I heard that Doug got married to a girl in Rio to obtain his Perm. Visa and now she owns everything. His restaurant in Texas, his new apartment in Copacabana, everything..
Guys if you marry to get your Perm Visa, check off the box on the application that states everything you own before and after the marriage is yours, not hers... she can do the same..

Not quite, she is only entitled to his possesions in Rio, not the USA.

Whatever property you have coming into the marriage is yours and whatever you accumulated during the marriage is devided between you two automatically, unless you sign a prenuptial. If that is the case as mentioned above. God, imagine what will all these football players in Brazil would do. Majority of them have 3-4 wives in their lifetime.
Doug, by the way, was only around 40-45 (a tiny bit older than I), although I have rarely seen him out of terma robe attire. He was friendly to visiting mongers, the girls and, importantly, to staff and other local workers. He participated in a little ex-pat business showing visitors around.
I have no idea the nature of the illness that caused his demise. I know he wished he could fit into robes several sizes smaller and he claimed to have been a heavy drinker from time to time (though that was not my observation). One night I saw him, he literally carried a drunken "doctor" expat from the shower room to the locker room. I bring this information to the front only for selfish reasons. I have gained 32 pounds since becoming a full-time hobbiest in September of '05. F'ing shocking and embarassing. That's over. Despite this indulgence, I'm lucky to be in good health (according to my doctor, yesterday, anyway). My goal is to be the last monger living from this board, though I'll miss the company.
Doug may have gone out with some style, but it's still profoundly tragic. May he rest in peace and his ex-wife go bankrupt.

I don't think anyone rarely saw Doug out of a Terma robe, this is meant as a compliment in the highest of esteem. ;-)
I believe Doug did drink to excess more than he should of. He was one of the first to admit this, hence I truly hope no one takes offence at me saying this. One needs to learn from this, you just can't do that stuff anymore when you are past 40, carrying more pounds than you should or have in Dougs case diabetes. One needs to learn from this if one wants to live a long enjoyable life.
Honestly don't known if I met him, but I read quite a bit about him on CH. I had no idea we were around the same age. May he rest in peace. He had a great time in Rio.

My best friend's brother married a Colombian a little over a year ago. They had a kid and shortly after that she left him, gone. It lasted 1 year. She got her green card and got the hell away.

I did not know Sweet Mesquite; however, any who lives in a Terma robe is my type of guy. I wish I could have known him because I am sure we would have gotten along very well.

A couple of years ago, I met a courteous, friendly, American in the locker room at L'uomo. He seemed to be very much at home there and very much liked. I am normally a quiet person, but he engaged me in a few minutes of conversation. As I recall he had a special robe, one that was embroidered with his name (but I don't recall the name). Might this have been Doug?
Can someone on here explain what he looked like. I think I may have ran into this individual on my first terma visit.
The guy your saw was Donald, he has a monogrammed robe.
Doug, had brown straight hair, a moustache, a generous beer belly on an otherwise quite slim frame, not an easy guy to describe as he was kind of normal. Average height. A decent guy, virtually lived at 4x4.
Alright first of all, I'm heading down to Brazil for two weeks TOMORROW, so if you guys want some live on the ground reports from Rio you better come up with an answer to this question (only kidding, I'll contribute either way since I've learned so much here in the past).
I've done 4 trips to Rio, done the termas, the agencies etc. What I'm wondering is, does anyone know of some super exclusive, perhaps word of mouth agency that taps into the super high end girls that wouldn't be caught dead at a termas or conventional agency? You know, the models, TV actresses etc. who might do this only once in a while?

One other question. Has anyone tried the Latineuro.com agency to meet supposedly non-pros (although there are certainly some pros fishing for suckers). Any stories or experiences with this would be great.

Following the advice of the esteemed Bubba Boy in a recent post, I want to do a check on a garota who promises me up and down that she is now respectacle. Any advice? Anyone know a PI in Rio? PMs are also appreciated.
