That's still the same and almost all ATM's I used include the taglish language option. Actually they have no tagalog option .. which isn't that strange cause many of the words used in the ATM screens don't have a tagalog translation. They have to use english terms to make it work.
Right. & a BPI ATM refreshed my memory the other day as to where I first saw it, which was amusing at the time but just a fact now. :-)
I have been to Phil 6 times now in the last 3 years and it seems like every trip at some point I will get sick with a runny nose, stomach cramps and or diarreaha or as the girls call it LBM. It usually lasts 3 or 4 days and may or may not return during the 30 some days I'm there. I always drink bottled water and eat at decent places ( no street vendors ) Just wondered if any of you other mongers have these problems and if so what do you take? Maybe its just too much sex but I never heard of pussy causing these symptoms.
Never travel without imodium and whenever you get a drink soda, icetea always get it without ice.The Ice at all or most places micky d's jolly b,any fast food place can get you sick.As far as the cold goes the dirt in the air and too much a/c can contribute to a sore throat.Good thing is most places "drug"stores can give you what you want over the counter.

Bill, Could you give us a little more information about this. Maybe I missed an earlier question, but I'm confused about why you gave this information.
If you take the ferry across Manila Bay to Orion (east side of Bataan Peninsula), you are still quite a way from Olongapo. Is there something of interest at Orion, or the nearby capital of Bataan - Balanga? I presume you then take a bus to Olongapo (west side of Bataan Peninsula). Is the bus station near the ferry dock or did you use a taxi?
According to my Lonely Planet 2003, the service is run by Mt. Samat Ferry Express three times a day.

Go to any pharmacy and buy 10 500 mg. tables of generic Ciproflaxin. At the first onset of diarreaha, start to take it and take two per day for five days. It will disappear within hours after taking the first pill. This is a seriously excellent antibiotic and it works wonders.

One doc told me that warmer climates will produce a higher bacteria count on everything compared to cooler climates. However, even if you do eat at decent places, if you ever seen a local meat market or "palengke," even the FDA will run for the toilet.

I rarely pay ridiculous restaurant or worse yet bar prices for "mineral water". I can do that for months on end with absolutely no problem. Then, I can sit at home for a week drinking "safe" "purified water" and wham! LBM! I have however noticed that LBM tends to bite shortly after drinking too much with relatives or barkada. Too much alcohol will do it every time, especially combined with pulpy fruit juice, strangely just the same as back in that cooler climate I used to live in.
However, even if you do eat at decent places, if you ever seen a local meat market or "palengke," even the FDA will run for the toilet.
Um, yup! So always make sure whatever you buy, palenke or supermarket, is well cooked! Walang "Steak Tartar" galing palenke, di ba? Sushi and sashimi fish is however a different story since you can't very cook it and call it sushi or sashimi! However, as long as you keep your raw salmon or tuna or whatever on ice on the way home, it won't suffer from a one-hour FX ride home from Baclaran and you shouldn't suffer LBM from it either. Just be observant how the vendor stores it when you're buying, and don't drink too much alcohol that same night, lest your bowels get confused between good and evil.
I think I'll go mix myself some 50/50 local gin & green manga puree now. I keep a supply of Loperamide handy anyway. :-)

Yes it works and if you do it often enough, might possibly build up resistance...and when you then really need it for something serious, it won't work. Tread lightly when self-medicating.....
X-MAN thats where the boat comes in it will not go to subic.Go straight to angelis or turn left for olongapo.

I got sick the very first time I went to the Phillipines. It wasn't bad diahhrea but it stayed with me for like a week. I still don't know what caused it as I am pretty careful where I eat and drink. It went away on it's own. The Immodium didn't seem to help much but I wasn't in real trouble with what I had either. I wonder sometimes about eating lettuce and tomatoes and stuff with sandwiches and burgers as if they wash it with tap water it's probably not a good thing for sensitive stomachs that aren't used to it. I would be careful about taking antibiotics too much if it is not something major as you could become immune to it later and might really need it at another time.
I agree, you should not take the stuff like candy. On the other hand, my gastroenterologist advised me to begin by taking Immodium. He said that if Immodium did not cure the diahhrea I should conclude that I had dysentery and start a course of Cipro. That advice has always worked for me.

After the immodium tales over get some Zithromax for the "littlefella"if and when he gets a nose bleed...
Yes you can buy this over the counter also.
