 rounds. When the bill came it was 840 baht! Asked the waitress, and then I asked to speak to the mamasan. After much argument, we wound up paying, but not after telling her that she shouldn't have signs outside advertising prices for beer that doesn't exist. I told her "If you make us pay 840 baht for these, we will never come here again and tomorrow I will write about this on the internet". She didn't seem to care.

I am a little bit confused, why did you not check the price of the drinks when the first round was brought over to you, all the bars I have ever been to give you a slip of paper every time you order a drink.

I was once the victim of pickpockets on Sukhumvit Road, two ladyboys bumped into me as they walked past and one managed to pull a 1000 baht note from my front pocket ----they are very skilled, I did not know until 15 minutes later.

Suzy Wong has gone downhill recently. My favorite bar along Soi Cowboy is now Shark and Rawhide. My personal opinion is that the shows at Rawhide is now better then Long Gun not to mention more comfortable seats.
