Hello,
I have done a substantial amount of RTFF but I have a few questions if you don't mind.
I've been to Medellin twice. I think it's a great place to monger but for me it lacked other things to do and the food was less than desirable. I've spent two weeks there on each trip. When it comes time to go home I am more than ready to leave. If I had to be there I would make do but. You get the point.
I was thinking of doing a one month tour around the country going from CTG to Baranquilla Cali Medellin then end in Bogota. The more I research the more I don't want to do that. I assume I will need at least a few days to acclimate to the altitude in Bogota so that would cut into precious time. I don't travel light and the prices fluctuate within the country too much. Also concern of getting bored during the downtime.
Bogota. Can you spend 3 weeks to a month there without getting bored? Women are one thing but I need more. I am not a huge drinker (I prefer what comes from mother earth) and prefer to keep busy during the day.
Can you see movies with ease?
Is the food good?
Easy to get around?
Day or overnight trips worth taking/Photography?
Overall expenses (I would stay in the sante fe area "centro" like I do in Medellin) same prices as buenos aires or cheaper than or = Lima? I don't eat in dives or off the street. I spend at least $40 US a day for a hotel and at least $10/12 for lunch $20 for dinner. Can I get a good spread for this at a decent mid range restaurant?
IS it crazy like Medellin with glue sniffers and weed smokers in plain sight?
From what I read I would have numerous pfp budget options for under $50 US which is my limit. All this is good but is it fun like buenos aires or Lima Peru? I've done numerous trips of one month to those countries and times goes by way too fast.
Is Bogota in the same category or is it one of those places you want to spend a week then move on?
By the way it would coincide with birthday number 40! I wouldn't want to be bumming out.
Thank you for your time. I promise a full report if I go.
Artisttyp
Loads of questions there. I spend many months each year in Bogotá and am never bored here. Yes to pretty much all your questions. No glue-sniffers I've ever come across.
I wouldn't stay in Santa fe though, though my concerns about the area are are frequently rubbished by some here.
