first night in lima
I met up with LimaBusy and some other Americans last night for drinks, and after everyone took off I walked around Miraflores and finally stopped in a bar in the lobby of a hostel. It was crowded and the only seat I found was beside a pretty Peruvian lady in her early to mid 30s. We started to chat and everything went well, and when we didnt understand one another a nice bilingual guy sitting next to her would help us translate. After a while she told him to tell me that we should go somewhere more private to talk.
On the way back to my hotel we ran the gauntlet on Pizza Street, where a guy got her attention for a dance bar with a live band. We danced a lot and after 2 hours my clothes were soaked with sweat, just like in Panama City when you leave the hotel in the morning. We had to leave when I ran out of money, but on the way to the hotel we stopped and she bought a bottle of wine.
We talked while she drank and before long she had finished the whole bottle. She wanted to take a bath together. We put too much water in the tub, so when we got in we flooded the bathroom floor and into the hallway. I used the towels to mop up, and drained the water out of the scale on the floor.
After the full bottle of wine she was really wasted and I didnt think it was a good idea to take it any further. I put her to bed and cursed my luck about not getting laid, while simultaneously praying she wouldnt choke to death on her own vomit as we slept. We woke up this morning surprisingly refreshed and finished what we had started the night before. It was worth the wait, and reminded me why Latinas are the best.
While the chumps in Panama City are dropping $250 bucks a pop I got an adventure and sex in Peru for the price of beers for us and a White Russian for the guy who translated. I think I´m gonna like Lima.

Congratulations Elberto, that's quite an accomplishment.
It was $250 bucks for six pops, not one, over almost 24 hours. And she was a bonafide "9", from the #2 strip club in Panama City. Since incomes in Panama on average are 2X what they are in Peru, I guess you'd be a chump if you couldn't pull a hooker from Emmanuelle for 24 hours for a whole lot less than $125. Why don't you give that a try tomorrow evening.

SDF-LIM flights
Last month most guys were paying $1100-$1300 Hou or Ewr -Lim and about $600.00 or so Mia-Lim. I suggest you fly to Miami on a discount carrier and then come down.
That's not too bad of a plan, LB. In general, you need to find the lowest hubs for Lima. Usually MIA, NYC (EWR, JFK and LGA) and LAX are the best deals.
For the OP: I found a Delta/Copa flight to Lima for $720 all in. Not a pretty routing from SDF though. You'd hit Atlanta, then Miami-Panama City and then Lima. Found on www.expedia.com
Generally you'd find a better price out of Chicago. Here is a tool that I use every day for finding low price flights. I've got it so it shows the lowest prices from Lima to the US.
http://www.farecompare.com/search/compareDestinations.html?departure=LIM
Note that the price it shows is the lowest price *before* taxes and some fees. Most of the time it is better to go to the airlines own website to book, as there are no booking fees, and sometimes they have frequent flyer bonuses for booking.

Other travel options
Hello all! Long time member and lurker here and I am planning my debauchery tour to Peru soon. Me 27, fluent in spanish with trips completed to Dominican R. Costa Rica, and lived in Mexico for a year. What are you paying for airfare? I'm flying out of SDF Louisville, KY, but not opposed to flying to Chicago or other places for cheaper fare. Cheapest I have found is $850 for the beginning of Feb. That to me is ricockulous! I can fly almost anywhere in the world for that money. Any tips or suggestions?
I've answered some of your questions in a response to LB. Here are a few more thoughts.
If the tickets are too expensive, have you thought about cashing in some miles? American Airlines has off season rewards for only 30,000 miles to northern South America.
You can also fly to Central America and use a low mileage award on CO or other carriers for the rest of the distance.
ORD/MDW is probably the lowest cost flight from your neighborhood. Or choose one of the major gateways for better prices. I'd sign up for the email list for LAN. They have sales that aren't on the other travel sites, plus an additional 5% discount for buying online. They will have sales in their Biz class and regular tickets too. I got a $899 in Biz class ticket in late '05 that was a great deal out of LAX.
Here is the listing for the cheapest 20 markets from Lima. (Prices don't include international taxes and some fees)
Miami $447
Los Angeles $551
New York-All Airports $569
Boston $571
Toronto-All Airports $588
Washington-All Airports $591
Philadelphia $656
San Francisco $659
Phoenix $699
Chicago-All Airports $714
Orlando $727
Newark $769
Atlanta $772
Dallas-Fort Worth $772
Seattle $873
Charlotte $911
Denver $925
Minneapolis-St Paul $937
Detroit-All Airports $937
Houston-All Airports $946
Portland $993

flights / banos turcos
My routine is to book with LAN they have a flight that leaves around 1 AM and allows you to work the day before leaving if needed.Cost is around 520 if not in high season , tax incl.MY experiences w/ BT's is relatively new but I am catching on quick.Hotel Bruce was a bad experience (my first) and ended up in a three way arguement with the massajista and the reception. Had a little difficulty with all the different charges. Got FS but only had enough money on me to pay around 160 - 170 S when they were quoting around 250? They asked for a credit card , which I refused for obvious reasons, so I just said I would come back tommorow with more cash. That was about a year ago. Since then I have enjoyed the services of BT in San Miguel -Hostal Arizona across from Hiraoka. 25 S intrance and 120-150S FS .Lots of silicone here. My latest conquest has been Hotel Pacifico just off Via Expressa near the outskirts of Miraflores. Similar prices here with a couple of exotics available. Seemed a little classier than Arizona also. May try RyV next . LATER

Relax y Vida
I went to the Relax Y Vida Banos Turcos tonight, but they were fully booked. Seems it is best to do a reservation. I asked for Viviana mentioned in an earlier report, but they didnt seem to know who I was referring to.
The cost is now 80 S.

Thought I would just say hi and introduce myself. Vet of CR and other central American haunts, soon to be in Peru for work. Will be making multiple trips over the next couple of years, hope to meet some of you soon. It has been great reading and learning; I will post some questions soon, I am sure. For now, I am being a good newby to a new land, and doing a lot of reading.

avoid draft beer in peru
DO NOT drink beer on tap in Peru!
Burn it on your retinas, tattoo it on your thumbs, but don't lift a glass of draft beer to your lips.
DO NOT drink beer on tap in Peru!
Any particular reason? I've been drinking it here for years and actually prefer it to the bottled variety. I've never had a problem with the quality. I prefer pints of red at Palos in San Isidro but also buy a keg every now and then for a party.
-
I just heard about it now, being in Belgium, I mean fuck, WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Plan Zanahoria sucks rabbit balls!
It's such a great feeling coming home wasted around 6AM with some **** and fuck her during the sun rise with the curtains open.
Who is responsible for starting Plan Zanahoria in Barranco? The mayor?
Screwedup,
It is the new Mayor who has proposed it, not sure when it will go into effect. I am sure it will get tied up in court.
Maltrufio, When a newbie gets the "shits" some guys tell them it is from the draft beer (because they do not clean the lines).

After enjoying 6 days stuck in my hotel room, not being able to leave but for short trips for food, drinks, and antibiotics, I had a lot of time to think where I could have gotten sick. And by sick, I mean SICK, like blood in the toilet sick.
I was staying at the Residencial Las Americas where I brushed my teeth with the tap water. I had food and drinks with ice at the Corner Bar and at Cafe Z, and food at Bembos. These seem to be the kind of places with pretty high standards of hygeine and I don't think they were responsible for my illness.
The only other thing besides that was draft beer at the Flying Dog and some dance bar in Calle Pizza. Two days later I felt as sick at my stomach as I have ever been.
I am a newbie in Peru, so my knowledge here is limited. I'm sharing my experience in hopes that no one has to suffer what I did. I'm here for a while, so a week down isn't a major loss, but for someone on a short trip it could be a disaster.
