Airport pick up
Hello, I need your advice. I've booked a flight to Cartagena that arrive late at night, about midnight. I would know if there is an airport taxi service at that time or if you can suggest me someone who can do it. I'd prefer to avoid unsafe situations.
Thanks,
Mist
When I was in CTG last year, I remember that during the day there aren't a lot of pros inside the walled city. Maybe you should try Parque Centenario.
thanks. Familiar with that area. But still looking for places inside the walled city. Got to be a gem or two there!
thanks. Familiar with that area. But still looking for places inside the walled city. Got to be a gem or two there!
Just go to Hotel Santa Clara and plop down in the square outside the hotel's main entrance. See all those vendedores ostensibly in the cheap souvenir business? Chat them up. It usually only takes a few minutes: "You don't need any souvenirs, amigo? Bueno pues, what is it you do need?"

Whoever you're staying with, be it Juan, Mery or a hotel, can organise this for you. However, I wouldn't bother. You'll pay 2x or 3x the regular fare ($18k COP) and Cartagena taxis are very safe on the whole.

This trip review is a couple weeks old, I did a visit to Cartagena from June 29th to July 4th. I'm having issues with my digital camera, and will try to post a couple pics once the damn thing cooperates. I got into town early Friday afternoon and checked into Mirador 1402 from Juan, which is the penthouse with a Jacuzzi. For those of you thinking about renting it, note that it does not heat the water but I've figured out a good method to keep the water piping hot, pm me if you are thinking about renting the place out.
Anyways, after getting checked in and loading up at Carullo, I met up with a fellow ISG member at the beach. Overall, the beach talent wasn't great on Friday, and I decided to rest up for Friday night. I headed over to LDV around 11PM and it was fairly slow, so I decided to checkout Fragma. Fragma has a ton of hot girls, but seems to be more of a regular club, I couldn't quite figure out which chicks were prepagos, but still had a fun time at the club. Ended up at Elektra where the talent was pretty good. I was chatting it up with a cutie from Medellin, but we weren't able to agree to the price and I foolishly let her go, my biggest regret of the trip. I ended up taking back a girl from Bogota for TLN for COP 200K, smoked and fucked in the Jacuzzi for a bit before passing out. Overall a decent session with dfk, multiple rounds and a great ass, but all these prepagos seem to have war wounds from popping out kids, this one's tits were a bit stretched and saggy, disappointing.
Saturday I ended up at the beach to relax and didn't see much great talent. I spent my time in Fao's chairs as I find him to be more relaxed and honest than Tony, and I used Jaison when I needed to track down chicks. The weekend was a holiday weekend, but unfortunately it was flooded with families instead of semi-pro putas, even seasoned mongers and Jaison commented that they have never seen this many families. I ended up finding a nice little spinner with some personality through Jaison, and took her back to the apartment for daytime fun. Same story, her tits showed war wounds from pregnancy, but she was a pretty good lay and definitely would have stuck around TLN for a fairly low $$. I gave her an amount I thought was fair after we grabbed a nap and another fuck.
Saturday night I met a negra-version of Nicole Scherzinger at LDV that I had to take back to the apartment. We smoked, fucked and enjoyed some cee before she headed off, probably to catch a late night trick at Elektra. She was a great GFE and we never spoke about the amount, though I took care of her. This was the only girl I met during my trip that didn't show war wounds from a pregnancy.
I stayed in Cartagena Sunday – Wednesday, and would not recommend staying past Sunday. The beginning of the week is EXTREMELY slow, with many of the girls not coming out to on Sunday / Monday / Tuesday. There is very little for me to write about the last few nights, and I thought I would leave you with a few things I learned on my trip:
+ DO NOT plan to have a great selection at LDV / Elektra on Sunday – Tuesday.
+ If you stay in CTG those nights, grab a bunch of numbers earlier so that you have some girls lined up for the slow part of the week.
+ Spend time (and yes, money) feeling out the girls in LDV / Elektra before heading back to the apartment. 2 drinks at the bar is much cheaper than wasting your time with a bad session.
+ Try to find girls without kids, it is amazing how many of these girls have 2 or more kids!
+ Jaison and Fao are a good alternative to Tony on the beach.
+ Overall, the talent level seems down versus last year.
My next trip to CTG will only be for Thursday – Sunday morning, but I think my next visit in Colombia will be to the high end Bogota spots.

a few more items i forgot to mention:
+ don't get to ldv before 11:30, its a complete ghost town with only the ugly girls there hoping to grab someone before the hotties come in.
+ make a selection at elektra before 4ish, unless you don't mind scraping the bottom of the barrel.
+ if the guy at the elektra door is charging you cover, talk to aldo and he'll sort it out. they charge some people cover to keep out the gawkers, and the doorman was only following the managers directions. the manager wasn't too pleased when aldo told him to give me the cover charge back, hah!

Not if you have money

Reasonable for CTG.
Met some of the hottest girls their! If your not on a budget, the most best plase to monger! Hot hot hot! 75$ girls!
Yes Electra has a great selection, and the girls are hungry at that time of the night. As far as not being on a budget that price for the 8's 9's, and few 10's is very good for a budget monger in CTG.

Thinking about going to Cartagena but I keep hearing its expensive a city. Some my question is what make it an expensive places. Oh yeah quick sidenote my calena would be with me and we would be there a week.
Good report and info, thanks.
Curious. Where are Jason and Faio located. Tired of dealing with this guy Tony!

CTG is expensive.
Thinking about going to Cartagena but I keep hearing its expensive a city. Some my question is what make it an expensive places. Oh yeah quick sidenote my calena would be with me and we would be there a week.
Many Colombians go there for a holiday. Also as it is a very safe city. This causes Gringos to go there. Not only Mongers, but tourists who like the history of the city. Also Any beach town is always expensive compared to normal citys. If I were you I would skip CTG, and go to Santa Marta. The ocean is cleaner, and the hotels, and food are less expensive than CTG. Since you already have talent on hand you don't need to hunt in CTG, but if you can slip away there are WG to be had in Santa Marta.
BTW enjoy your girl from Cali. I have found those creatures to be very hot.
Curious. Where are Jason and Faio located. Tired of dealing with this guy Tony!
Right there in Playa Hollywood. Fao will have "FAO" written on the fabric of his carpas. His "office carpa" will be right there within 5-10 meters of Mama Flor's fruit stand. Just deal with him for your carpa, chair, etc.
Jayson is a runner sort in Playa Hollywood. The authorities have been making them wear an official uniform shirt of late (wonder how long that lasts). He will be going back-and-forth between the little alley at the main road (closest to Playa Hollywood) and Playa Hollywood.
Fao understands gringo-butchered Spanish, but does not speak English. Jayson speaks English. When not doing a massage or pedicure / manicure, Emily is pretty much now sitting with Fao or at Mama Flor's.
Tony is typically now down to the right a little from Mama's Flor's fruit stand. He'll be griping and complaining about why you not likey Tony anymore. He's predominantly going through more of the "stick" phase in the 'ole carrot-and-stick game of his hustle life there at Playa Hollywood. After one explains to him why they & other gringos are not using him near as much anymore, he'll grunt that he's been there for 20-something years and that his business will be okay. Remains to be seen if the loss of business and status changes his arithmetic skills and business tactics.
If you want any of their cell numbers, shoot a pm. Don't worry, I won't give you Tony's by mistake, LOL.
Thinking about going to Cartagena but I keep hearing its expensive a city. Some my question is what make it an expensive places. Oh yeah quick sidenote my calena would be with me and we would be there a week.
In my "opinion", here are a few reasons off the top my head:
1. What makes it "expensive" by Colombian standards is it is the vacation / tourist destination in the country. It is a place where the Colombianos with discretionary spending money go for domestic vacations, getaways, wedding ceremonies, business group meetings / seminars, government officials / dignitaries, etc. It is also a tourist destination for foreigners, including cruise ships, international business seminars, romantic getaways, government officials / dignitaries, etc. Just like most any city where tourism is the top or one of the top economic drivers, real estate and prices for goods & services will be higher in the tourist zones and for tourist attractions. Tourists and business travelers tend to spend their money more freely. Hey, it's vacation! Goods, attractions, services, accommodations, etc, are priced accordingly in the tourist zones. They are geared toward a more affluent customer than non-tourist zones. Locals involved with and local infrastructure that supports the tourism feed off this economic activity. That tourist money (needs to) touches many hands from the consumer to the producer (and remember all of the officials and infrastructure that must be supported).
2. From a more every day transactional standpoint, there is the Costeno concept of asking price, real price and the art of negotiation / haggling that not all people are accustomed to and / or enjoy. Inflated prices can be paid by visitors / tourists because of their lack of knowledge of the fair market price for an item, their reluctance or unfamiliarity with aggressive negotiating / haggling, or their general attitude of "screw it, I know I'm probably overpaying, but let's have some fun anyway-it's my vacation!" The is no shame in the local culture to excessively inflate or mark-up a price if the buyer (especially tourist) pays it. It is not dishonorable to extract extra or overcharge; actually can be viewed as a good business practice since it may be the difference in the vendor having some meat with the rice tonight, along with some aguillas!
3. Visitors / consumers / tourists can (choose to) make it more expensive by their own choices for convenience, comfort, luxury, expediency, personalization / VIP treatment and uniqueness.

here's the thing about times, venues, etc. : different strokes for different folks.
some guys like to get to ldv and / or electra before most anyone else and "scope" the talent as it first shows-up. others say screw that, i'm not showing-up until things are hoppin' and there's a crowd of people. some want to grab a chica early before she's "taken"; others prefer to wait closer to closing time with the idea that prices will drop much like scalped tickets do outside the arena as the event gets started.
probably not unlike most, i can be all over the board depending on my mood, how much sleep or lack of sleep i've had, how much liquor i've consumed, how long since my last nut, etc. that means one night i may want to show up early and then other times show-up right before closing, but generally some where in-between, lol.
the last several times i've been to ldv, i didn't show up until 1:30 or after. i'd only go at 11:30 if i was trying to stay on "wake-up before 9 a. m." schedule the next day, or if i had this crazy idea that i was going to bang one chica, go back for another, and then grab a 3rd at electra. needless to say, i don't come up with crazy ideas all that often these days, lol.
as has been stated before, show-up at electra at 3 and it will be you and the staff there. nada mas. then all of a sudden at 3:30 the crowd starts arriving and continues to do so steadily for the next 45 minutes. the last time i was there i showed-up around 5:15 or so and it was somewhat slim pickins'; only saw 3 or 4 that would make me rise to attention from looks alone. if i had shown-up an hour to an hour and a half earlier like i did several nights before that, then i'm confronted with 15+ that strike my fancy and i have a tougher time deciding, lol.
as to the guy charging at the door. i was there last month and did notice some people who went in before me got charged. i can't say that i've ever noticed that before and i've never been asked for an entrance fee. he did at first seem to give off body language that he was going to hit me up, but then he either recognized me (not because i'm anybody important, but because i've been there more times than i care to say) or my body language / mannerisms gave off the vibe that i'm not paying and he didn't say anything, just held the door open and nodded. not sure, but since i really haven't noticed it happening before, could be more of a recent push to put a little extra in the pocket.
it's similar to when you read some guy saying that there's this policy that a guy has to buy a girl a drink at ldv. huh? no one's ever mentioned that or brought that up when i've been there or to anyone i've talked to there. it wasn't a policy, it was just another one of those times in cartagena where someone saw an opportunity to make a little extra coin or get a drink purchased for them. or maybe there are guys who go and sit there without ordering anything and then they are told that. could be, but i dunno, 'cause i always order something. even if it's only bottled water or a beer. the place serves drinks; that's how they pay the light bill, um i came to their establishment and plopped myself down; i'll have a drink tyvm.
speaking of drinks, i think i'll go make one.
