Cherry Blossoms
Asian Rain - I stayed in Cherry Blossoms a few weeks ago and completely agree with your report. Value for money, location and service, it's a top hotel. It's close to LA Cafe and all the Ermita action, staff are attentive without being intrusive, breakfast is great and the rooms are clean. Highly recommended.

LA Cafe -G-Point
was in la cafe a few weeks ago. girls were all freelancers and on average a 6.5. a few pains in the arse. prices for st were about pesos 1,000. more importantly the food was good and cheap, and the draught was cold! at the time of writing i heard that g-point has closed for a few months attributable to a pesos 3m fine for employing **** gros. anyone have more information on that?

Manila Pavilon
Has anyone ever stayed at the Manila Pavilon either in it's current carnation or its previous one as a Holiday Inn? I have found that it's getting better as they are finishing the renovations.

Malate or Makati
First time trip to Manila and AC. Would like to have some feed back on which city I should shack up and shag in?
Maybe some veterans could recommend a couple of hotels in each city. My price range is 2500-4000 Peso per night. I would like to have a pool, lounge, and 24 hour room service.
A breakdown of Pro's and Con's would be appreciated.

the la cafe was closed for about three weeks, but is now re-opened. the g-point didn't close and it's business as usual.

Kalahari George,
What kind of breakfast? Buffét, with a lot of choices, omeletts etc?
Last few times in Manila I stayed at old "Westin Phil Plaza" (name changed now), and they had a superb breakfast.
breakfast is great
Stayed at both the old Holiday Inn Luneta Park (now Pavilion) and the Westin (now Sofitel). I MUCH prefer staying further South as Ermita is just too congested and too full of touts and swindlers. Traffic is bad, sidewalks terrible etc etc etc.
Disadvantage to Westin/Sofitel is remoteness; you want to go check the internet or buy a snack, you must go to Harrison Plaza ands are at the mercy of taxi drivers who are resistant to using meters for trips originating at the hotel. GREAT swimming pool, best in town, plus great sunsets.
I like staying at Heritage or Copacabana due to proximity to EDSA Complex (right across the street), Mall of Asia (less than 1 km away) and the airport. A LOT quieter and less congested than Ermita too. If you will hit LA Cafe regularly, I suggest Cherryblossoms Hotel at Robinson's Mall or Executive Plaza (if you have money like a Japanese, stay with them at the 5 star Diamond across the street). I suppose if you want to burn money then you could also stay, and monger, in Makati.

Pan Pacific
Still very nice but an extra block to LA Cafe. WAS disapointed last stay when i booked on internet and got two single beds, so am shy to stay there again when Hyatt has never let me down.

What did they hit you up per night price wise?
Thanks

Hyatt around $82-85 and Pan Pacific around $95. The suite was a upgrade.

Those are not rack rates Floyd. You must have used Asiatravel.com or some other booking service. Still more than I care to pay as I'd rather spend my $$ on things besides fancy hotel rooms but to each their own. Suppose if I only went once or twice a year I'd splurge on rooms but I prefer to go every 2 to 3 months and use 3 or 4 star hotels instead of 5 star. Heritage is plenty plush for my taste. I also think girls will expect l;arger tips if you stay in posh hotels (and will think you koriput if you do not tiop them VERY well as thjey see you as a big spender).
I actually LIKE twin beds as I sleep WAY better without an LBFM (or worse yet a FWC!) next to me. Even when I was married I often would go sleep downstairs in my sports room as Filipinas are USED to sleeping 10 to a room and they tend top roll around a lot and spoon with you a lot. I like that, no I LOVE that, but NOT when I am trying to sleep.

Surfer, I only stay in a top hotel when i arrive for 2-3 nights and rest is spent in hotels like oxford inn, paco park etc.
Both hotels were booked thru the hotels own websites. Hyatt was $82 when it opened but now is up to 90 i think.Sam as what happenned with Conrad hotel in BKK. Was $81 for reg rooms but now up to $115.
I am consideringg staying at the Manadrin Oriental when i arrive next trip, I spend most of my time in Phils with my GF and only play now in Cebu,AC and Thailand.
