I am flying from the Philippines to Chiang Mai and intend on staying in Thailand. Do I need to have a ticket out of Thailand to fly and / or land with me? I did coming to the Philippines. Any place you could point me to a reference would help too. Thanks.

You don't supply nearly enough information to help. I take it you are from the US so are eligible for a 30 day Visa Waver. They may demand an onward ticket at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.
