Confusion and Clearance about Moldova / Moldavia
Damn it! Why the hell doesn't somebody with some good language skills and an understanding of geopolitical history just ask one of these tutes about this damn thing directly so that we can settle this inquiry once and for all!
'Moldova' and 'Moldavia' are synonymous terms depicting one and the same region which has been torn apart by history – the western part lays in Romania and the eastern part (also known as Bessarabia) constitutes the Republic of Moldova. That eastern part had been snatched from Romania and occupied by the Soviets in summer 1940 and subsequently converted into the Soviet Republic of Moldova (which became independent as the Soviet Union came to an end and experienced a further split due to the artificially settled Russian minority – thus came about the state of Transnistria with its capital at Tiraspol).
Moldova / Moldavia is one and the same region which encompasses the eastern part of Romania as well as the Republic of Moldova. To make it a little bit more complicated, keep in mind that in the Republic of Moldova there is a Russian minority which doesn't speak Romanian at all. Some girls from Moldova you may encounter could well be Slaves and no Latin Romanians.
Geographical terms:
Romanian: Moldova. Refers to Eastern Romania as well as Bessarabia / Republic Moldova (that's the only original and right term)
English: Moldavia. According to Wikipedia refers to both parts and according to Lonely Planet refers to Eastern Romania only
Moldova. According to Wikipedia as well as Lonely Planet refers to Republic Moldova only.
German: Moldau. Refers to Eastern Romania, Moldawien. Refers to Republic Moldova.
Dear gents, distorting and giving nuances in different languages to the one and the same thing is NON-SENSE! There is no any conceptual difference between the two parts of the same Romanian region which unfortunately, as I mentioned above, has been torn apart by history. If a girl asserts to be from 'Moldova' or 'Moldavia' (sounds like a mixture of the English and German terms) just ask her where exactly is she from: either Eastern Romania or Republic Moldova. Don't get confused and don't bother too much! It may be of use for flag collectors although Romania and the Republic of Moldova do of course have the same flag. Both parts of the Moldovan region are distinguished by poorness, a funny dialect of Romanian, delicious food, great wines and beautiful women, kind of like the Isaan region in Northeastern Thailand.
BTW, there is a lot of confusion concerning Moldova due to journalistic dilettantism as well as to deliberate desinformation. Even on top political level there is a lot of ignorance as well as malevolence with view to Moldova. The politically desired confusion comes from three directions: firstly, Russia still exercises a strong influence on the Republic of Moldova and is definitely reluctant to a natural re-unification with the mother-country Romania, secondly, oil- and gas-thirsty western democracies don't want to enrage Russia by recognizing the Romanian ethnicity of the people in the Republic of Moldova as well as backing a re-unification, thirdly, as Romania is a NATO- and EC-member, a re-unification with its former eastern territory would mean an eastward extension of the aforementioned organizations up to the border with Ukraine, thus coming in close proximity to Russia; there is no political will as well as no financial resources to do so at the moment.
Apologies for the digression!
Maybe Mauro wanted to fix the lack of towels on saturdays?
Mauro managed to successfully put off all locals and then also his Italian friends. They like to eat and drink in the club but they don't like to pay extra for it. At the same time he lost the grip on the girls and their service standards, and be lost some of the good service providers as well. Competition around Frankfurt is tough, Sharks has done a good job regarding line-up and World still is an alternative with the different discount options and free beer. So we will see what is going to happen.
Atlantis was a different thing. Tax issues, illegal girls, drugs, trafficking.
HB
I can only judge the 15 hours that I was there last Saturday. I won't say the lineup was pathetic, it probably still had 60 girls. But only a handful of those I recognized. Was it Mauro alone who drove them out 'on that day' or was it a combination of easter and the girls taking longer breaks? I couldn't say unless I revisited the club again on a Saturday in a few weeks and compared. I can comment on the number of guys I saw thru out the day. It was cold outside so they would have stayed inside, and I won't try making a count but I will say at no time was there ever a lack of towels.
Plenty of towels at Oase on a Saturday you say? Somethings not right here.
