Montera and Herradura will be closed
For 2 different reasons both places will be closed in near future.
Montera is located in building recently sold. New owner want to build something different in that place. New Montera will be probably located near first plaza from the border.
Herradura have long problems with narco-militants "Zetas". One of security guys of Herradura, who is working now for Zetas, have old conflict with his former co-workers. Two of the former coworkers were bitten by Zetas and police was notyfied about narco activities in Herradura.
Right now Herradura works shorter hours and owner mentioned that will close it soon, and wait until everything will calm around.
trip report Saturday night February 17
This is another TR on my once or twice a year visits to NL.
Got to the border at around 9:30. Bought a border crossing card from the vending machine at the new border building. Still amazing it costs more to get into Mexico than to get back to the US. Crossedthe bridge and immediately noticed the difference. There were very few people for a Saturday night as we remember them.
Shared a cab to BT. The cab was stopped at the entrance and we were asked if we were carrying any arms - including pocket knoves. Then pulled into Papaguaya's. Not that I wanted to go there, but the cabbie was thrilled that I said, sure, pull in. The inside has been cleaned up a bit, newer bar, significantly better lighting and even a flat screen TV - showing a Lacross game for goodness sakes. As to the crowd. I made this comment recently on the TJ Adelitas Bar, but he gringo crowd is definetely older than it used to be. Wonder if that is a comment on the economy. As to the chicas. Feh. Probably more of them then customers. No stunners, but one or two very definate 8 or 9s. Drinks are a reasonable $2, and they delivered a Corona, not a Coronita. This is a nice upgrade, they must be really hurting.
Took a walk around the compound, and again was surprised at how thin the place has become. On row 2, more than half the doors were closed as were half the bars. Along the back row,the old TV bars were closed as well. I mention this only because some of the door girls on the back row are now named Bruce. This includes the SW girls directly opposite the Danash.
Returned to Papas cuz it was time. Picked a cute standard short plaid skirt, what looked like real C cups, long dark hair chica. I love how guys describe these girls as if you could ever find them from the description. Unless of course she is the "Madonna looking one" or the one with the three tits.
Sixty plus twelve, ten tip afteward. All the standard positions, was greatful she was not one of those TV watchers, and seemed to either get hot or appeared to get hot from my attention to her sweet little button. (reminds me of the joke in this months Maxim: Know why women fake orgasms? Cuz they think we give a shit.) Room was cleaner than I remember them.
Took a cab back around 12:30, no line at the border. Biggest note: I did not see a policeman nor a soldier the entire night. Sunday morning I saw one flatbed with three black dressed police. For those who know the difference, the are now carrying M4s, clips in. This a change from what they were carrying, and I wonder if this is a reflection of the new sheriff in town.
RE: Herradura and Montera
[QUOTE=Vince Nld]OK, just so this is clear to me, you have talked to the owners of both clubs on this, correct? That really sucks about the Montera as I always really liked the setup of the club and their drink prices seem to be cheaper than other bars in the area. Guess that also means we loose the 2 adjacent hotels, which were my favorite short term in the area, especially the one to the west that actually seems to be cool in the summer time!
Yes, I talked to Herradura boss and Mr. Lalo (owner of that little shitty hotel Asturias near Herradura). Montera will move, but it could take months. Herradura so far is only closing early (around 1AM). You're right. Prices in Herradura sucks. I don't watch, how much I pay for drinks. But I can see that in Herradura my money dissapear really fast. I don't know if owner was really serious about closing.
You can spot Zetas in Herradura very easy. After 8PM, you'll see group of rather primitive campesinos on the right side of the music band (if you face bar). Sometime they have table in that area, but most often they just stay there and watch. No smile, no talk.
On the girl side, there is a lot of new faces. Some of them real beauties. My advice is to take time and watch for a while. Last time I was in a hurry and in a first look there was nothing interesting. When I finally made a choice, I had to pass other opportunities.
Newest gossips about Herradura
Herradura is rather far from closing. Owner was upset, because Zetas are returning to bar around 3AM, order drinks and don't pay. They have guns, so there's nothing to do about it. Police will not react, because Zetas pay for licence to operate in the area. In addition there was signal from "federales" that they will clean area, after local security was beaten. That means it could be hot around. The same owner have gay's bar Vitos and there Zetas play the same way. To avoid drunk Zetas, both bars were closing early last week. (Around 1AM)
