Any chance we can stop kicking the dead horse?
Mattrick, I recommend you post any charity info right here on the thread where it will do the most good. If you prefer, please send it to my pm.
Here where I live (some of you know where that is) I'm involved in a group that does environmental restoration and also raises money for various things, mostly environmental, but also helping disadvantaged children. At the moment one in Africa and one in SE Asia and also some help with a local orphanage. I also spent time shoveling sludge and scrubbin walls in some of the homes and businesses that were left standing after the tsunami floods.
Stop whining about the Riverside story and find some way you can help the world. I know I'll be traveling to Manila soon and contributing to the economy.
There are numerous organizations in Cebu that work with homeless kids and orphans. If you or any other board members want to donate to a good cause next time you are in town, PM me and I can give you all the info.
It will be interesting to see how he fairs in Cebu next week but judging from his opinion probably not very well.
5 nights in the Summit Circle Hotel
I totally missed the fact that Cebu MidTown (above Robinson's at Fuente Osmena) is now called Summit Circle Hotel.
I used to always stay there before (from 1997 until 2008) but when it became a bit jaded and old and, more importantly, they jacked up the prices, I went elsewhere.
It looks as though it has been renovated (from a website I just saw) and the price is now around 16, 000 php for 7 nights (double) that seems very good to me (I work on the basis that anything under or up to 3000 per night is OK for me).
Any updated reviews on this place please?
I just returned from my Phillipines trip and spent 5 of those night in the Summit Circle Hotel. The hotel was very nice and newly renovated. All ceramic floors in the room (look like hardwood) , granite tile in the bathroom, nice shower with rainfall and handheld, large in room safe, good wifi, fridge, nice couch and sitting area which we had a little in room party, great view of the circle and skywalk / edgecoaster at the crown regency hotel next door.
Room rates where 3600p booked on agoda the first night, next 3 nights were stay 2 nights at 3000p and get the 3rd night free (2000p / night) all including a nice, not great, breakfast buffet for 2. I also needed to extend 1 more night and got a rate of 1800p without breakfast.
The location is good with direct access to the mall, but outside there are a lot of street people. I also tried the Comedy Club across the street. What a mistake. Apparently Comedy club in the Phils is completely different than in the USA. It was a drag queen managing drunken Karaoke.
Also thanks to the board members that PM'd me. My PM is not active at this time so I could not reply.
