Tijuana Safety In Perspective
I found an article that I thought really did a good job of putting it all into perspective. Read the right hand column of:
http://www.bajainsider.com/baja-california-travel/mexico-travel-warning.htm.
As you can see, Tijuana has a lower crime rate than the city of Philadelphia, New Orleans, Baltimore, Detroit and Washington DC. I live in Phoenix, Az and Phoenix had a murder rate of 8. 02 per 100, 000 in 2010. (http://www.policymap.com/city-crime-rates/phoenix-crime-statistics/index.html ). Tijuana's crime rate was 7. 2 per 100, 000 so Tijuana has a lesser murder rate than where I live. If you read that article you will see the interesting thing is that the city that they profiled, Philadelphia, actually has a police force 3 times as large as Tijuana and they still have a higher crime rate. If you were going to come to Phoenix to visit me there are areas of this town that I would advise you to stay away from or to be very careful in. I would venture to say that most large cities in the USA have some region of the city that the locals would tell you to keep away from and to be very careful in. Tijuana is the same way. It is like any other large city anywhere. Just use common sense and you will be fine.
Don't buy into the hype and absurd paranoia you read about. Tijuana is not the dark, abandoned, scary-as-hell place it was in 2009. If you go on a weekend, you'll see the joint hopping from Coahuila all the way up to Ticuan. Most will be Mexican locals, and things don't stop until around 4:00am, maybe later. Or is that earlier?
While you won't see lots of brothers in the zona, you will see several. You won't stick out like a peacock in a henhouse. If you go to the zona, take a taxi in, and take a taxi out. It's OK to walk at night, but I remember you have some health issues that preclude that, so you'll be fine in a taxi. Don't wander off the beaten path while in the zona, and don't get sloppy drunk. Keep your wits about you and you'll be fine. There is a huge police presence in the zona (and all up and down Revu) and they tend to keep a reasonably tight lid on things. There is no need to leave the bars early.
If you're there on a weekend, be sure to stroll around 6th street and Revolucion. It's become a serious party destination for the locals, and it can be a lot of fun. If you want to chill a bit, and soak in some old-school Tijuana, go to Dandy Del Sur, sit and have a beer and people-watch. Try some of the carne seca.
Basically, just relax. Have a good time. As with any foreign country, don't wander around drunk, don't do stupid shit and don't be an asshole. You'll be fine.
First of all F Zitomers Pharamacy on West 57th Street NYC. They messed up my monthly prescription so I had to shorten my trip by a week. They don't carry my script here in Tijuana.
Anyway my time is nearing an end. It comes at a time when things are just starting to pick up for me. Maybe it is for the better. Who knows.
A few days ago I met a SG who just got here a few days earlier. I smelled it a mile away. Anyway to make a long story short I took her to a zona hotel for a good 45 min for $53 with room included and she rocked my world. No CIM or Anal but everything else was on the menu. I've never had such passionate sex in Tijuana before. This definitely was sexo estilo sud americano but in Tijuana. Yes my friends it is possible. You just need to be here often to capitalize on it.
Today I had her show up at my hotel for my first PLM date EVER! I paid her $100 for 3 hrs. Took her to lunch and gave her cab fare back to her post on the street. I never do this. I just went with it. Now I totally understand the drama that can follow. Tonight I need to sneak into HK without her seeing me. This is very new to me but like I said I am leaving and can't get into too much drama in such short time. Maybe I am wrong.
Her name is Yasmine and stands close to Hotel Mini. Have fun but a huge YMMV. I just connected with her.
More importantly I would like to give a few shout outs to the bros. My time meeting good bros is just as important. Luckily I had a lot of encounters with some great guys :
Bayboy. You found your new Reno, NV! It was a pleasure to finally hang out again.
Ezinho. The mighty Ezinho whom I've emailed for 6 years but never met until now. You are an ISG OG (Original Gangster). We go back to the Quito Ecuador days. Nothing says "amigo" like memories of $7 bodily fluid swaps in a room the size of a closet. We will meet again. Very sharp young guy. Nice to meet you.
HugoTheMan. New friend New beginnings. Sorry I wasnt around more often for you. We will hook up on the next trip. Again another solid brother with good intentions. Nice meeting FatMan and Roberto thanks to you.
Tom Jackin. Brother in arms. Sorry you were MIA for most of my trip. It is always a pleasure to hang out with you. Thank god we got the uck out of HK that night. Thank god we just missed the raid in CC. We had luck on our side.
I really dig Tijuana. I am so sorry to be leaving early. Really pissing me off.
My next trip will be in late in September early October. Where? I have no idea yet. Birthday plus national elections means escaping gringolandia once again.
2 days left. Will hit IT hard. Whatever IT is.
