Touristic police (Politur) arrested 30 dominican and haitian girls in Sosua today. The girls were acussed of prostitution and robbing to tourists. The girls used narcotics to sleep their victims and stealing their possesions.
The operative respond to the persistent complaints and denunciations of the hotel industralists of Sosúa and Puerto Plata, as well as of the own tourists, of which they were objects of despoliation of properties .
Longer drinking hours for some
The Ministry of the Interior and Police has announced that it will relax some restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages. The new measure will allow bars and other venues to stay open longer on one, specified, day a week.
In order to obtain the permission required, the establishment must request a permit in writing, specifying which day of the week they wish to remain open for the extended period. According to El Nuevo Diario, Minister Franklin Almeyda made the announcement during a meeting with bar, nightclub and restaurant owners. Each establishment must ensure proper security, including strict supervision of weapons and a safe place to store them. Santo Domingo has some 600 nightspots and over 65,000 corner stores known as "colmadones" that feature loud music and sidewalk service.
The decision could herald the end of the ban on alcohol sales outside hotels nationwide. The ban is in effect after midnight on Monday to Thursday, and after 2am on weekends and holidays.
I found the link for the liquor story on DR1 but I couldn't find mention of the sosua round -up. Do you have a source for that story ? Oddly enough getting drugged *and robbed is not something I have heard people talk about in sosua. Usually it's just a question of things missing and the occasional slap/hit/ presence of a knife.
I did find another website that mentioned a drug gang shoot out in the charamicos neighborhood the last week of may. Does anyone know about this ?
Again I never got a bad vibe from charamicos. Many of us have walked around there and made new friends.
It seems to me that there is alot more surfacing these days. I saw some hells angels down there which is really weird.
here is the link to 1 of the stories which is unfortunately in spanish

One report says dominican girls were involved the other says only haitian girls.
I don't understand how the police or anyone for that matter can point out 30 girls and say so and so did this to a tourist. It seems to me that this is more of an immigration issue than anything else.
Like I said I've never heard of anyone getting drugged in sosua.
It was also mentioned that they were *accused of prostitution. What genius figured that one out ?
It smells like racism to me. Personally I never mess with the haitian girls. They do nothing for me in the looks department and they seem like they are a nuisance to negotiate with.

One girl, Vanessa was her name, tried wine, beer, spirits, green and white over the course of a night to try knock me out. It failed, but I did still get robbed for some pesos, as I made a noob mistake of paying upfront.

Hells Angels

Hells Angels, I think mostly from their Quebec club, have become a regular presence in Caberete. DR1 has some comments. It's not a one time thing.

I've heard that and I guess it makes sense with the drug trade etc. but I still don't see the attraction for them.
Merengue and motorhead don't really mix. I'd love to know more .

maybe the government thinks these types of examples will create a peer policing mentality so others in order to protect their own jobs. sounds far fetched but didnt your parents punish both you and your sibling because they could not figure out who did it? same mentality except it is now grown-up professionals in a 3rd world country.
i could be way off base but what the heck... its a thought.

Hell's Angels Quebec chapter were visible when I was in Sosua in January. They even rolled into Classico's one nite on their bikes and parked with the concho guys! As I departed, more were arriving at POP airport. Did not see them in March however.

Sosua to santiago
Anyone ever been to Casablanca and Ilusion or Pasion in Santiago?
How far would it be from Sosua? how much by Taxi?
Or anyone know the hours for the places?
-
You better off renting your own car to go out there own your own because taxis will rip you off to take you back and forth from Sosua if thats what you are trying to do. It is about 1.30 from Sosua to Santiago and a taxi from Sosua will charge you no less than 50US.

I have never been but I doubt if it is worth the effort. I bet you won't find anything different than what you will find in Classicos. A taxi is probably going to run you close to $80 one way. I've been to Santiago and in my opinion it is no biggie.

I have been to both Illusions and Passions and, although I enjoyed myself while there, I would not travel from Sosua to go there, and I definitely would not take a taxi to go.

Slow down
Just back from Sosua. Flights have gone up to go in pop, the secret is fly in Santiago and catch metro bus to Sosua (290p). The Sosua girls are looking sad and desperate. I could actually walk through Classicos at 12:30am and not bump into anybody. Streets were relatively empty compared to two months ago. Ex Girlfriend I haven't spoke to in a year called to beg for 100 dollars. High light of trip was sister of girl I used to hit said she heard I like it rough sometimes. We took a soappy shower and as she was drying off, I grabbed her by her hair, made her crawl to the bedroom and give me BJ. Mean while I grabbed the lube and a condom and prepped her ass. It was a wwf free fall, the rougher I got the more she fucked me back. Sosua is still full of adventure, its about what you want.
