I am looking for a guest friendly hotel (no joiner fee) around South Pattaya (or North Pattaya), with a nice/clean swimming pool, between 1500-3000 bahts/night.
Thanks!

Lots of restaurants and bars in the area. Good pool. Visitor fee is charged for overnight, but only 100 bahts; they take the girl's ID card. This is a good protection for you.
Baht bus past the door, to get to/from Beach Road and Walking Street etc.
I stayed there in June 2008 and it was fine.

Thanks![/QUOTE]I've stayed at the Nova Platinum in South Pattaya, and it's a small hotel with a beautiful pool. The rooms are super modern, and each one has a new 32" flat panel TV and DVD player. It's guest friendly, and it's right behind walking street. Greeat value. I think it's just under 1500 baht.

If I remember correctly it was 1, 000 THB. It sure does keep the riff-raff out, and that's what it was intended to do.
IMHO, even though this is a beautiful, quiet, tranquil hotel at the end of walking street, it is not really a very good place for mongering. They discourage it in every way, since they have a lot of families and convention business. The pool is located across the street, and it's very inconvenient to cross walking street in your bathing suits. Lots of better hotels in the area that cater to the mongering crowd.
Ok, so I've read through pages and pages of reports, but still can't seem to find some consistent info on a good hotel. And by "good", I mean that meets our primary needs.
I am headed to Pattaya in March for a few days, alone, and want to be close to the fun. Short walk to beach by day, and short walk to street bars by night. Not looking for anything fancy, but do insist on minimizing the odds of finding cockroaches in my room (the little critters on the floor kind! ).
I see some varying info on this site for hotels, but am looking for someone that has been there recently, enjoyed his stay, and found not only the location to be great, but that the hotel be clearly girl-guest-friendly.
I apologize for asking the same damn question for the umpteenth time, but I just wasn't able to zero in on a hotel as yet.
Any good recommendations out there based on more recent experience?
Thanks guys.
Dear Fellow Mongers
I will be visiting Pattaya from 7th to 12th March with a mate from UK.
I am looking for An Apartment/Hotel Suite with 2 bedrooms closer to all the action.
Any suggestions - greatly appreciated.

I always stay at the Flipper House on Soi 7 between Beach Rd and Second Rd. It's guest-friendly, they just need to surrender their ID card, beer bars all around, not far from the beach, not far from from the baht bus route, and a good clean hotel with a pool on the roof and room service.

Based on recommendations in this forum I booked rooms in Galaxy (on Soi Diamond) but left after just one day.
The rooms were small and bare (no chair just a stool) but the worst thing was that the shower was on the wall opposite the toilet--there was no separate enclosure. Besides being cramped (with a sink also in the small room) the top of the toilet and the floor were wet the next morning after using the shower.
Also, I got a room on the "quiet" side of the hotel (opposite Soi Diamond) but I could feel the boom of the bass/music from the bar right below the hotel through the floor/bed/pillow. So if you go to bed before the bar closes it is difficult if you are a light sleeper like me.
To their credit, they gave us back our 500 baht deposit for the minibar even though they were disappointed that we left after reserving for 6 nights.
We moved to the Pattaya Bay resort. At 1400 baht/night it isn't that much more expensive than Galaxy, especially when you consider that breakfast is included (no breakfast at Galaxy). Bigger rooms, a pool, and away from the masses. The one negative is that it is on the other side of 2nd. so you have to walk about 5 minutes to reach bars and about 10-15 minutes to Walking Street. But they do have a shuttle if you don't want to walk.
Like the Galaxy it is girl friendly (no fee), has free internet, and safes in the rooms.
Try Eastiny on Soi 10 between Beach and 2nd is pretty good, too
Otherwise for "budget accommodations" try one of the "Sawasdee" chain - Soi honey inn between 2nd and Buakhao, Soi 10 to right off 2nd, Soi 10 between beach and 2nd (to the LEFT off 2nd), soi Honey Inn at Buakhao and Soi Diana between 2nd and Buakhao Some of these are more prone to 6 legged critters but friendly to 2 legged deer - copy ID at desk and go up. Word of warning, though only the one at Honey and Buakhao and the one on Diana have LIFTS. The others are "walk-up" (or is that "drag self up stairs with 2 legs and the arm pulling on the handrail whil huffing and puffing and panting in anticipation of relaxation"? :) ) The prices are not identical - less amenities, lower price
Big discounts at Accor for bookings through to 26th.

Does anyone know if the 3 in Pattaya are girl friendly (especially Ibis)?
Here is another useful site for finding girlfriendly hotels:

I hope they add more though.
