Hey guys,
Is $49/night normal for the Copacabana during the low season?
Because if so, I would rather stay at the Hyatt Regency for $72/night(although they do charge $20 to bring a girl in from what I hear).

Please advise all professionals.
There are others that can give you advice but I have been to Manila three times and stayed in Makati on those visits. On Burgos Street in Makati you must go to Flamingos at about 8PM. It will have 30 or 40 or more girls. I think you will enjoy it.
One night you should go to Airforce One on Roxas Blvd-close to airport. It has some fine looking girls/women.
One night you should try the EDSA bars. It is on Roxas as well. There are about eight bars and one or some may have some lookers. It is cheaper than Burgos Street bars.
There are other bars on Burgos that may have lookers, including Dimples and Bottoms(next to one another), Bandidos.
Then one night you should do the Ermita Street bars, starting with LA Cafe. There are several bars there, including the Amazonia. When I went to Manila in 1992 Ermita was the home of the bars with girls on the stage.

Isn't the New World now the Renaissance? If so, I believe it is walking distance to Phoenix 1. I will be staying there for a few days at the end of August before I move over to my regular Mandarin.
Since I'm a Marriott Platinum member and it is a Marriott property, I'll take the points and upgrades there. Also, since the staff doesn't know me there like at a few other hotels, there will be no problems bringing my regular or others there. Although, I seem to recall reading something about the staff harrassing people for bringing guests. I'm paying the $5 or $10 more a night for 2 so I don't have to deal with it.
Any other experieces here?
Yes, New World is now the Renaissance, but most locals still call it New World. In particular, taxi drivers don't seem to recognize the Renaissance name.
I'm a pretty regular guest and I've never heard of anyone being harrassed for bringing back a companion. Depending on the time of night, your general appearance and the appearance of your companion, they may ask the girl to register. But that's it. Just make sure she brings ID.
As for action, the Renaissance is directly across from Greenbelt Mall (Starbucks, Cafe Havana are well known pick-up places), Hard Rock Cafe in nearby Glorietta (also a big pick-up place) and Burgos Street is a short ten minute drive. The policies at this monger-hostile hotel have not changed one bit... Although there are some who can quote exceptions to this rule (i.e. I got past security), the hotel policy which is displayed at the registration counter and GENERALLY ENFORCED is as follows: you will have to stop at the front desk and fully register your guest (she will even have to sign her name). Not only is this an embarassment when you have to do this in front of other guests, it takes time - especially the prudish ladies at the counter will be extra slow about registering your friend. And if your girl happens to have forgotten her ID, she will be refused entry - no exceptions.
Why deal with such hassle when there are many very girl-friendly hotels in the area? Anyway, for whatever its worth, here are my previous posts on the matter:

The hotel is the preffered hotel of choice for US military personnel and other goverment agencies. That is the reason for the strict security at the hotel which is one of the tightest among the hotels in Manila
the enforcement of new world's policy at a given moment may have to do with appearances (or maybe even a bit of reverse racism) as much as anything else. i stay at new world about 50-75 nights a year, so perhaps that is why i often get a pass on registering my guests. but i have never seen a hostile attitude towards mongerers. they make many people register their visitors, which is primarily for the safety of the guests (and to try and maintain the image a bit as well). i've registered girls about 2 dozen times and never gotten a prudish look or anything in the way of disapproval (and there were times when i should have). personally, i am more bothered by having to pass through the metal detector, which even after all these trips reminds me i'm not in kansas anymore.
if you are concerned about getting stopped to register the girl (i.e. and being seen by coworkers in the lobby), have her wait outside for five minutes, head up to the room yourself and then have her come in separately, register and then head up.
but ar+ is right about the id. no id and she won't get in. that, however, is so the hotel doesn't get slapped for allowing **** girls into the hotel. they can at least claim that they checked id (even if it is some bogus, 100 peso joke of an id picked up on the corner)

Those are the reports I remember...
I'll be staying there for a few days at the end of the month before moving to the Mandarin so I'll post my results here.
wow, what a scene! last nite at amazon the commandos arrived . about 15 heavily armed police entered amazon. after about 15 minutes they escorted about half of the waitresses and a group of women that i did not see in the bar. one girl actually did not have a shirt on as they loaded everyone into a commandered jeepney. some girls did not seem concerned, others were quite shooken. i can't be 100% sure but i believe there was at least one monger in the group. other members that are here now maybe able to shed more light on this subject. they also went into the the doormans podium and checked his revolver. i also heard that la got raided a couple of days ago, maybe a week!
one side note, as i was standing outside the cutest little honey stood next to me and was trying to hang on me , she was adorable but really looked ****. i told her to stop hanging on me , because i did not want to end up in the paddy wagon! larter she showed me id that was offical (passport), and she had plenty of stories about her trips to hk and tokyo as a dancer.
its a hard to believe why guys go for these ****, because there are so many girls that are well into their 20s, and they really look 17. oh yeah incidently i am not falling for any fake ids.
also , went onto j-four at 1042 cortada st in ermita. here there is 15 girls all sitting in a row in a rundown karioke (if you could call it that). girls range from about 20 to 26. mgr ask for $2000 bar-fine but $1500 does the trick for the nite. of course a tip is very important to the girl, because i beleive they get $500 from bf!
short time hotel recommendation for hotel sogo at 2120 mabini st, malate. $360 for 2 hr promo rate. small room for that cost , but it worked 2 times last nite.
I spent many years as a hotel GM in PI. One of the main reasons most international branded hotels require registering "visitors" is because of the rip off artists. Drugged, hotel guests loose Rolex watches, Nikon cameras, wallets, passports and the like. I always required registration for the protection of our guests but also required it be done with discretion.
Further, when the visitor left the hotel I required reception to call the guest, "Mr. XXX, your guest is leaving is everything OK?" to ensure there was no problem. It is not fun to read in one of the many local rags (and they love to print stories about it) about a customer being ripped off in your hotel by a local prostitute.
I will not comment on any other customer related issues as that is not the issue. If the New World has service problems aside from this which would cause someone to select another hotel, so be it.
Cebu Local also makes a valid point regarding the hotel's military business.
Not taking sides here, just want to shed some light on "why".

‘untouchable’ vice den raided
by : ferds sevilla
“pasukin ninyo! wala akong pakialam kung sino ang mga patong diyan ... maski tagarito sa city hall. sisibakin ko sila!”
thus was the stern order of manila mayor lito atienza to senior supt. danilo abarzosa, manila police district oic director, leading to the raid of a notorious ermita bar saturday night. abarzosa led two mpd units and swooped down on l.a. cafe on m. h. del pilar st., rounding up about 100 suspected prostitutes.
those apprehended are said to be “top of the line” among thousands of call girls operating in the resurgent red-light district of manila.
l.a. cafe has been considered “untouchable,” allegedly protected by policemen, military officials, and some city hall insiders who are on the payroll of the club operators.
certain media personalities are also on the take, police sources averred.
due to its strong backing, l.a. cafe has over the years reportedly operated with impunity as a front of prostitution, illegal drugs den, and a haven for other nefarious activities.
“mounting complaints have reached the office of mayor atienza, claiming that prostitutes, pimps and shabu vendors abound in the establishment,” said senior insp. rene de jesus, chief of the mpd detective beat patrol.
de jesus deployed undercover female police officers and found many “very young pick-up girls.”
“talaga namang mukhang mga may gatas pa sa labi at virgin quality. kawawa naman ang mga batang ’yan na nai-exploit ng mga sindikato,” he said.
the bar owners, identified as kirshner and jonathan turf, were not around during the police raid.
the bar’s assistant manager, ermilinda viray, 30, who was held along with seven “undocumented” waitresses, strongly denied the allegations against the establishment.
“gawa-gawa lang ’yan ng mga naiinggit na competitor namin,” viray said.
l.a. cafe is just one block away from the mpd sta. monica precinct and two kilometers away from mpd station 5.
late last year, three professed call girls complained to the police they were picked up at l.a. cafe, then gang-raped by a group of arab students.
the last time l.a. cafe was raided was in late 2005. it was conducted by the mpd task force galugad under chief insp. alex yanquiling jr., who apparently earned the ire of higher officials such that his promotion and those of his men were frozen.
on saturday night, l.a. cafe was jampacked with more than 500 people, including tourists of diverse nationalities.
the undermanned police raiders could not effectively search every nook and cranny of the bar.
alleged drug dealers supposedly slipped through the backdoor.
at least 200 other pick-up girls found hanging out at the bar could not be accommodated aboard the six jeepneys hired by police to haul them to the mpd headquarters on united nations avenue.
those apprehended were reportedly of minor age and had no verifiable identification documents.

cop [CodeWord124] hooker
by : ferds sevilla
katie (real name withheld), 19, prostitute, thought she was jaded to the ways of her wild and wicked clients. until she met a cop who shattered whatever faith she had left in men, and god.
the maniac thrashed the terrified hooker, then poured wine on her gaping wounds while he poked a gun at her sex organ. it was a sadist’s demented view of a good time. “pagod na pagod na ako!,” katie cried as she endured the beastly sex and torture. yet the louder she cried, the more her tormentor smiled with satisfaction.
sodomy spiced with injury. blood and battery. a painful orgy with merciless hands and a cold gun. these were just among the perversions that katie supposedly endured for hours in the mercy of her [CodeWord126] inside a motel in sta. mesa, manila.
“ang baboy. kung anu-ano ang ginawa at pinagawa niya sa akin. siya raw ‘yung si pigoy big brother,” katie told people’s tonight.
katie was among the 100 suspected prostitutes rounded up saturday night by manila police district operatives from the l.a. café bar on m. h. del pilar and r. salas sts., ermita, manila, on orders of mayor lito atienza.
the teen hooker, known at the bar as kit-kat, is a self-supporting second-year customs administration student. this, according to her identification card.
“ito lang naman po ang mapagkakakitaan ko ng sapat para maisulong ko ang pag-aaral ko at ng kapatid ko. praktikal lang,” katie said.
katie was with a korean client outside the manila hotel on roxas blvd. three weeks ago when the uniformed cop pounced on them.
“mali raw po ang ginagawa namin. malambing kasi ‘yung korean na kasama ko. sabi ng pulis prostitution daw ‘yun at kailangang dalhin kami sa headquarters,” katie recalled.
the korean asked how he can settle the “case.”
the officer allegedly instructed the korean to pay for his time and all the “trouble” he went through in tracking them down.
the korean rushed to his manila hotel suite and got at least u.s. $2,000, which he gave to the officer. the policeman warned the foreigner not tell anything to anybody or else he will not ever get out of the country.
the officer reportedly refused to release katie.
katie alleged the policeman took her to a car at the parking lot in the back of the mpd headquarters on u.n. ave.
“pag ‘di raw ako nagpa-kuwan, ikukulong daw ako at sama-sama raw ‘yung mga babae’t lalaking preso. pipilahan daw tiyak ako, sabi n’ya,” katie told people’s tonight.
she said the policeman then took her to nightmare motel.
“kasuka-suka ang mga pinaggagawa n’ya sa akin. kinunan pa ako ng picture sa cellphone. gustong kunin ‘yung cellphone ko, nagmaka-awa lang ako. ako na lang ang nagbayad sa motel at taxi,” katie said.
katie said she met the korean at l.a. cafe, where very young, pretty *****s are reportedly available. the bar’s managers have belied allegations that the establishment is a haven for prostitution and illegal drugs.
“hindi kami kayang ipasara ni mayor dahil wala silang mahuhuling illegal dito,” a bar security oic said.

manila cops, city hall execs in sex payola
by : ferds sevilla
how much is sleazy sex in ermita and malate?
beneath the nickel-and-dime deals between hookers and their customers allegedly lies a multimillion-peso protection racket involving manila city hall insiders and manila police district officers.
for kinky play, they have to pay. this, as people’s tonight gathered that the recent raid on l.a. café was just the tip of the payola grime in the city.
sources said the city hall officers and mpd officers assigned to the special operations group (sog) allegedly rake in at least p100,000 in “protection money” weekly from “sex” lords in the red-light district.
upon learning of the alleged payoff scheme, mayor lito atienza immediately ordered a raid at the l.a. café, located on m.h. del pilar st., ermita.
atienza also directed mpd’s officer-in-charge director sr. supt. danilo abarzosa to intensify the police campaign against prostitution, illegal drugs and loose firearms.
“zero tolerance is what we will enforce as far as illegal vice is concerned. alamin natin kung sino ang may proteksiyon, ipakukulong natin,” atienza said.
mpd’s detective beat patrol chief sr. insp. rene de jesus, who led the raid, said the police will recommend the bar’s closure for reportedly serving as a front of prostitution.
police rounded up 100 suspected pickup girls during the raid.
“baka ’yang si (mayor) atienza at mga alipores n’ya ang ipakulong namin. sige, subukan nilang ipasara kami. what they’re doing is illegal.”
thus dared an irate employee of a ermita bar raided by manila police district operatives saturday night.
l.a. café operators vehemently denied being a front for paid sex and a haven for illegal drugs.
“ang mga babaeng pumapasok sa amin ay lahat customers. wala kaming control sa kanila paglabas nila,” said ermilinda viray, 30, l.a. cafe assistant manager.
“mounting complaints reached mayor atienza, alleging that l.a. café is one of the untouchable establishments in the area,” sr. insp. de jesus told tonight.
a long list of city hall officials, policemen, military and even some “media personalities” are reportedly on the payroll of the manila’s vice.
a letter-complaint stated that operatives of mpd station 5 are also on the take.
l.a. café also reportedly employs several cops as bouncers.
insp. cesar teneros, of the sog at city hall, denied his team is involved in any protection racket.
“kasinungalingan! e, ’di sana mayaman na ako. kakarag-karag nga ’yung kotse ko, e. trabaho lang kami,” teneros said.

8/16/2006 20:14 pm
translation for none tagalog speakers provided
it was a surprise to read about la cafe. most surprising is that jurassic, right next door, is a full on angeles city style bar with go go dancers and a bar fine. obviously, this has nothing to do with prostitution and everything to do with money. there are two likley reasons for the raid. first, the major was not getting his share of the action, so he ordered the raid to send a message. or second, a competitor paid the major for the raid. either way, everything will be as it was in a very short time. a few of the girls might be scared away for a while, and some permanently, but there are so many, what's the difference. in case anyone is worried, there is absolutely no way that la cafe will close. too much money involved, and too little evidence. while major lim did close all of the bars about 30 years ago, they were the gogo bars, and the "regular" bars like la cafe remained, or reopened shortly afterwoods (old timers, correct me if i am wrong). maybe this will also be a wakeup call for some of the questionable activities that la cafe started allowing in last year or so. mainly, the mamasans that are clearly employed by the bar. "clearly", because i have seen a list of them that the upstairs staff has so they know not to charge them entrance. some even wear badges indicating that they are in charge of the girls. they were never around several years ago, and who needs them anyway. also, keeping **** girls out would be a good idea that probably won't hurt business much. having 15 year olds in your bar can't be good when you get raided.
i wanted to check out la yesterday, but didn't quite make it. found a nice, first day on the job girl in cotton club. a lot of nice girls right now in cc. in fact, i have found edsa particularly packed with talent in the last couple of trips. more girls then average for week night in most of the bars. even barfined a cute one in vip, and that place is usually filled with dogs.
just one interesting comment. when returning my girl to the complex yesterday at about midnight, there was a police car parked outside, with another one towards roxas. i can't remember ever seeing one there before. i decided to drop my girl off a hundred feet up the road. not that there was any particular risk in dropping her off right in front of the cop, but it is always best to avoid any situation that could end up with a bribe.
i plan on dropping la cafe tonight to assess the situation. will report back.
and what is this discussion doing in the makati section?
