bendover57:
you might have been mislead by some stories where the host of the Korean company serviced their buisness guest with extravagant room salon and other entertainment luxuries. Remember that it took some time before they bonded and freely talked about some of these sexual taboos with their clients. I can't imagine mentioning these places to your buisness guestsy. They probably thought it would be rude to mention these places to you guys. I disagree with stud_lee in that your Korean hosts purposely kept these things away from you because you are a foreigner. They probably were to embarrassed to talk about these things to strangers.

While it may be true that this guy's hosts were a bit embarrassed about these topics around the likes of “strangers”, a lot of Korean men I consider “friends” go out of their way to dissuade me from going after Korean women. I know I’m not the only “foreigner” with this experience.
Furthermore, a lot of Koreans I talk to boast about how they like to treat their business guests to “pleasure” and a “good time”. It’s a big thing and part of Korean business culture; why would so many of these places be charging the prices they do if this was not the case? A good friend of mine (a genuinely nice Korean guy) tells me “treating” your business colleagues is nothing out of the ordinary...even if they’re “strangers”. Sadly, I was never on the receiving end of such hospitality, at least on my business ventures, but I wouldn’t doubt that it exists. Maybe it depends on who you are?

Bendover,
Excellent report!
As a native Korean, I feel I have to comment something on your report, though.
You might have some 'communication problem' with your clients. The word 'entertainment' means, to usual Koreans, just 'entertainment thru music, dance, etc'.
We have learnt, for all of our school days, that WESTERNERS DON'T LIKE TO HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS ON THE BASIS OF MONEY. Now, I know it's not true, but still many Koreans believe so.
Furthermore, and frankly, room salon will cost lots and lots of money, so you need to make them (your Korean counterparts) convinced in their getting the benefits when they spend lots of money for you.
Anyway, your venture to a barborshop was a great one, I have to say.

Bendover, what you have experienced is pretty typical experience at barbershops from my own experience and what I have heard here. My first ever experience at one barbershop for KW60,000 was just handjob but she asked me if I wanted oral. As novice and little nervous as I was, I left the decision up to her and she did oral on me and let me cum in her mouth, which was very satisfying. Few other times, I also paid the same price at different place than the first for handjob only. Third place I ever visited said KW 90,000 for fs so I took it. Your routine was same as mine, led to a little cubicle with pull-curtain and undress, lock your belongings and changed into a pajama like pants and wait; a woman comes to you but with dim lights and without my glasses, I can't tell her looks immediately until my eyes adjust and she come close enough. She first washes your feet; ask you to lie on your stomach as she massages for 5-10 minutes. Then, she asks you to follow her to a very dark corner and she uses remote button to open a door leading to an alley and she closes the door behind as after we entered. At the end of the alley, there are small cubicles with massage table with water faucet. She asks you to get naked as she gets naked. Once inside, she locks the door and she washes you down. When you lie down, she performs cbj and rides you like there is no tomorrow and then any position of your choice to finish off.
My only complain is I wish I can find barbershops where there are younger women, instead of 30 somethings.

Is that true??? Wow! I didn't know that!

Daniel,
You wrote: we learnt, for all of our school days, that WESTERNERS DON'T LIKE TO HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS ON THE BASIS OF MONEY. (Shout it out, brother!)
This is was actually a part of the curriculum?! Or was it a response to an inquisitive kid asking "what's with all these women standing behind windows?" and "why do some barber shops have two poles and others only have one?"?
As korea invented international sex tourism (Japanese men) and also international baby selling (western couples), making money on both the "deposit" and "withdrawal", I guess the business model of the sex trade is/was important to study.
I've had the gut busting pleasure of reading some of the bizarro-world "facts" published in some of the text books, but haven't run across the sexual behavior of westerners, yet. Intel of the title would be appreciated.
All,
Camp Towns: Not appropriate to the seoul section, but there have been previous posts about them here. Was speaking to a club owner beside CP Howze (highway 1, just south of bongilchun, about a dozen clubs) who reported that bringing Russians and Filipinas into korea is now more difficult, and moving them along the CP Casey/CP Hovey, CP Red Cloud, CP Howze, Songtan (Osan AB), CP Humphreys circuit is almost impossible. Clubs depend on this circuit to keep rotating "new" girls in and keep customer interest, but now the clubs can no longer do so. A girl staying at a club for a long while develops a relationship with a soldier, he provides financial support, she doesn't go with any more customers, and the business dies. Enjoy seeing the advantage to the girl rather than the old hag behind the bar, but I am a customer with slimmer pickings now :-( And yes, I am a hypocrite ;-)

Not in official national curriculum, of course, but this is exactly I was taught from my childhood.
My teachers told me that 'There's no 'under-the-table-money' in western, advanced countries'. I don't know how we find the English word 'under-the-table-money', though.
When I got a job, my seniors told me 'By offering sexual service, westerners could change the deal terms not in a single dollar'.
Anyway, this is what exactly I was told and taught.
And hutsori, do you really think Koreans INVENTED sex tourism for Japanese? IMHO, it was invented by Japanese themselves. What do you think?

Daniel,
Sounds like your teachers weren't too knowledgeable; naive at best. Strange that they garner so much respect. Your business mentors got it spot on.
Words to describe under-the-table money: bribe, kickback, influence peddling. The word rebate is incorrectly used by koreans to describe a kickback. These are what put korea's past presidents, their family members, and business leaders in the clink.
Well documented that previous korean governments (park & chun) supported the sex tourism business aimed at bringing in the Japanese. Needed that hard currency, you know. Probably didn't have a hard time pitching it to Japanese tour operators. But korean invented, owned and managed it was...and is. (BTW, ever wonder if park, when he was a Japanese military officer, visited any of the "comfort wormen"?)

Hey SeoulSurvivor
I just moved to Seoul from NYC.
I went to a KTV place in town with some Korean friends but the girls were not nearly as "friendly" as in your story.
What do you have to say / pay early on to let them know you want to party? Will all girls party in the room instead of going to a motel?

I have become very partial to Bukchang-dong as a fun destination for a little bit (okay, a lot) more than Itaewon. Obviously, since I don't have W3,000,000 to throw around every night like our friend "assetman" from Lone Star, yes, I'm a worthless piece of shit -- but I can say that Bukchang-dong can be a very enjoyable night out.
My last excursion was with a single running-mate, another Korean-speaking white guy. We hit my favorite place in Bukchang-dong around 11:00 p.m. with bellies full of kalbi and beer, smiles on our faces and stiff pricks at attention. Partly this was due to having downed a Vitamin V with dinner, but partly due to anticipation of a great time.
Bukchang-dong is the wildest "KTV" karaoke-style district in Korea that I've found yet. If there is another drinking-and-stripping-and-blowjob-or-fuck-in-the-room-with-your-friends area, let me know. I really like it.
This last time, my female partner sat on my face during the "introduction", grinding her pussy into my tongue, and it just got wilder from there. Standing blowjob while singing, fuck on the table, spreading ass cheeks for a gyno show, 69, round-robin partner swap, etc. We retired to a hotel for a four-way fuckfest.
Anybody else for this send e-mail to ssurv@hotmail.com. Helps if you're youngish, good looking, speak Korean, and are willing to spend W500-600,000.
hutsori: you seem to boast that you know a lot about the asian culture from your purported understanding of its history. I was wondering if you are white or oriental. As I was purusing through the comments you made to Daniel_You, I had hard time understanding your point. I think Daniel_You was merely suggested his reasoning for why some of the Korean businessmen acted the way they did. What are you arguing for?

stud_lee, yaoming, daniel_you, amateur, and hutsori
Thank you very, very much for your response(s) to my post... I really appreciate your input, it is very helpful. However, I need to clarify some of my remarks (I'm still not communicating clearly... I apologize for that). First, I did not expect (or want) my Korean hosts to provide expensive sexual "entainment"... I just wanted them to discretely point-me in the right direction so I could obtain my own "entainment" in private (we Westerners are also too embarrased to ask for this information directly from a business associate).
I was hoping my hosts would take my hint and respond with... "If you want a hair cut, don't go to the barber shop across the street from your hotel, because it is a AMP that specializes in SEX"... or if you want a hair cut... "Make sure you go to a barber shop with only one (1) pole, because the barber shops with two (2) poles are AMP's that specialize in SEX". Actually, I still don't understand if the number of barber poles indicates SEX or hair-cut. Is there a difference... did I "luck-out" on my first experiece?
Another example, in Thailand, I've had a host say..." I know that you gentlemen (he used the term loosely) would not partake, but for educational purposes, if you choose to observe the Thailand SEX scene, here are some locations close to your hotel... and, oh by-the-way, if you get drunk and loose control, take these "no-sweat-pills"... which I provide to all visitors" even though I know they will not be used!!! He knew we were "gentlemen"... but he was also astute enough to know we wanted some tight Asian pussy !!!

yoaming,
Only white or asian? Something seems amiss. Not on your radar? Me? Two of them. But what's the relevance?
Asian culture? Strange. My comments were specific to korea. Nothing mentioned about Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, etc. They are asian cultures, aren't they? I haven't boasted about purported understanding of asian cultures. The reason for your extrapolation? Your reading comprehension?
Daniel_You's post of WESTERNERS DON'T LIKE... really wasn't very informative. Bizarre, yes. Hence the follow up posts from both stud_lee and me. Daniel_You's reply was much more illuminating, ie spot on, in that korean businessmen realize there is no additional money to be made by spending several million won entertaining westerners. Good business sense; nothing to quibble about here. And, if you think about it, having absolutely nothing to do with under-the-table money, which was evidently a topic of such great interest to korea's teachers during Daniel_You's school days that it left its mark.
Had Daniel_You's first post stated "You gotta pay to play" or "Don't be a sponge" it would have better provided his reasoning for why some of the korean businessmen acted the way they did. The in-my-school-days line was a load of tripe.
Perhaps a suggestion to western businessmen to use their spending account $$$ and take their korean counterparts out will open the doors. "I've got the dough, but I don't know where to go." I know it works and you'll be tongue deep in women.
No argument was made. What was requested, albeit very indirectly, was for clarity. And that, my friend, is always the point.

bendover57,
"I just need a haircut. Do I go to the barber shop w/ one pole or two?"
"I need a massage, but I don't like blind people. Where should I go?"
If you aren't keen to party with your counterparts, and you don't speak korean, you've severely limited your options. Doing things on your own is more a western behavior than korean. Anything involving alcohol such as hostess club, a noraebang or even 588 tends to be a group activity. Even going to a massage palour/bathhouse/turkey tang/sports massage can be a group activity. Then you'll have a male gochu chingu (penis friend), which sounds really gay, but isn't.
There are low-end bars where a lone korean male may go to drink with an older, 30+, woman. Look for small bars w/ no windows, typically on side streets, and that have signs on which is written yangju (whiskey) and maekju (beer)--both in hangul. The establishment, the women, and the customers tend to be a bit rough. Again, not knowing korean may make for an awkward time.
If you're not an adventuresome, type A personality then offer to treat your counterparts. They'll know where to go.

I do not profess to be an expert about Korean barbershops, but I sure would like to learn more about the pleasures of them. Things have changed a lot the 14 years I’ve been in Seoul.
The sure giveaway for a barbershop with extra services was one that was in the basement. Didn’t need two poles or other fancy advertising. I have never been disappointed with a basement barbershop – except one when I went in really for a haircut. A young but plump girl assisted the barber. After he was finished, I was sure she would work me over, so to speak. Never happened. Everyone wants to get a young girl. This is all relative to one’s age. I’m 51, so young to me is anything 35 and below. The average age of barbershop women went up right after the 1997 economy crash. There were many reports of housewives going to work in barbershops. The places were being busted because they had “too many” condoms.
Did have a nice young one before 1997 when the exchange rate of 800 won to the dollar. Stopped in a basement shop by Pagoda Park in Chongno. Was strange because it was the first time – and only time -- the barber quoted the price up front: 80,000 won. He left and a thin young thing proceeded to work me over in the chair. This lasted about 10 minutes when she motioned for me to follow. Note: I can speak very little Korean, and it has not been a great hindrance. There was a mat on the floor where she quickly stripped, and I did the same. She slipped the condom on during a BJ, and then climbed right on top. Was worth the $100.
I’ve seen many barbershops where there is not a barber around. And, many of the barbershops have taken the chairs out and just put in mattresses. There is a place like this next to the Yongsan post office. First time I went, the older woman just did a massage, and wanted 30,000 won. Went back again after a few months, and there were two new women. I had a good massage, adequate HJ, and then the second woman came and climbed on while the first one played with my nipples. Been back many times, but these women are gone.
Barbershop women like to stick their fingers in your ass. They also like to have their pussies eaten. I know, not the safest practice, but it just is so delicious. My current barbershop friend just about drops her panties every time I walk in the door. While I am laying in the chair, she puts one leg up on the stool so I can nibble away. Again, she is one of the married women who joined the trade.
I know the women are a lot younger in Kangnam, but the price also is a lot higher. To me, there is nothing wrong with strong hands and tight lips at a reasonable price.
