Four night romp in Veracruz!
I've never been, had some days off, and the airfare was favorable.
Flight:
I flew Aeromexico for the first time out of Tijuana. The airfare was around $340 round trip. I used the CBX from Otay to the Tijuana airport and back for the third time; highly recommend CBX.
Taxi to hotel and back to the airport: 250 pesos.
Getting around town: Taxis were cheap and reliable. Make sure the cab has a working AC beforehand! Spanish also helps. I would go from one club to another while my taxi driver either waited for me, or returned at a certain time.
Hotel:
I stayed at the Fiesta Inn Malecon. I grabbed an ocean front king for a decent off season price. I tend to sleep in late, because I'm a night person. The first morning, around 7:50, I heard loud drums and horns, which seemed to be right under my window! I jumped up, looked out the window, and saw the pinche Mexican navy preparing to raise the flag at 8 AM. Fuck, it was loud and the drumming continued for at least 20-25 minutes.
I also noticed the AC was not working as well as it should. The next evening when I returned to my room; the AC just died. The staff upgraded me to a junior suite; which was SWEET! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if the place was "Girl Friendly" or not; never brought one back to the room.
Communication:
I have the North American T-Mobile plan, so calls, texts, and the using internet were included.
Restaurants:
I did a lot of research before I left and here are my thoughts on the restaurants:
Gran Caf Parroquia. Famous for coffee, but the fajitas sucked!
Villa Rica. Excellent.
LOS Canarios. Excellent.
Guero, Guero. Kind of a popular ice cream type place. Too sweet for my taste.
Taco stand next to Lo Lupe. Very good late drunken tacos.
LOS Farolitos. Very good.
El Maestro Asador. Excellent.
La Parrilla (late) - Excellent.
Las Anitas. Very good.
LOS Giros. Excellent.
Strip / table dance clubs:
In each club, I asked several questions and did my best to write the answers on my trusty note pad. As each night went on, the more I drank. Thus, if I am wrong with any of my notes, feel free to correct me.
I always drink screwdrivers when I travel in Mexico, and always with the house vodka; Smirnoff. But this trip, I decided on Absolute.
The fichas were various prices, I am quoting the lowest ficha price.
Club: Barlovento.
Cover charge: None.
My drink: 90.

Night / Time: Midnight Friday, and again on Saturday night at 11.
Comments: My favorite club in Veracruz!
I was there on Friday night and was told about the pricing and my mesero showed me the VIP and regular rooms. I found it difficult to believe the pricing.
I returned there Saturday night to call their bluff on the pricing. I had a different mesero and he put me at a table with no ventilation whatsoever. I told him I was moving to a different table; he wasn't happy. I told him NOT to bring a girl over because I was window shopping.
After I moved, sure as hell, he brought me over a chica. I sent her away and told him, "No juegues conmigo!" he got the message. A really nasty (in a good way) chica came and sat next to me and started playing; I liked her! The mesero told me it would be 1250 for the room and the chica, plus five drinks for the chica would be included.
So it was true, I paid 1250 pesos for the chica, the room, and her five drinks. I was a happy camper to say the least. The BJ was condom free, but not the sex. And we were in the room for over an hour. BTW, she only allowed me to take a picture of her boot and drinks.
Club: Fantasy.
Cover charge: 100.
My drink: 66.
Ficha cost: 220.
Sex with one of the girls: Pissed, didn't ask.
Sex on site: Pissed, didn't ask.
Number of Chicas: 10.
Quality of Chicas: Average to say the least.
Night / Time: 1:30 Friday.
Comments: I decided to take one for the team with this club. Besides paying the cover, there is a four beer / three mixed drink minimum purchase required! And, the place was nothing special, including the chicas. Bottom line: FUCK THIS CLUB!
Club: Extravagance (Boca del Rio).
Cover charge: 100.
My drink: 75.
Ficha cost: 230.
Sex with one of the girls: Didn't ask.
Sex on site: Didn't ask.
Number of Chicas: I counted 7.
Quality of Chicas: Very good to hot.
Night / Time: 12:30 Saturday night.
Comments: So, I'm sitting there drinking and watching an empty stage. This mesero comes over and said that one of the chicas wanted to do a lap dance for me. He pointed her out and she was hot. I asked, "Cuánto y por cuánto tiempo" he replied, "200 US dollars for 4 minutes. " At this point. I about pissed my pants because I was laughing so hard! Thus, steer clear of this club as well.
Other regular dance clubs: I stumbled across a few other clubs; mostly for dancing.
Forum. Salsa - cover 35.
Cibao. Salsa - cover 70.
Lo Lupe. Techno - no cover (Next to Mamacitas!)
Street girls:
First the hotel girls. I took this information from a web site. The information is correct so I will quote the directions:
"Directions: From the Malecon, go to the Parque Zamora and continue south on the Avenida Salvador Diaz Miron. In two blocks, turn right on Calle Jose Mariano Abasolo. Two of the hotels are located on this street. The first is Hotel San Vicente. The ladies are usually standing outside if they're not occupied. Continue west about 150 feet and you'll see the next one Hotel Abasolo. There are about four barstools outside where the ladies hang out. Continue around the right corner (on Gonzalez Pages) and there is a third hotel Hotel Palma. I've seen some women there, too. ".
On Friday, I saw 4 outside of Hotel San Vicente, 5 inside Hotel Abasolo, and 6 in and around Hotel Palma. Hotel Abasolo also has a dive bar not to be missed. As I was leaving the bar, a saw a good looking girl and we chatted for a bit. She wanted 200 for 15/20 minutes (forgot which). I told her I wanted an hour and she quoted me 1000 for an hour, plus 200 for the room; I agreed and off we went skipping like we just got married. She was a lot of fun in the room and did not mind pictures, but no face included; I respect that. All was covered.
Back in the same area on Saturday early evening and there were more girls on station. This time, I pulled from Hotel Palma for about the same price and time. She was a sweetie, but no pictures allowed. Again, all was covered.
Other street girls:
I walked the Malecon during the late afternoons and evenings; there were no street girls to be found. I did see some in and around Zocolo, but I did not chat with any of them.
Casa chicas:
FUCK, I printed out maps and it was just a waste of ink. None of the leads led to anything. I got out of the cab several times looking for those damn casas, but to no avail. I asked all my cabbies if they knew of any casas; no such luck!
Craigslist:
I tried to contact a few, but never got a response.
Tinder:
No luck whatsoever.
Overall thoughts on Veracruz:
I enjoyed what this city had to offer. The city was very tranquil and the people were very friendly. I did not see any other gringos in the city; I liked that. I also like the fact that I HAD to speak Spanish to communicate.
The weather was hot and it was humid. Hell, I've never seen so many Mexican men wearing shorts! The beaches did not seem special whatsoever. Maybe that's what keeps tourists away. Either way, I had a good time exploring and documenting stuff for our community; so no regrets!
Would I ever return to Veracruz? Nah!
As always, just my two pesos of course!
