Hi Guys,
The best place in Juiz de Fora is 'Saionara', not far from downtown (5 minutes by taxi). Visited it some months ago. The level was OK, plenty of 6-8's and a few 9's, and the prices very low compared to Sao/Rio/Cwb etc. (paid like 50R$ for a girl at the hotel, and she stayed all nigth). They serve draft beer for 6-8 R$ as well.

Any more news, I a friend who when to Juiz de Fora he was crasy about the place. Said there were many good looking students and part timers!

I spent a night here in April of '05. I didn't know what to expect (as a tourist) in this city, as it isn't covered in the Lonely Planet guide (and info on the web is scarce).
Firstly, it's a really beautiful 3 hour bus trip from Rio. Lotsa high jungle; super photogenic.
As there's no tourist info available, I'll give a word or two on orientation and lodgings:
It's a hilly city, and you dirve through its upper "favela-light" upon entering from Rio (airport, I don't know). The bus station is down, lower, off the river. You'll probably want to stay in Centro-commericial (centro, basically). The main thoroughfare here is Av. Rio Branco. Plenty of ATMs here and at the bus station (they'll definitely be 24-7 if the Av. Rio Brano ATMs are closed).
The two best hotels in town are Ritz Plaza (Ave. Rio Branco 2000: 3215-7300) and Victory Plaza Hotel (Av. Independencia: 3249-1850). Both charge 100R or so/night. I stayed at the Ritz. It was fine.
There are TONS of university students here. So, if your Portuguese is good (and you have the patience), pick up the local paper and check out the personals. Also, check out the studuent bars near the entrace to the univ.
The Scene:
I found four clubs in town and no SW scene (though I'm sure there's one somewhere). The clubs are K-2, Blitz Girl, Siaonara and Dallas.
K-2 and Blitz Girl are boite/compounds wherein all facilties are available (bar, rooms, girls, etc.). Blitz Girl is about a 15R cab ride out on the road back to Rio. K-2 is just a little past the rodoviaria, in town, by the river.
I was there on a Mon. -- both clubs were pretty dead. K-2 is reputed to be the best in town. 7-8 girls when I was there -- but there was room for another 100 more (and I was a little early at 10:30 p.m.). Probably pretty good closer to the weekend. Expect girl prices to be in the 150-200R range.
Blitz Girl probably isn't worth the effort. Same as K-2, but much smaller.
Did not check out Dallas. I head it was low-end (though it looked large and upscale from the outside). It's basically right next to K-2 and Siaonara on the other side of the river.
I did take a cute, busty 19 y.o. out of Saionara. She wanted 200R and the house took another 45R for an exit fee. Drinks were 7R (no pressure from girls). Watch out for "house cabbies" here. These sharks will double-charge you off the meter to take the girl back to your hotel or to the numerous love motels out on the road toward Blitz Girl/Rio. You shouldn't pay more than 15-17R to one of these love motels. I went to "Number 1" motel -- 40R for two hours.
You could do worse if you have to overnight in Juiz de Fora. It's not great, but there's a decent scene that rewards a little diligence.

A decent scene, a nice and undervisited city and a good regular nightlife are enough reasons to put Juiz de Fora on my list for the next trip.

I believe I visited this place years ago when I wasn't a monger. It was my friend's hometown. From what I remember, there was a lake in the center of town where you could rent paddleboats. Also, there were horse carriages you could ride around in to explore the streets. Are any of these still around? They would be perfect activities to enjoy with a new-found university student.
