The chicas get $3 commission on each ficha. They're also supposed to do 10 fichas, per shift, before they can go arriba. Keeps 'em hustling drinks instead of just turning tricks, I suppose.
There is some sort of carryover scheme, too, where they can use "extra" fichas on a good day to "make up" for slower days, but I really don't understand it.
PP
I'm sure that's not true. In AB, its supposed to be that they are required to gain so many fichas in one work day to basically pay off their bar working fee. It doesn't matter if they get guys to buy them drinks or not, they can go upstairs as many time as they like before completing their ficha quota. But at the end of the work shift, they need to have garnered the required amount of fichas. The one girl I asked about this said the ficha quota sometimes gets overlooked if work is slow.
So it would be pretty stupid if HK requires that they fill their quota before going arriba. That would just be a loss for the girl. What if she never fills her quota? She can't get a client to the room and make no money? Who'd agree to work that way?
She probably told you that to get her to buy her more drinks.
I've only taken 1 chica up from HK and that was last weekend. The guy at the door said he needed a dollar and I could not tell what for other than renting the thin robe the chicas cover up with. WTF?
That does sound like a scam. What door guy? The HK door guy? Or the hotel door guy? I wouldn't have paid it.

She told me that on slow days you might have to "tip" the doorman to look the other way. She also said that it wasn't too difficult to get 10 fichas, unless biz was really slow. But, who knows? I know the bar wants to sell drinks, the girls are secondary.
It's the HK door guy who wants the buck. The girl wears the robe while prancing down the street to the hotel. Of course, if you walk out the front, it's like 5 feet. Not sure what would happen if you refuse.

New Laws??
Hey Guys,
Help me out. What is the rule for entering and exiting TJ now? Must I have a passport or not. I would be parking and walking across.
Please advise.
Thanks!

No need for a passport if you have a license and birth certificate.

A passport is easiest- From what I understand, a driver's license and birth certificate will suffice. The last time I tried to use only my driver's license, the customs agent who screened me gave me a lot of grief. But from what I understand, there's been a delay of some sort regarding the new passport law, or an attempt to delay the new law. Go to www.travel.state.gov for more info.

The last 3 times (in 3 weeks) I went with only my CA DL.
1st time - "What are you doing in Mexico?"
"checking out a strip joint"
Just hands me my DL back w/o saying a word.
2nd time - same question, asks for birth certificate, gave me info brochure, then waves me through.
3rd time (friday) - "Where were you born" me "VA" then goes on about east coast stuff and gives me my DL back. no mention.

I've only taken one girl from HK to the hotel. Her outfit wasn't all too revealing so she didn't have to wear a robe. I wasn't charged any sort of robe fee.
So how much is the tip to make the doorman look the other way? Although I wouldn't have paid it. If I try to take the girl out and the door guy stops me saying that she hasn't fullfilled her 10 ficha quota and that I should tip him to look the other way, I would have said no and that I would not pay extra to the bar just because of their ridiculous rule. I'd walk away and leave the girl standing there. I would make a point of it.

The robe scam is fairly recent: about a couple of months old. Perhaps your arriba was from before its introduction.
I don't think it has anything to do with "decency" because when it was first introduced they said it was to keep the chicas warm. I saw a guy put his coat around the chica (because she truly was cold) and he still had to rent a robe.

I was a bit unclear. The chica told me that SHE would be the one forking over a propina to the doorman. The purpose, of course, is that it's better to give him a bit and go arriba than to sit around earning nothing. I seem to recall the tip would be in the $20 range. The transaction would probably be conducted in rapid-fire Spanish and the money would probably change hands later on.

The robe "tip"/fee is paid by the male customer and is $1. The $20 "tip"/bribe must be for the lack of ficha.

Either one is a scam. Can't believe HK is allowing such stupidity. The only reason all this is going on is because of all the morons going to HK, fattening the wallet of the owners and making them think they are above all the other bars.
IMO, they're not.

Pretty much agreed. But HK's remodel has improved the place. I think the popularity will taper off after a while. I will say that the more I go to TJ the less tolerant of stupid scams I become. The last few times I haven't said anything about the robe tip. But, I'm waiting for the day when I make the deal, but, for some reason, I'm in a bad mood. I'll be curious what the girl does when I balk at the fee, then pull the plug on the whole deal and leave her standing there as I stalk off to AB, or somewhere. :) Sombody's gonna be pissed. I just about did it a couple of weeks back when I'm sitting with a fave and the #8 mesero, Julio, takes off with my $20 and never comes back. She finally flagged him down, he didn't have the change ready as they usually do, and I was primed to bail at the first lame excuse. (I knew she'd tear him a new one if she lost a customer over this). But he pulled out a wad of cash and made change, so I simmered down.

HK was my favorite place before the remodel. I haven’t been there since they’ve redone it because, till recently, I’ve had a gal here stateside(that has changed). I’m looking forward to the new layout of the place. The reason I like it more than AB is the dance club atmosphere. And I don’t go clubbing or dance, (too old). I like the music, dancing girls, the $1 feel ups, and the lezzy show. Overall the gals are better at AB than HK, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t diamonds to be found if you take the time. That’s where the good atmosphere makes it a better overall experience. AB just has the gals standing around waiting for you to go up and cut a deal, then it’s upstairs for the wham, bam, thank you mam’. Very mechanical.
As far as cover charges and extra fees; I learned quickly that walking away is the simplest way to have the “fees” waived. A waiter losing beer sales and tip and gals losing a trip next door speaks volumes. I am polite but insistent that I won’t pay superfluous charges, and then walk away. A trip around the block, a taco or two and I go back; often they don’t remember and the terms have changed. Bear in mind I go mid-week so I’m sure they are more sensitive to losing business on off-peak days than on the weekends.

There are some nice girls in HK. Like I mentioned before I've only been with one chica from HK. She was not your typical hot girl like in AB. Perhaps a 7 and that was only because she was all fixed up. I'm sure she's the type that looks pretty awful when waking up in the morning.
Although she was really talkative and attentive. We where talking like two friends. After a while of conversating she mentioned wanting to go upstairs. But since we where having such a good time, just talking like friends I told her that it would feel weird cause I now felt respect for like a friend and didn't think of her as a prostitute. But I didn't want her to leave so we went upstairs. And I'm glad I decided to.
Upstairs she refused to remove her top. She would only lower it enough so her breasts would pop out. They where kind of big so they looked really nice. Real too.
I didn't want to finish so I could try out some other girls after her. And after a while I even told her she could stop but she wouldn't. She didn't want me to leave without finishing. She was a real trooper and didn't stop. Plus she even told me to relax and lie back so she could do all the work. And she did! The only time I did any work was when we switched to doggy. More girls should be like this.
I've had girls at AB that even though there was still time left, they'd tell me, "this is the last position I'm doing so you better finish." And I'm just thinking, "Wtf?" Not only is it an ultimatum but it ruins the mood. :(
Some of the bros can probably tell us some good stories about the poor circumstances of the strippers in TJ.
Most are unmarried mothers trying to feed their babies and supporting their extended families. I just found out the pretty Maria at Chicago has a baby to support. Poor girl. She always acts with grace and dignity.
The bros should try to be kind and generous to them. They will be your good friends.
Ya, I was talking to this chick at the tiger and she just got back to stripping shes from the u. S. Sandiego, and was telling me how she has a girl and she was real cool shes white too and moved down to tj she pays like 200 for rent. Pretty cheap first person I bought a drink for, then I gave her the rest of my dos equis haha. She was cool I guess. Felt bad. Then she was like I'll give you a lap dance I declined.
