A couple of years back there was a beautiful Cubana named Adrianna. Just wondered if anyone knows about her. If she is still there or how to contact her. I haven't forgotten that beautiful face and have only seen her pictures. I would make a trip to Cuba just to see her!!! Thanks.
Could the police hassling of jineteras be minimal off the beaten path in place like Holguin or Baracoa ? (Actually, the last post seems to say that the answer is NO - the police hassling of Jins stil persists in remote Baracoa.)
IMHO the police are a secondary issue to the problem with finding chicas. The real hassle comes from the eyes and ears of the loyal revolutionaries. The staunch Fidelistas are the ones spreading fear and informing the police of inappropriate behavior. Not unlike the russians that erected a statue in the image of a young boy that informed on his parents. I hope this atmosphere of fear ends soon. It's such a shame.

By the way, I really love the water. Hence the name "Water Boy." I love the water as much as a love the chicas. The best thing for me is a combination: una chica mojada. (I'm mean like on a beach their hair wet, just having come out of the water.)
Is the situation only that way in Habana & VEradero and the AI resorts ?
Or is it all over the island ?
Holguin is not one of the better places. The police presence is strong there. I was there a year ago and we were talking to chicas on the closed off street on the Northwest corner of central park. It turned out the police were monitoring the place and taking pictures of any chica we spoke to. I do not recommend Holguin as the best option. Santiago is much better. Of course there are the chicas are darker ther and if that is not your thing you can still try Holguin. I had some success, but many nights got nothing.

CC
Every time a room is rented at a casa, the owner is required to report this, with the names of those who sign into the casa (you and your chica). The local police chief decides what to do with the information. In Baracoa, each girl gets a lecture on morality. If she is a long-term girlfriend it isn't a problem. If she is seeing a variety of different men, it is. In cities like Santiago or Havana, it isn't possible for them to see the girls quickly, although they may later find the girl and address the "problem".

Therefore you have to look for a casa with private entrance. Then the owner doesn't have to report the girl, because he can say he didn't see the girl enter.
I have diligently researched cuba on this forum. Dont get me wrong with my criticisms of the state of tourism and mongering in Cuba. I'm a fan of Cuba and all things Cuban.

I hardly think I qualify to give a report of distinction. I am nowhere near being an expert. The other guys on this forum who HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN to Cuba and know the current situation should be nominated. Not I.
I was merely asking a question to see if this was a general consensus of the forum members.
Hi All,
I'll be going to Havana for my first time, and I'd like to stay somewhere where I can bring back a jinetera if things work out that way. Can I do this at a casa particular with a private entrance? That is my first choice. I don't really want to stay at a hotel because I've heard it might be difficult to do. Any suggestions?
Also, any clubs better than others to meet some nice women? My spanish is fair, but not fluent.
Thanks,
Dolphin
Whether or not the casa owner sees the person enter, he/she is still responsible for infractions. If you are discreet, they may be willing to overlook things and take a chance. If you are too obvious and they think you will get them caught, they will not.
They want to make money, but the fine is about CUC$600 versus the $30/40 they will make from you.
Holguin is a police training area.

Dolphin
Pretty well any casa in Havana will allow you to take Chicas back to your room. For your own protection though it would be a good idea to ask the Chica for her ID card (Carnet) and write down the information on a piece of paper and put it away somewhere. Make sure the Chica is at least 18 years of age. If the Chica is staying overnight I would take her Carnet and tell her she can have it back in the morning. If she says no then you should probably say goodbye to her. Always keep all your things locked up whenever you have a stranger in your room. I've never had anything stolen from me by a Chica in my room but lots of guys have. Just be extremely careful and don't give anyone the opportunity to disappoint you. Don't even let a Chica be alone in your room while you go to the bathroom unless you know her well. Most of the Chicas are great to be with and will most always treat you as well as you treat them. They love to receive little gifts like perfume, chocolate, or any clothing articles. Good luck. Be very careful and have fun.

Do you know whether some clubs might be better than others to meet some women? I'll be in Habana Vieja. Ideally, I'd like somebody who would spend the night (not just an hour or two). Or, I'd be happy to meet somebody who would like to hang out and go to dinner, dancing, spend the night, etc. That would be ideal, but I don't know how easy that is to find. Thanks again. I'm really looking forward to my first trip to Cuba!
Okay,
I am going back at Christmas. I have been about six times in the past. I haven't found much new info here. If someone has been recently please make a new post. What are people paying now? Here is what I know.
Varadero- Pretty lame. I was taken to a brothel there by the auotpista gas station but I had to ask a few guys. Otherwise there is little. You may see girls at the outside bars along Primera but not often. You will need a illegial casa to take them to. Casa's are illegial in Varadero.
Havana, much better. There are girls on the street around the Havana Libre hotel. Malecon is also a good place to meet girls. I have seen them in Miramar standing on the street. Try to find one that is not too hard. Some of them are. You can ask a taxi driver for help. It is pretty cool. They will not put on the taxi meter and you will have to pay more but that is the cost of finding a girl.
You will need your own casa most likely. Sometimes they have their own. Make sure ahead of time that your casa is girl friendly. Some will take the girls Carnet (id card) and give it back to them once you give the ok that all your stuff is there.
Once I picked up a nice girl at the Copellia across form the Havana Libre and we walk to a apartment building. We knocked on the door of a apartment but no one answered. I took her into the basement stairwell of the buidling and she gave me a bbbj there which was great. At one point we heard people in the stairs. She wanted to see me the next day. I paid US$30.
A girl will try to "claim" you once she has been with you and will chase off other girls. Do not tell them where you are going or what you are doing next. They will try to set up the next meeting for the next day. I just say I have a mean wife and that discourages them.
Pinar Del Rio - I have had good luck here at local bars.
Trinidiad, you can find girls on the street and in local bars. I went to a small local bar and the bartended immediately sent for a girl without asking me.
Santiago de Cuba - this is a hell hole with really tough chicas.
You can find a "girlfriend" pretty easily in Cuba.
Good luck.
Please post some new info on prices.

I'm really looking forward to my first trip to Cuba!
I always stay in Vedado near La Rampa. I think this is the best and safest area to stay. There are lots of Police in this area which is good for your protection but it also makes it a little more difficult to meet girls. If the Police see a girl talking to a tourist they will most likely come over to the girl and ask for ID etc. You have to be very discrete. If you see and girl you like and you are able to talk to her try to get her away from the street and into a bar, shop or whatever so you don't attract the attention of the Police. Always carry a pen and paper and write down the girl's name and phone number if possible. This will come in handy if you meet a girl during the day but she's not able to see you until at night.
If will be very difficult for you to meet a girl and take her for dinner, dancing etc because most girls will not walk around the streets with a foreigner. If they are seen walking around with a foreigner there's a good chance the Police will hassle them. If you've been to Havana many times and know the girl well you can say she's your girlfriend and it will probably be all right but as a first time visitor to Havana I think it would be difficult for you to do this.
I rarely go to the Old Havana area at night. I think this area can be very dangerous at night especially if you stray far out of the tourist areas. There are a few hotels along Paseo del Prado that seem to be good areas to meet girls. A lot of guys seem to have had good luck around the Hotel Inglaterra area. There's a park area there called Parc Central where I'm sure you will meet girls if you stroll around just before and after dark. This area is just down the street from the Capitolia.
Havana was an easy place to meet girls one time but it's not like it used to be. You can still meet lots of girls but it's getting more difficult all the time. It helps to have lots of contacts there and lots of phone numbers from previous visits. On Friday and Saturday nights it's very busy and easy to meet lots of girls. During the week it's quite dead but if you're a good hunter you can still do well. Sometimes you can use the services of some guy in the street to help you meet a girl but be very careful. I would not venture far from my casa with any of these guys. If they want to introduce you to a girl have them bring the girl to you or to a meeting place that is very safe. Don't go to a strange place for a quickie with a girl. Always bring the girls back to your own casa. Do not invite any guys to your casa or even tell them your address unless it's necessary. Havana can be a very dangerous place if you are not careful. I would not recommend having a private casa all by yourself. This is illegal and could also be risky.
Havana is a fairly safe place for the most part but be very cautious at all times. Always lock away all your valuables. If you take a girl back to your casa always check her Carnet. Make sure she's 18. Write down her ID number on a piece of paper and put it away. If the girl is going to stay overnight take her Carnet and tell her she can have it back in the morning.
The casa owners are mostly all very nice people and will rarely touch any of your things. If they do steal from you they could possibly loose ther casa. A few times that I've heard of casa owners stealing from tourists it seems to have happened the day the tourist is leaving because they know there's no time for the tourist to get the Police involved to do anything about it. I think it's best to never let them know exactly what time or day you are leaving. I always say I may stay one or two more days even when I know exactly when I'm leaving.
Havana is a very interesting place to visit and can be lots of fun but it's no longer such an easy place to meet girls like it used to be. Good luck, have fun but don't be foolish. Always be very cautious.

Jeweller, thanks for the information. During daytime i have never had any security problems in havana, however at night this is different. I would not recommed walking alone. If you want to get from a to b at night it is always better to use a taxi. For you own safety i would also recommend not to get too drunk.
In general i would also say try to avoid people who approach you especially in the center. I have a cuban friend and he once told me that the people who approach you are la basura de nuestra sociedad ( the trash of our society)
havana for me is still a very good monger destination if you avoid the center or tourist areas of havana in general. I prefer the suburbs of havana like la vibora, marianao, la lisa, cerro...
