We should move on, don't you think?
"By her own testimony". This is a strange one. Sounds legalistic or from the past. Could be a literal translation from some other language. I am not sure if this is part of hiding his identity or instead would give it away. Never saw a normal English speaker use this phrase.
I will be at Sharks on Sunday and I think Yakob will recognise me, if present, and maybe say hello. Yakob and Indi reported seeing me at World before but maybe didn't know till they read my report. Eventually I might understand, but he probably doesn't want his nationality broadcast, understandably.
"By his / her / my / their (whatever) own testimony" is a standard idiomatic phrase that is well-known and used by any native English speaker. It is not out of date or reflective of anything in particular.
I suggest those who are not native English speakers will not recognise the "native tone" of natural English speakers. Same for German, Dutch or Thai or whatever language, even Swedish! LOL.
Anyway, we should move this discussion back to more relavant and important subjects, no? I find it extremely uncomfortable (and unfair) to make multiple posts about another member's possible nationality, etc. The point has been made that nobody should "take the [CodeWord140]" (another idiomatic phrase) by purposely mis-using bad grammer or purposely mis-spell words because of some hidden agenda. So let's leave this guy alone and move on, that's what I say. He's a great guy and a fantastic poster and we should all respect him and everybody else who chooses to share their views / info.
O
