Thank you for a nice report. Metro São Cristovão is closer to VM.
Did you ever tried? When I tried, years ago, the metro station was past the VM entrance. So the way was contramão (you would have to drive the taxi against the traffic). The taxi took a horrendously long trip to finally get to the other side and enter there.
It involves get across Avenida Presidente Vargas twice.
Instead of going 200 feet backwards he had to go 3 miles forward.
So the proper metro station for VM is good to know (Praça Onze? As has been said)
We originally got off at Sao Cristovao and took a taxi from there, don't know if the driver was trying to take advantage of us or not but it took about 15 minutes and we seemed to be driving around a lot. When we left VM we grabbed a cab and told him to take us to Sao Cristovao he said Praca Onze was closer and it took less than 5 minutes to get there.
Chris
True, a taxi have to drive quite a bit to get to VM from Metro São Cristovão (if you leave the metro station on the south side).
If you leave the metro station on the north side it'll be much closer for the taxi driver.
Otherwise it's just a 5-10 min quick walk from the metro station to VM.

Looking forward to more reports.

So walking from VM, Sao Cristovao (done this route before) is quicker, but if you take a taxi then Praca 11 is quicker?

Shortest taxi route to/from Metro station.
Going to VM: Metro São Cristovão, north entrance.
Leaving VM: Metro São Cristovão, south entrance.
The only reason I could imagine of taking a taxi to/from VM from/to a metro station would be if there were heavy rain. In that case I don't think anybody cares if he save R$1-2 of choosing the closest metro station.

Balcony Girls
I have gone to balcony every night since Monday night and have taken a girl from there every night. Have not paid more than 150R for a single girl, all start off asking 200R but almost all accepted 150R right away when I offered, many have wanted an extra 10R for the cab ride back. Only two so far would not budge from 200R and one stared at 400R when I smiled rolled my eyes and shook my head no she started coming down in increments of 50 when she got down to 250 I just smiled again and walked away. My apartment is at the far end of Copacabana practically in Ipanema, Balcony is at the opposite end of Copacabana, I have walked from my apartment to Balcony every night anywhere from midnight to two in the morning alone and never had a single problem many of the outdoor cafes are still open the cafes along the beach are still open there are police out street cleaners out lovers out walking hand and hand doorman and other personal out in front of the hotels. I personally believe the area to be safe at night, but you still want to use caution just like in any big city.

Paris Cafe in Recreio
I was looking for info. In gpguia about this place. The info. is rather outdated. Anyone have any experiences or opinions? I know its expensive, however, is it another Cent. like termas, or similar to another than one can use as a point of reference? The place is also a swingers meeting area on certain nights, which at this point I have no interest. If I check it out, it will probably on Mon tues, or wed.,when it is not swingers night.

Luomo
Hey all, last time I was down there Luomos had been closed. Did they ever reopen? Going to be down there week after next, just curious?
Thanks!
I have gone to balcony every night since Monday night and have taken a girl from there every night. Chris
When I visited in early June I was over at Balcony one night, and though I didn't take a girl I thought the quality was much better than often reported on the forum, although to get a really good one you'd have to sift through the lesser options.
I just wanted to say to Chris: Those are some fine photos. The last one might just be the best ass-and-pussy shot ever posted on ISG. Good job!

Another annoying newbie.
Hi,
I've extensively read the forum about Rio, and I would like to ask what approach you recommend to a Rio first-timer, who has done a little occasional mongering (German FKK Club and Escorts in a few cities in the US)? It seemed to me that Luomo would have been a nice place to start with. But if it closed, what do you recommend? Try another terma (4x4)? Go to a pick-up bar (my hotel in Copacabana is not particularly guest-friendly)? Call an escort? I arrived in Rio today and have not yet gotten the feeling of the city, I don't know how dangerous it is for a european who knows next to no Portuguese to wander around.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks gents!

Thanks gents!
Go check out: If money is not an issue and you are staying for short time, go Solarium and Monte Carlo. They are both in Zona Sul, good choices of bunda and safe places to go to. 4 x 4 is not bad either, but its farther and a more seedy place at night than during the day time. Worth going, but a bit away compared to the other two. Enjoy!

Belprazer
Have not been to Belprazer in quite a while. Pretty decent line up, but its somewhat of a crap shoot when visiting these casas. Jessica is a good looking blond who is not thin, and somewhat stacked (Not fat). Meaning she is a cavalona type. Nice smile, and is a freak in the sack. She tends to want to run the show (dominate), so we did not click 100 percent, but if that s your thing, she might be your winner. It now costs 140 beans for 1 hr regardless whether you pay with credit card or cash. Prices just keep going up. Pretty soon mongers will be having protests and marches with those kid of prices :)

I think the setup is refreshingly impressive for a first timer in Rio, plus it can introduce you to an area, perfectly safe in the daytime and early evening, that is full of interesting restaurants, bars, shops, and for when you feel like spending a little less cash for some good quality action, the privees (see Mr Sperto's map and listing elsewhere on this board).
The main hassle of 4x4 for a newcomer is the likelihood of getting lost and disorientated. You need to get your bearings (4x4's street, turning right as you come out of the door, runs across the main Rio Branco street from East to West, effectively ending at the Uruguiana Metro station). But if you get a taxi to 4x4, enjoy yourself a bit, then explore slowly using 4x4 as a base point, you can't go far wrong; and if you are there around lunch time you will find some excellent places to eat (which also saves eating at 4x4).

Termas 65
Try Termas 65, Rua do RosáRio 65. Centro. Rio de Janeiro, Tel: (021) 203-1338 it's just one block over and a couple of blocks down from 4X4. It's an easy walk and makes changing places easy. I've started at 65 at about 15:00 then moved over to 4X4 after 18:00 staggering out about 21:00 and heading back to the hotel in Copa for dinner before trying BarbraElla about 00:00
