Also Balcony is for sale! The American owner is rumored to be stressed by Balcony's new "high profile" GDP scene!
Interesting comment. When I was in Rio some months ago I was sitting in TA and speaking to some guys at the next table. They told me they were going to Balcony bar and that they spoke to the American who owns the place and they said he can't wait for Help to close. He was looking for the additional business. Seems like this would be the best time to sell the place anyway with all the crowds, a prospective buyer might think that this place has a booming business. Might be booming now but who knows what the future holds for this place, the Governor might not like the ugly scene there either and close it down or the crowd could move on if another club opens up nearby.

Why the huge difference in prices? Has MC gone that far up? Holy shit!!
maybe i should post this at the carnival section but the topic is not about carnival but about places where i should go during carnival to have a good time. with the chicas that is.
i understood helpee is gone and balcony seems not similar. correct me if i'm wrong.
maybe because of carnival, places will act different ? i just don't know.
please lead me in the right direction : i have only 5 nights in rio before continueing to buzios and i don't like to waste 3 nights by searching on the field only.
i don't mind to spend a few bucks but a mixed crowd of fl's or girls who are looking for an extra support are more my style over pro's.
thanks for the input guys ! i'm in rio next friday !
i don't like carnaval no more that's why i am leaving on tuesday. it is not the way it used to be anymore.
imho you have to go and see at least once in your lifetime the parade in sabodromo. no matter how much you pay for the ticket. unfortunately black market prices in the last minute that you are coming. try to go sunday or monday night. don't know which one samba schools parade when but others might help on that. it matters.
furthermore try to get a ticket and go to the flamengo soccer group party called vermelho e preto ( red and black). don't know what grounds they are using now but it's worth going. also to the one held in the club of syrio e libanes (syrians and lebanese) in the lagoa area.
there used to be many more parties before. don't know any more now.
one thing tho. watch your belongings and your pockets very well. don't carry with you anything you can't afford to loose and definitely no passport or credit cards.
if you want to score for free it all depends on your looks, charm, age, the way you move in the samba beat and the lingo. same as everywhere in other words.
balcony is exactly the way it was the area outside help but smaller. lots of doable garotas last thursday night after midnight. no disco tho.
most of the termas will be closed during carnival. might be an exception with monte carlo up to saturday i guess. downtown ones all close for sure.
hope it helps.

Police
Bravo,
every night I saw two police cars on the left and right of the balcony, I never saw them asking or talking with turists, neither asking ID, they just watch and care about what happens. Remember around of Balcony there are many children asking money, often guys playing capoeira and then asking money and yes, not only nice faces, but for me now from Balcony until Prado Junior looks like million times safer than when Help was still alive.
Correct me if I am wrong but has there not always been a police box beside balcony usually with a car beside it?
Keep up the good work Lukasek, I always find your reports refreshingly good.

Now it makes more sense
reading this short article about the othon hotels getting an investment from the government sheds some light for me as to why they closed helpee. with helpee open the rio othon palace hotel was a dog of a hotel, no one would stay there and no one would make an investment in it. now that helpee is closed the government is making an investment in the hotel and i'm willing to bet many government officials knew this and have stock in the hotel, it's about greed.

In regards to comments that the Copa termas are closed during Carnaval, I don't know about this year, but last year, both MC and L'Ouomo were opened during Carnaval. The only major terma which was closed during Carnaval lastyear was 4X4 which only opened on the wednesday after Carnaval.
CEO,
Why the huge difference in prices? Has MC gone that far up? Holy shit!!
The only reason in the downtown termas and the Copa ones are the who visits. I'm thinking that downtown has more of a local crowd and Copa are tourists. When was at 4x4 last November I met 2 Brazil army officers who said they others they know visit 4x4 and other for downtown termas for the lack of gringoes. But I went to Cancun and an hour with a girl and one drink was under R300.00. But the chick I sessioned with at Cancun played with the TV for some reason, didn't like me slapping her butt for her marido might see my hand prints on her ass, and she dressed and left the locker-room and returned.
Her name is Vivianne. She's cute and has a nice body.
So I say that 4x4 is the best bang for your buck.

If you are in front of Balcony, on the left there always been box police and often, but not always a car too. But now there is a car on the right of Balcony too, going to princesa isabela just to understand. At least that's what I saw.
I will keep....thanks !

Night club
A few meters on the right of balcon (when you watch the ocean) there is a night club. lLast night 11 pm there was a queue to get in. Anyone been there to say if it is worth it ?

There´s Doce Vita for programmas (love it or hate it - I liked it when I got a girl who could dance and didn´t hustle and stayed all night etc etc). A few yards further along is a non-programma club.

LOL !
Nobody wrote about it, but the toilet at Balcony is the worst I saw in Rio, fucking hot and smell as if they clean it once per year.
I know....who cares, right ? But sooner or later beer after beer, you will have to take a [CodeWord140]....

The downstairs bathroom, that you had to use at Terraço Atlântico was also a nightmare, literally you had to hold your breath, perhaps they designed the Balcony [CodeWord140] room? This had to have been the worst smelling bathroom in the world I have visited!
