I thought there was supposed to be a La Sirena in Sosua?
The area on Route 5 where all of the construction has been going on, produced a shopping center but it aint no La Sirena. It's called Super Pola. The place must have had their grand opening today. I went there with a buddy and as fast as we squeezed our way in, we squeezed our way back out. The place was mad packed with shoppers. The parking lot was kinda small, especially compared to La Sirena in PP. Cars and a shitload of motorcycles filled up the lot. In the store, people were lined up and down each isle just to get to the registers. It appeared mostly dominican shoppers in the store. Several small business stations were in the front. Like Claro. Overall, I didn't get the impression that this store is stocked like La Sirena with merchandise other than food and household goods. Meaning, I don't think you are going to be buying a television there.
Just about every shopping cart was full at each register. Had me wondering if some storm was coming and people needed to stock up? Or were the grand opening prices so low, it made sense to get as much as you can? Had me wondering where did all of these people come from?
LV and Micheal Kors store in PP ans Sosua
A chica working at BB told me that her friend set up a store at her home. She bought Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and other expensive labels at Santo Domingo, and resold them to chicas at Sosua and Puerto Plata. Not sure it is true though. Cannot believe this business model can actually work out.
