$7-10 cab fare? It's only about 8 blocks! You can hop on one of the many buses on Aldama and get off a couple blocks from the entrance.
To find all of the downtown clubs, you just keep heading straight when you cross on the bridge, instead of turning right. Go straight for about 4-5 blocks and you reach the "plaza principal". To your left is a long pedestrian street (no vehicles) lined with shops. Walk down about 4 blocks, and the hint will be that you will see a few hotels offering nightly and hourly rooms. There are several clubs around within a 2 block radius. These places tend to open in the afternoon. DONT PAY TOO MUCH!!! DONT BRING DOLLARS! The typical price is 300 pesos/hr. Beer is around 10 pesos (a buck).
Enjoy

Pacifico,
I have never gone across to try the girls. Are there certain praises the would be helpfull to know. I want to try some of the downtown clubs you mentioned in your earlier post. Do the girls do FS? Should I bring my own condom? Do the girls usually take thier time? Is there a club that you would recommend over the others. In addition, would you happen to know how early Boystown is open for buisiness?
Thanks for the help,
Lostboy

Lostboy,
You asked about certain phrases that you should know?
Based on your question, I would have to warn you not to go to any of the downtown clubs unless you are with someone who speaks the language. They would eat you alive over there. I did not seen a single gringo in all the times I've been in those clubs. Out of curiosity I was talking to one of the girls and asked her if they ever see any gringos in that particular club. She told me that every once in a while they do, but the waiters and many of the girls rip them off by charging higher prices, not returning with their change, telling them that the room is only 30 minutes instead of an hour, etc... The clubs downtown seem to open around 4pm.
In a sense, the Zona Roja "Boystown" is open 24 hours a day. You won't find hardly any girls inside the clubs before 9pm. The girls who work outside mostly start at 7pm, with some as early as 3pm. About half of the girls live in their on-site room.
If you are very bold and want to find something during the day, here is a possibility. Look for doors that do not have a padlock on them. This means that the girl is inside (she is probably sleeping!). Knock on her door to see what she looks like, and if you like her and she happens to not be too pissed off, you can work some kind of a deal.
I would love to see the expression on the poor girl's face!!
I've done this before, but only with ones that I already know!
P.S. I stay completely away during the summer. I know that some people are turned on by the idea of a sweaty girl. But how about if all of that sweat is not her own?

Pacifico,
Thank you for the information. I appreciate the warning and I will heed it. Prehaps sometime this summer I can tag along with you when you go to one of these clubs. I speak spanish and my Mom's people are from Reynosa.
Thanks again,

Hey, "Pacifico", thanx for the info, it's appreciated.
I haven't been to Reynosa in a while, but I'll be there probably within the next 2 months, so the info you provided is great.
Just some more questions:
Where can I find the club 29 or something like that, which you mentioned is also by "la calle peatonal", and it's open during the day?
How much do the hotels charge per hour or per day?
Can you give me some names of the bars or strip bars where I can find girls near the zona? And finally are the girls in their 20's, 25's, 30's or more, and how do you classify them: 5's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's or....
It will be appreciated to get some answers from experienced and wise people like you.
Thanx

Lostboy,
You say that you do speak spanish and you have family in reynosa? In that case you should have no problem. Seeing your question asking about helpful phrases, I assumed that you don't speak any spanish, or very little.
I'm in TJ right now, but I may make another visit to Reynosa in May before I write that place off for the summer.
P.S. the best club downtown is club 65. The key is to not let on to anyone that you've never been here before. Know beforhand that the room is 100 pesos per hour and don't accept anyone telling you otherwise. Don't ask the girls how much they are asking, just offer then 300 pesos for the hour. I would assume that none of the waiters nor the girls speak english.

Pierroth,
The "club 29 or something" is club 65. They changed the name, so the sign outside says something else. All the locals know it as club 65 in case you ask someone for directions. Club 65 has their own hourly rooms in the back. The other bars do not have rooms, since the girls inside are "freelancers" and don't work for the bar. There is a hotel where most of these girls go to.
Las habitaciones salen muy baratos.. por ejemplo, un cuarto con aire condicionado y tele sale por 100 pesos 3 horas, y 250 pesos por dia mas gastos por
In club 65, most of the girls are between 18-25 age range. The other places have the entire range, maybe 18-40.
At 65, I would say the girls range from 5-8. The other places you never really know what you'll find until you look.
I like Reynosa, but in the summer I would much rather be in 75 degree Tijuana than sweating in the humid 95 degree Reynosa inferno.

In Reynosa, is it easy to buy Viagra or Cialis? Prices?
(of course I am just asking for a friend)
Thanks!

Pacifico,
You seem to be quite an expert on the ways of Reynosa's mongering culture(smiles). I grew up in The Valley yet I never went to BT ( Deprived youth , I guess) .I've been to massage parlors since I left The Valley, they're great! The thing is , I go home once or twice a year and find myelf wanting "something" while I'm over there. My question ,I guess, is since I don't drink, would I be better off trying to locate and visit a massage parlor there in Reynosa then going to BT? Your input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You're right about those summers, it's hell down there!

I'm not really in to the massage parlor thing, except to get a good legitimate massage. The few massage parlors in Reynosa that I've seen were all legitimate.
Of course there are tons of masajistas for outcall in the local paper, just look in the classifieds.
All you have to do is ask a taxi driver, bartender, or even a police officer, and you'll find tons of information that you would never find here.
I must say that at night the police are very agressive in Reynosa. I've been stopped and questioned and searched a few times. This has never happened to me in Tijuana in the many 100's of times I've been there. Of course they will never get a penny from me. One time the officer tried to get a bribe by asking for a donation so that he could go eat with his family in a restaurant. I explained to him how ironic it would be if that were to be his last meal as an employed police officer. I also asked him for his name, which made him very nervous. He didn't answer and mumbled some excuse about being in a hurry to get somewhere, so he quickly left.
Any time you get taken for a bribe, go immediately to the station and identify the guy. All you need is his name or police car number. They will bring him in right infront of you, along with his supervisor. Likely he will be fired on the spot, and you'll have the satisfaction of seeing it. But of course nobody should ever pay a bribe unless you really have broken a serious law.

Excellent advice Pacifico and a point I've been trying to get across for years. But getting these guys to listen and act is another story altogether

Hi Guys,
If you really are guilty of a traffic infraction, there is certain etiquette to handling the bribe.
First of all, ask the cop what the fine will be for your particular infraction. The traffic fines are usually not large and are based on a certain multiple of the minimum daily wage in Mexico (which is currently about 40 pesos: less than 4 dollars per day). Knowing the fine amount will give you a idea of how much of a bribe to offer.
Secondly, there are subtile discussions as to whether a bribe is possible (i.e., can the fine, or multa, be paid on the spot...or some cautious way to get your desire across). Sometimes, the cop will be very careful to accept your offer, because he could lose his job and face jail time himself. Also, not all cops will take bribes. The well-trained federal highway patrol guys (Caminos Fererales) consider themselves a few cuts above the ordinary city traffic cops (Transitos), and can get very upset if you offer a bribe. Also, if the city cop happens to pull you over in a crowded area, where everyone can easily see what is going on, he may have no choice but to issue a ticket. So, if you get pulled over near a crowd, it is probably better to slowly ease past the crowd, or around a corner, before stopping. If the cop starts to hide his badge number while you are discussing the possibility of the bribe, it could be a good indication for you.
Secondly, after you both establish that a bribe will be paid, don't just shove the money into the cop's face. Maintain your discreteness and pass over the money "undercover" from the prying eyes of any passing motorists or pedestrians. Sometimes, the cop will hand you his clip board, like you are being issued a ticket, and you can slide the money under the page.
Finally, if you are guilty or the infraction and you must pay the fine, it isn't the end of the world. You will just have to go to some prescribed municipal location and pay the fine to get your license back. It's surely inconvient, but at least your insurance company in the States will never know of the infraction.

You guys would never believe what happend to me over the memorial day weekend!
I was walking around in the Zona Roja, and I witnessed an agressive group of 3 cops constantly singling people out and shaking them down. I figured "what the heck" that they would not mess with me, and pretty much ignored it.
A few hours later, I was walking around and they swooped up behind me. They push me into the wall, asking if I use drugs. They emptied my pockets and kept saying thigs like.. "look here, is this marijuana?" I ignored the comments and finally they gave me my wallet back. I immediately looked inside and noticed that a 200 peso note was missing.
I then IMMEDIATELY walked up to the police station about 200 feet away at the entrance to the compound. There was a total of 4 police on duty, 1 in the office and the other 3 walking around.
The 3 walking around were young guys, and the 4th was a much older guy. I went to him and complained that the other three guys robbed me. He asked me "who were they?" I replied "what kind of question is that? What other guys are there here?". I could tell that he was trying to brush me off.
I replied "Ok, if you want it to be that way, make that FOUR thieves. If I don't get my money back right away, I'm going directly to the main police station." I told him that I will depand justice if I don't get my money back.
I was waiting around and hanging out with some of the staff at Pussy Cat, which is across from the police station. The three thieves walked back into the station and I could see them talking with the older officer. They kept looking over at me.
The three guys came over and motioned for me to follow them to a very quiet corner with nobody around.
I followed them. They chatted with me, trying to talk as if we were long-time friends. One of the guys discretely slipped my money back into my pocket.
They practically BEGGED me not to go to the station. I told them that I know exactly what will happen to them if I go report them. Hearing that really scared them. One of the officers told me "How much more do we need to give you to make this go away". I told him no, that I don't need or want his money. I made them sware that I would NEVER be bothered ever again. I also told them that I will be keeping an eye on them, and I don't want to see them robbing anyone. They agreed and were very grateful. One of the guys was even whining about having a family, and sounding like he was at the point of getting on his knees and begging. At this point I was very much enjoying this experience. Here are the 3 former "tough guy" police cowering in shame infront of me.
Purposely I hung around more than normal and kept an eye out. I purposely did not avoid any of them and would even look them in the eye whenever I passed them. I tell you I did not personally witness them shaking down a single person for the rest of the weekend. Of course I'm sure they will go right back to "work" when they realize that I'm gone.
P.S. everything happened in spanish, but I still would encourage people to take the same actions even if you only speak english. The major part is being very firm and not showing any fear.
What a weekend.
This is one of life's experiences that I will always look back on and smile.

I talked with several of the waiters and taxi drivers in the area. They told me that they have always seen the cops robbing people at will and have never seen a single person confront them, including the local mexicans.
Don't let their drug threats scare you. They used that tactic on me, talking amongst each other while searching me saying "I think I found something, it looks like cocaine", or "whats this packet". One of the guys pulled out a wadded piece of tissue paper and showed it to me. I told him "I know it's yours".
The fact is that it is highly unlikely that these guys will even have real drugs to plant on you, and that is only if they were even willing to take it beyond a bluff.
Rumor has it that since I told the story to so many of the locals about what had happened that the supervisors found out anyways. I hear that possibly one of the officers ratted out the others and at least one of them got fired.
Here are some tips on things that can either help bust the cop, or prevent the shakedown from happening:
Once the officer has pulled you over or taken you aside, make an obvious effort to focus your eyes on his ID card. Let him see you doing this. This ID should either be clipped on his shirt or worn around his neck. Look for his name and say it out loud, and say in many times in your head so you will not forget the name. If you do not see his ID card (sometimes they hide it before a shakedown) demand to see it.
They are REQUIRED to have it visible.
Put a personal mark (like your initials) on every large bill that you bring to mexico. That way after you turn him in, tell them that you had marked all your bills. They can search him and it will be the last nail in his proverbial coffin. That is not to say that you own word holds a lot of weight. What is the chance that a tourist is going to make up a story about being robbed and take the trouble of going to the police station? Also what is the chance that the police officer will lie to save his own ass? The police supervisors are aware of this as much as you are.
You should not carry your ATM card, but if you see the situation worstening and still have your wallet, take out your card and bend it in half.
Next time you are walking around in your favorite mexican city, stop in any random lawyers office, and get a few of his/her business cards. Put one of these cards DIRECTLY underneath your drivers license. The officer will be sure to see it when he takes out your drivers license. Even better yet, get the business card of a judge or high ranking police official. Mention his name during the conversation.
From that point on, you'll be ready to send any crooked cop that comes your way into unemployment. If more people did this, we wouldn't have such a bad problem to deal with.
