Gentlemen, I need advice,
Reading posts on this forum I got impression that lower class hotels in Accra are not very safe -- i.e. personal belongings and cash get stolen. I will be in Accra for 2 months and decent 50-60$ rooms are lil bit expensive for me, so probably I will be staying in 30$ hotels. I am planning to bring some equipment (computer, camera etc) with me to Ghana. So, my question is: what are the chances that my stuff could be stolen in these 30$-hotels. Did anyone have such expirience? Does anyone knows any "safe" hotel of this price in Osu?
Would appreciate any info
Dear one,
I had been spending holidays in Ghana around 14 months ago - read me plz - sleeping in 10-15 euro hotels and I didn't report any rob.
This doesn't mean that it is not possible to happen.
I always got in touch with the management and drop them my valutables in change of a receive and they were glad to offer me this service for free.
The only problem was to receive my belongings back because the person who took care of them was often not present, so long time waiting.
Do not show too much clearly to your numerous - I hope - girls where you keep your camera - it is not possible to hide it because you will certainly snap her nudity - and locking the door before sleeping keep away the key taking advantage of her shower or easying.
Do not go out showing watches, pens, devices which might put in temptation someone who for low morality and high poverty might be confused.

Brother Roman Guy is right! In terms of waiting I had exactly the same experience at Byblos hotel. Fortunately it was just 30 minutes until I got my items back. But, so what, since I had still plenty of time!? :)
What I do in order to store my items safely is quite simple: I lock money and documents in my suitcase and keep the keys in my wallet. I think that's not a bad option!
On the main roads public transportation with a reliable company is ok. But beware of some trips. I went from Kumasi to cape coast once on a small bus. There were7 people in every row, where there should be a max of 4. Of course no leg room to speak of. Of course most of the people smelled bad, as they were travelling with a lot of luggage. Of course the windows remained closed the whole trip. Did I tell you that there were several chicken in the bus and maybe 15 goats on top of the luggage on the roof. I still donīt understand why my luggage smelled strange after that trip.
Sorry mate but this is rubbish, I've travelled in trotros all over Ghana and never hace I seen a goat on a roof or had chickens for company inside. Though 7 abreast is the norm that is true. Basically trotro travel can be fun if you are prepared for it and if you are in Ghana you will have the best experiences travelling as the Ghanaians do, the smells, sights and chaos of the trotro stations are an experience in themselves.
Do you now if are there possibilities of work in Ghana for young persons that are graduates in Economy (without experience) ?
A lot of web sites offer illusion about getting a job in the III° world but it is not said to be untrue.
A nice web site to dream about working on a tropical beach is:

Another one - more NGO oriented - is : http://www.gvi.co.uk

There has been some debate here regarding cost of girls etc in Ghana. Just to add my bit, generally you can get whatever it is you want. Now that maybe a pro from Macumba/Jokers etc which will almost be a contractual thing where price is agreed in advance for services rendered overnight or less. Fine if that's your thing but as others have mentioned here, to have a semi gf type relationship is far more rewarding. I personally hate pros, prefer the regular girls even if there is the hassle of them wanting to tag along too much. Though I always claim I am on business (sometimes true) when I am in Ghana so that's a great way to shake them off if you want to.
Last time I was in Accra I hooked up with a girl who has her own shop, car and apartment in Kaneshie and ended up moving in with her for 2 days at the end of my trip when to be honest I was happy to stick with one girl after having shagged my way through 6 or 7 the previous 4 days. This was a great contrast to what I had been doing and we fucked non stop, went shopping, she cooked for me, did a little sightseeing, basically it was a lot of fun. Sure I paid for our expenses but that was all, I mean c'mon guys this is Africa, it's not expensive so I fail to understand why there is so much debate on cost of girls, it's just not a big issue...IMHO

Wow, Bloke, finding such an 'upperclass girl' (with own shop, apartment and car!) is indeed like hitting the jackpot! Congrats, man! And sure, Miss Right owned already all the great stuff others are still longing for (like digital camera, notebook, etc, etc)! Yeah, big fun - no costs (tiny little exception: dinner is -of course- on our account as we are cavaliers!)! Bloke, I am getting somehow jealous now! :)
So, gentlemen, what's the moral of the story? Very simple: always be wise and choose preferably wealthy ladies! Then you have 100% GFE and most likely full service for free! In this case you will be truly THE lucky guy, accompanied by THE 'real moneysaver' - am I right, Roman Guy!? :) :) :)

I donīt know how you can say this is rubbish. The goats on this photos were loaded on the bus I travelled with. And there wer chickens inside.
I travelled by bus and other public transport in many third world countries, including 3 in Africa. I could hardly breeathe in this bus and couldnīt leave itfor 6 hours. Maybe it was luck, other rides in Ghana were more confortable.
So for long distance travel (more than 2 hours) I would check my mode of transportation very carefully

Yea Bloke, these girls do exist, I've had the same experience. Much better than dealing with pro's, who you cannot trust.
When you hook-up with one of these ladies, you will get to meet their friends! Who also have money!! Be sure to take care of these ladies as they can be invaluable. My girls meet me at Kotoko Airport - with a car - a couple of their "sista's" - and a couple of "brother's"..(security detail) - and go directly to their house in Dansuma were there's food and a place to stay, good fucking stuff man! we party every night, then we move on to Kumasi to their other house!!
Be polite - buy a 40 pound bag of rice and a bottle of stove gas for the house and you will be "The King".
Ty.
P.S. Hey Bloke, I think I meet you at Jokers back in Jan. 2007. Does "Mali Gold Mine" ring any bells? PM me.

One time while returning from Nigeria I was standing in line with a man born in Nigeria who resides in Canada. After the lady at the Air France desk told him what he didn't want to hear he looked at her and said, "Everybody in this country is a thief."
Ty Down good pics. I will probably be returnig to West Africa next year. If the Star beer in Ghana is the same as in Nigeria that is some bad shit. I think it has about the same alcohol content as North Carolina moonshine.

Good luck, as most West Africans are very superstitious about this, it's bad magic , (JuJu), and will bring bad luck. They will give head, but swallowing, thats another story.

To get a girl to swallow, you have to train her ! I've trained all my girls to swallow and once they get over the initial disgust, they accept it. I try to tell them that all oburoni girls do it so if they hope to catch an oburoni man, they have to learn the art of swallowing.

A word of caution!
I have just got back from lovely accra after a glorious fun filled 2 weeks.
Whilst there I occassionaly used the local internet wireless facilities and twice used an internet cafe at Danquah circle. When I got back to the UK begining sept I tried logging into etc my hotmail account to check my emails, well guess what? I couldnt - "incorrect email id or password" well I thought I was going mad anyway gave up, tried ISG to upload my pics, I kept on getting incorrect password, time and time again.
Using my Yahoo id I contacted Jackson informed him of my problem and how I thought my id was comprimised, Jackson replied asking me for further details but had also copied his reply to my hotmail account. Almost immediately I had an email from my hotmail account titled "silly boy" going on to say "you dont give us locals enough *%@# credit"
To cut a long story short, Im back online thanks to Jackson and Im working with MSN Support to get my hotmail id back.
Careful folks!!
Photos and reports to come.
