Storage in Medellin? Any suggestions?
Curious if anyone has experience with "public" pay storage in Medellin for luggage / other small stuff? Does it exist, where, and any thought on the cost (s)?
I am familiar with porteros and private apartments "renting" some space in their storage but just wondered if anything similiar to public storage (by the month) exists in Medellin / with guards or supervision.
Thanks,
Muktar
Envigado flat $250 a week
I've been offered a rather nice flat (three bedrooms) in Envigado for 250 USD a week. On calle 48, around 8-9 km from Parque Lleras.
Could and should the rent be cheaper?
I could also rent a single bedroom with its own bathroom but would have to share the kitchen. Plus the uncertainty of the people that would or would not stay in the other bedrooms (doors do have locks on them).
EL Castillo vs Medellin Plaza (main)
You need to stay at El Castillo on your next trip. Walking up that hill to the house everyday for a week would easily burn off about 10lbs!
I moved this from the MDE reports thread. I think it is more appropriate here.
I prefer El Castillo also but I would say that the experience of these two locations is totally different and one needs to be sure. Yes, I understand the joke about loosing 10lbs :-)
Personally, I would not recommend staying at El Castillo if you are new to MDE and the main reason you are staying at Mansion is to meet chicas and to meet / hang out with like minded gringos. El Castillo is quite and chicas do not go there for english language courses. There is no bar at El Castillo. Guys that voluntarily stay at El Castillo are mostly experienced mongers that like to keep a low profile and are less forthcoming with information. Last time I stayed there, one guy had a beauty with him. When I asked him who she is and where he found her, he would not tell me. He was not unfriendly or anything. Just indifferent. I thought that was a bit unusual. The next day I noticed that attitude is the norm. There were four guys eating breakfast without talking to each other. You won't see that at the main Plaza.
The guys that stay at the main plaza tend to be more extroverted, want to party, share info, take you on tours, teach you basic spanish, be willing to be your wing man etc.
The above is based on my personal experience and I have stayed at both locations several times. I love the staff at both locations and I think they are the best part of staying at the Plaza / El Castillo.
These days, when I am solo, I stay in apartments (Poblado rentals) and if I have a newbie friend with me, we stay at the mansion at least for a few days. I know it is counter intuitive.
