I wish to travel to Phuket with my better half on 17th till 20th. Just wanted to know about the weather there. What is the exchange for Malaysian RM?
Is there an airline from Hadyai to Phuket?
Thank you guys.

I've always wondered how to pronounce a name that looks a lot to me like "fuck it"?
And if I wonder, there's gotta be other who wonder too.
Can anyone educate me?
i've always wondered how to pronounce a name that looks a lot to me like "fuck it"?

can anyone educate me?
yes, i can educate you. most thai words that begin with "ph" the "h" is silent. so you can pronounce it like pu-ket. just like the island off of phuket named phi phi but pronounced [CodeWord134]-[CodeWord134]. hope it helps. and i did think the same many years ago. although fuck it does work. met many nice girls there.
stayed at the holiday inn resort in phuket for a couple nights. hadn't had time to read the forum and it just occurred to me on arrival that they might not be girl-friendly. i opened the guest services book in the room and the first thing it says is that no guests or visitors are allowed and the policy will be strictly enforced. i almost checked out. fortunately there was that other sentence about talking to a manager if any clarification of this seemingly eminently clear policy was needed. so i called the manager.
as previously posted you just need to let them know you will be bringing someone and they make a note in your record, girl leaves her id and picks it up when she leaves. they won't allow the girl to accompany you to the pool or the restaurant during the day though, and she has to leave by 6am. at least that is what they said, i didn't try to keep the girl. the manager also gave me a speech about how they don't encourage girls to go in the rooms and she might steal etc... which was not appropriate imho.
patong is booming as usual, i had several drinks at bars but for some reason the pretty girls who attracted me to the bars in the first place appeared to lose interest after the first drink, or in some cases did not look as pretty from up close. not to mention the many lady boys, not my thing.
ended up picking up a girl from fbi but these high heels and clothes and the alcohol just made her look better than she was once all the artifacts were gone, by which point it was too late. i encouraged her to leave after an hour.
at one point the next day i felt ripped off. i went to one of the king bars and a waitress noticed i was eyeing a cutie on stage. she promptly called her to my table, i bought her and her friend a drink, maybe even two and when i was ready to pay the barfine and go the girl said she had her period and could not go! what was that bs about?
anyway i found a really cute girl at the fbi disco at the end of the street, who also turned out to provide gfe and remarkable service. we went out to some outdoor disco open until 8am and finally back to my room for 2 sessions in one hour, quite an achievement considering the number of drinks, the hour, and my age!
conclusion: good place to stay unless you want to keep the girl with you during the day.
Mahal,
Nice to see an up to date report.
I'm out there in early Jan.
Please keep the reports coming gentlemen!
Not bad.... not bad at all!
The place must have been a cinema prior to its present reincarnation - at least, that's what it looks like to me with all that going up and down staircases and the stage right smack in front when entering. And why is it that "less than first world countries" can never seem to figure out that when you make a staircase, you got to make each stair the same height?
Anyway.... Walked into the place and welcomed by quite an elaborate show on the stage - Singing, dancing, writhing... and even a live band! That's quite a nice touch! First sight on the left is a long bar with real lookers behind it.... and unlike the "LBFM" (little brown f...cking machines) one gets accustomed to seeing in Patong and other areas frequented by Farang mongers, these girls I rather suspect were there to suit the taste of the local Thai businessmen and big wigs. Much fairer skinned and much better looking (to my eyes anyway!) than the dark skinned Issan gals ubiquitous in Farang dominated watering holes. And definitely so much less aggressive/gentle. My Thai hosts then trooped me back into our private K-OK room - and immediately following were 12 gals all paraded for us to choose. Choose one, choose one he kept saying and of course I had no choice but to choose 2! (Love to get them competing/ vying FOR me) I was now really starting to enjoy myself and actually became a bit raucious... to the point that all of a sudden I became aware that the whole room's attention was on me. Oh Oh - this does not bode well for me if I want to still be under the graces of my host! Bad Form I figured - and decided to cool it a bit. OK not a bit - cool it a lot!! To the point that I actually did NOT take out any girl that night. Well.... these were quite big deal guys in Phuket - what do you expect me to do? But, I did manage to get the low down on the scene at Fantasia for future (err... actually it was for the next day's use!!) use. The deal is Bht1,900 for short term including 1-1/2 hour at a short term hotel close by and Bht 2,900 for long term. Not bad eh? Especially if you just sit outside and don't have to pay for a K-OK room etc - just the drinks that you/your gal consume prior to you taking her out. (And Please don't ask me what are the charges for the K-ok room etc - I don't know as my hosts took care of the bill - of course!!
Will write again later on my 'next night' adventure! Ta Ta for Now!!

Hi, to all,
I see it is already difficult to find a "good" hotel for the end of the year. Yes I know I am late: (
More or less the web ones are already booked.
Sure I wish a girl friendly place (Patong beach):))
Anyone have info about someone not full booked?
Thanx in advanced to who can help and to this great website!

YES - tourism in Phuket is booming again.... to the point that at one of my favorite restaurants there - panwa - I actually had to wait to get a table.... at 9 PM... whilst just a few months back they even closed off a section...and a couple months after the tsunami, I was the ONLY table there! The airport departure lounge is chock a block with passengers whilst again a few months back I remember there were maximum 15 people when I left.
Patong - YUCK! All crowded and prices seems to have also gone up a bit, and they're all expecting a boom during the upcoming Christmas season.
My business friends are also very bullish and are back to their profligate ways of free spending/boozing/new cars etc. And Real estate - never mind the coup or the controversy on Foreign ownership - they're selling them like hot cakes - heard of a 230 unit development already more than half sold within 2 weeks (but this is of course quite a good deal with 2 bedroom townhouses selling for 2.5 million baht - quite a deal - but you can see that it's really booming

100% agree with you.
i just say it was difficult to find a reasonable fly for phuket for this end of the year celebration, and i start to search 2 MONTHS BEFORE!!! (i come from Europe)
(last year i did it 1 month ago without problem)
As you see from my request, i have had problem to find an Hotel 1 month before (last year i have had the possibility to select from a group not full booked.)
As for me, my impression. This year will be so so so full.
GOOD:)) let it be.... there will be space however for everyone:)
p.s. and GIRLS TOO:))

1. I've booked a nice apartment for the Christmas season at very reasonable prices thru PIPS -
http://www.phuketvillarentals.com/apartments.php
you guys may want to try this
2. Had a couple PM's confused about Fantasia -
Note - this is NOT Fantasea - which is that Disney type amusement park in Kamala. Fantasea's brochures/ads etc is all over the place in Phuket and thus the confusion. Fantasia (I i/o E) is a Cabaret/ nightclub/K-OK joint where good looking P4P ladies (more for the Asian Taste i/o Farang's) at reasonable prices.

Hi all,
I will be in Phuket during mid December and was thinking to stay in Phuket town instead of patong for budget purposes however can't seem to find much reports on phuket town itself.
Just wanted to know some of the budget places to stay while in town and whether they are girl friendly or not.
Cheers
SE Joe:
You did not describe its location. Can you provide this missing info.
