Happy C and others,
Please, let's take this to PM's or the Argentina section so we don't bother the Cali board.
There are a few good schools that I checked out. The University of Buenos Aires has a good program. I enrolled in another program that had a solid reputation. It's called Lenguas Vivas. Registration can be done personally at Carlos Pellegrini 1515 or by phone 54-11-4322-3992/3996/3998 extention 103/151. Their fax # is ext 119/113 or email is iesvivas@capital.cf.rffdc.edu.ar
They have regular courses which are two times a week/ two hours per day; 6 levels or you can take the intenstive course which is Monday - Thursday 2 PM to 6 PM. They also have six levels. Each level last 4 weeks except the last Post Advanced course is 2 months. The fee for the intensive classes is only 400 pesos a month. The regular courses are only 50 pesos a month.
You can go there and take a test to see which level you place into. The test is damn hard. I only took one month's worth of classes in the USA but I think I'm just going to start from the beginning to learn some things native to Argentina.
I'm getting a student visa but I'd advise against it unless you have a lot of time and patience. It's easy to stay in Argentina indefinitely by crossing into Uruguay every 90 days. The school doesn't care.
Sorry again Cali board. No more non Colombia talk.
Good luck.

Spanish classes in Cali:
Hola, amigos:
I would like to take some Spanish classes in Cali to professionalize my Spanish, while relaxing. Can you recommend a small (unassuming) place or someone which can indulge? Thank you.
Take it easy,

Hello KW Kids!
Sometimes finding the best city for your own pleasure can to be difficult, but if you don´t want to choose between Cali and La Habana, then you must to visit Rio de Janeiro. In my opinion,Rio is the best option, but I recommend to go between the month of November to April. (The best weather there in Brazil).
Greetings

Cali is overrated
Hola amigos!
I spent a couple of days in Cali in early August. Truth be told, I did not like it, at least as far as the hobby goes.
It is a small provincial town (1.5 M people). Its downtown is very noisy and dusty. What is called the new town (or North) is actually a 400-yard strip (Avenida Sexta). On the plus side, Cali is safe for gringos, unlike what is hyped by Western media, provided you keep a low profile, i.e., you respect people and don't show off.
The casas are very dodgy and amateurishly run. I was unimpressed by the look of the working girls. I would actually be ashamed of myself if I had tried any.
On the other hand, normal Caleñas are overall good-looking. The spectrum of ethnic background is broad (think of Brazil or Venezuela). A much better option is getting dates with those non-pros. Still, you will need Spanish skills and some patience, as you cannot expect to get laid at the first date.
Cartagena is a much better bet than Cali for the hobby and for relaxing. On the other hand, it may be more tourist-oriented, so less genuine; unless you have those language skills that will enable you to go off the beaten track.
Best,
LDP

Pereira info needed!
I am heading for Pereira next weekend for 2-3 days. I need to get there for the Cabalgatta and give my new horse a ride.
I would appreciate some pointers on 2 things there:
1) hotel; I need an affordable but still decent hotel that I could reserve before going there.
2) the scene; casas, girls to call, etc... Pereira is stated to be the city where women have a hearing problem, you tell them to sit down and they actually lie down... Well, my trip will coroborate that.
Thanks to all.

Hey Antifreeze ... I visited Pereira not too long ago. I was visiting a chica i met on Amigos.com but she was driving me crazy so I went on the hunt.
I wish I remebered the name of the main street that had all the bars and clubs on it ... and the street chicas as well.
I remeber talking to several normal chicas just walking around and partying ... very friendly ... one married chica invited me over for some fun saying her hubby was out of town but ... didn't feel like getting killed if / when he came home early.
I found Pereira to be a cool town ... kind of a "mini-Medellin" ... people very friendly.
I think where I can help you is ... I met this cool taxista who showed me casas de chicas, etc.
I actually ended up with a 'friend' of his ... a beautiful 19 year old ... blonde hair ... flaca ... pro but nice.
This taxista was super 'chevere' ... cool. He guided me and showed me Pereira and never once tried to over-charge me.
If you want his contact info send me a message.
Personally ... I wouldn't go to Pereira just for the chicas ... I find Medellin much nicer and lots more choices ... but, if you're going to be there anyway ... fun can be had.

Hey Freeze, WISH I could join you (though I'd pass on the cabalgata part). The girl I took to CTG who studied in Pereira is likely salty at me as I did not respond to her emails after returning home. I DO recall the entertainment area is across a bridge from the main part of town in an area called Dos Quebradas or similar.
There is a Melia hotel but WAY pricey. I had planned to stay at Soratama Hotel on Plaza Bolivar (but ended up taking the Princess to San Andres instead).
Hope to see you before too long, but now I am getting back into Asia mode a bit. Kinda like bipolar disorder for MEN (can't decide between Latinas and Asians (: ).
Take Care my friend.
PS Your password should work again as the technical issues on the private board seem to have been resolved.

Pereira is a great city and when I was there I really liked it a lot. Like Ricker said it is sort of a "Mini Medellin" of around a million people and I find it to be a nice mix of both Cali and Medellin. Its a real pretty city and very clean, with nice mountains all around. As far as the girls go you get a nice mix of the Calena look with the morena's with black hair, and there is a fair amount of light skinned girls there as well like Medellin.
I really had a hard time finding a lot of hooker houses and believe me I looked all over for them, so if your going just for the pay for play option Cali is the best choice because it has way more houses then Pereira and Medellin combined.
As far as working normal girls I really dont agree with ricker in that its not a good destination. I found it to be an excellent option. I have always like the girls in Cali because in general they are super friendly, and the girls in Pereira are just as warm as the calanas. In general you will find that until they get to know you the girls in Medellin are a little more stand off-ish, and I find it more difficult to approach them as a complete stranger.

I appreciate your input JMan, as well as yours Ricker.
JMan, would you have some addresses for casas or hotels to provide me so I can have a smoother landing in Pereira? I am really almost empty-handed, and not to be prepared may mean having a lousy trip, which is not high on my wish-list.
Thanks in advance.

FUCK FUCK. I wish if the pic was too big you didn't lose ALL your goddammed text when posting. SHIT!!
I am going to post this fucking pic first then my thoughts.

Ok here are my reprinted (sort of) thoughts.
I had the same experience as LDP. I had been to Cali once and hated it, went again, liked it better but still no match for Cartagena.
On the whole LDP said it all. The casas just aren't 'all that' and the talent pool is pretty shallow. I would've been ok with that if they had been cooler, but you really had to work harder to have a chick mellow out and drop the 'hard-core' 'tude than in Cartagena.
To be fair, I did meet the hottest chick of my entire trip in Cali (although the one I call 'the Goddess' comes close in Cart). I also had to pay her more than any other chica the entire trip (this time though, I really thought I got what I paid for). That's her pic below. Trust me, the front was even better than the back. I had rarely beheld such perfection in my life. She wanted something like 600k for the night. Totally out of what I was paying but I gotta say, I have some regrets I didn't do it.
I did meet Freeze and we chilled for awhile. I took a hike to 3 Crosses about an hour after this chica left my hotel and dehydrated got up at the ungodly vacation hour of 8 to start our hike at 9. There was some dude selling CARROT JUICE at the top of this mountain. I couldn't believe it. Some of the best carrot juice I ever had.
I also met the coolest Colombian hippy on the street. The guy was totally cool and sold me a few special cigarillos for a very cheap (2k a blunt) price. Damn special stuff, and I know my tobacco (*g*)
Also had a great hotel, and while I've heard some say they will hassle the chicks, I never had a prob. In fact, this one lil cutie (the best deal by FAR in Cali at 60k a pop) came by and door dude escorted her to my room (mm... maybe Cali wasn't so bad after all).
I think if I go back (and yeah, I probably will) I will hook up with a couple dudes that have some freelancer chica's digits. I will also avail myself a little more of the street scene. There are some diamonds in that rough.
But still, my first choice is going to be Cartagena , Cartagena, Cartagena. You get the pimping apartmento and you will get totally sucked into the vortex known as Laguito. You will ***** about it. You will be back. Trust me on this!

Since I have not been able to find transportation for my horse to go to Pereira, I had to cancel my trip. Thanks anyway to everyone provided the information but, sadly there won't be any report.

Panicked Prostitutes Flee Colombian City
Interamericas Press, September 4, 2004
By Carlos Carajo, Staff Reporter
Cali, Colombia
Hundreds of prostitutes mobbed local bus stations in Cali, Colombia, early Friday, seeking to flee this picturesque Colombian city. Tickets to all destinations soon sold out, and some tickets were being resold for double and triple their face value by opportunistic scalpers.
The mass exodus of traumatized trollops began on Friday morning when the authorities announced the imminent arrival of the notorious bisexual Gringo couple, SIMPLE MAN and FRIJOLE.
By 3 P.M. Friday afternoon, photos of the fearsome duo had been distributed to the area brothels, and the exodus grew to a full-scale torrent of panicked putas. Amelia Gonzales, 19, who normally works at Flores Frescas, an upscale Cali brothel, waited in line for four hours to buy a one-way bus ticket to Bogota, where she plans to become a nun. "I have been ravished by hundreds of smelly sweaty drunk guys, and I have to perform in the Lesbian dildo show every night" she says, as she waits for the bus to leave, "but even I have to have some self-respect and draw the line somewhere!".
Adding to the fear were reports from working girls who actually survived previous encounters with the Gringo duo. Elisabeth Hernandez, 22, who had serviced FRIJOLE in 2003, recalls showering repeatedly for hours after the nightmarish encounter. "I felt dirty for months afterwards. I pray to the virgin every day to help me forget, but nothing could erase those horrible memories".
Carmen Varijas shudders as she recalls her 2003 encounter with SIMPLE MAN. “I felt like I was having sex with El Diablo himself” she sobs, “the only thing that saved me was that his penis was very small, I had not seen one so small like that since third grade!” Ms. Varijas still wakes up screaming at least once a week, but she manges to survive with the help of her faith. "I would kill myself but I would leave my beautiful little 2 year old daughter motherless. I live now only for her, to protect her from having a hellish experience like I had."
Nervous non-working women also packed local markets, stocking up on food and water so they would not have to emerge from their homes while the Gringos are in Cali. Rosa Valencia, 87, said she realized it was unlikely that the Gringos would ravish her, but decided she wasn't taking any chances. She bought enough food to stay indoors for at least two weeks.
City authorities declared martial law and posted armed guards in fornt of the city's elementary schools. Beginning Monday morning teams of volunteer psychologists will be visiting all local brothels and elementary schools to counsel women, and especially any young girls, who become suicidal after seeing the Americans naked. The Cali Fire Department was also put on alert, and its Hazardous Materials Squad is prepared to dispose of any used condoms discarded by the Americans.
Cali Secretary of Tourism Hector Ramirez bemoaned the damage that would befall Cali's reputation as a result of the Gringo visitors, saying "I don't know why those two homos don't just stay in Mexico and bugger each other. We even tried to get FARC to kidnap them, but they refused".

often times when one wrongfully attributes characteristics to others it is because they are trying to control their own unsavory urges. knowing chuponalgas i understand that his calling me a bi-sexual, homosexual and **** are his pathetic cry for help as he is loosing his battle against his own unnatural urges. accordingly instead of anger i feel pity towards the pathetic creature he has become.
ps chuponalgas, would you like to go skiing? i hear its great this time of year.
