Zona Norte Seemed OK to Me on Friday, Feb. 1
The guys were just hanging around drinking in Adelita. Not too many guys were taking the chicas upstairs that I could see.
I encountered a different scene when I visited the Adelita Bar between 9:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1. The selection of girls was excellent, and even better they were spread out around the club instead of being jammed together in Hottie Central. I think this is a good trend. When everybody forms a scrum in Hottie Central it's hard to get a good look at the girls, easy to spill your drink, and way too hot and stuffy.
There were also quite a few guys. It wasn't so insanely crowded that you couldn't move. But it was definitely a weekend crowd. I spent quite a bit of time standing near the entrance to the ladies room, enjoying a bit of space and the cool air coming in the front door. From there I could easily observe the girls as they grabbed their coats before leaving for the hotel, and hung them up after they returned. To my eye business was brisk, especially among the fresher looking girls, like the pair of blondes with the ultra-tight bodies who stand close to the front door. Proof positive that young, fit, attractive girls dressed in simple attire will always be demand, while older girls with extra pounds stuffed into outlandish hooker costumes will spend the evening standing around.
I don't patronize the street girls, so I can't comment on the scene in the alley.
Life in TJ is definitely less fun and festive than before...
I respectfully differ. Granted, I don't get to the Zona Norte as often as I would like, but Friday, Feb. 1 the Adelita Bar seemed like it's old self to me, and there were enough hotties on hand that I had no trouble finding somebody I wanted to fuck.

Adelita's, the good old days
I liked the old place. Lots of secluded dark corners where you could squeeze the girls, more circulation routes, "hottie central" and all that. The new design is much cleaner, but when they took out the old, they took out the edge IMHO.
