Top of the evening to ye... Basketcase
Howaya!
Meself and Mr. C have a particular fondness for World over Oase! We were in Oase one Saturday night in June, and bethehokey we did find the place to be very very crowded venue, at least up until 23:00. After that it did get a bit quieter and a good time was had by all!
The food in World is far superior as are the facilities. The line up in World is slightly worse, mainly because of an over-preponderance of Rumanian and Bulgarian girls... but they too do have their charms :-)
However, after saying all that, I can think of worse places to spend an evening than Oase and it still remains a very good choice.
So in short... we will be in the area on the 28th & 29th August and will definitely travel north on the 30th. Goldentime is definitely on our list :-)
Perhaps we should consider meeting up at some stage!?!
Top of the morning to you AronJoseph,
Okay, so you are staying closer to World that weekend. Kein problem. I will be closer to Oase and maybe if I hire a car I will make a jaunt to Golden Time. I also have an alternative to visit Berlin too to sample the roof terrace and bang a girl on the top of Artemis.
So I have several choices. Current plan is Oase though.
I do hope the line up is good then as if not like I said, it will be a low scoring trip which is tilted in favour of relaxing in the wellness facilities than in the CDLs. This is why staying with the super clubs with the facilities and food is preferred. I know that the Oase food is bollocks and that Palace and World food is better with Palace having the edge but I like the Oase line up the best.
Oase I am told has had a new chef now for the last 6 months and supposedly the food at Oase has improved. The silly thing is that I have been visiting Oase for the last 6 months too and I have not noticed the difference compared to the previous 6 months. LOL.
Re: Hotels during Messe events
The only thing that sometimes keeps me away from F'furt during Messezeit is high hotel rates. If you have a way around that or way locked into a deal, then you should be fine.
I'm a little behind in reading this thread but if you happen to be in or have a trip to Frankfurt when the hotels are full or very expensive, there are alternatives not too far out of the city. During the auto show I stayed at the ship hotel in Höchst. It's about a 15 minute walk to the river from the S-Bahn station. It might be a little warm during summer. I'm not sure they have AC but it's a unique hotel and it's interesting to see the river traffic passing by from your room or from restaurant bar. Rooms are extremely small...

During the Buchmesse I've stayed at a hotel in Gelnhausen. It's a direct 30 minute train ride from the Frankfurt Hbf. One hotel is an easy ten minute walk from the Gelhnhausen Bhf

A little further away in another direction but still walkable (10-15 minutes) is the Grimmelshausen Hotel which is the building where the German author Grimmelshausen was born. It's a nice family-run hotel.

So, there are three very unique but reasonably priced hotels you can have as alternatives during Messe events. I'm partial to the hotels in Gelnhausen especially the BurgMühle though it's slightly more expensive than the Grimmelshausen. The Burgmühle is an easy walk to the Bhf and the 30 minute train ride is nice and relaxing. If you're staying in the area for awhile, check the price of the weekly ticket which may save you some money over repeatedly buying one-tickets.
