Thailand has to be at least 30% or MORE then South America! Hotel Rooms $15 on the level of a Holiday Inn. Tailored made Suits $65 Punany from $10 all night long!
Hell even the Air Fare from LAX to BKK, 9 out of 10 times it is cheaper then flying to South America! But IMHO Thai girls don't even touch Latinas!
And did someone say somthing? Looks as if someone is waking up his sleeper cells!
To all you experienced travelers:
What is the best way to spend 14 days? Travel to 1 Central American country, or make the tour to Columbia, Brazil, Central America? Or simply to 1 country: Thailand, Phillipines or Indonesia?
In reviewing all the great posts, I LOVE BEST the tall, olive skin women of Brazil & Columbia. But like most of you, I like just about everything. My past experienced were 4 trips to Costa Rica, so I am not a complete novice, but defintely not the experienced you all have.
Please help me with your experienced inputs. Any PM and/or US phone# to chat will be appreciated.
I Will Be In Floridablanca And Bucaramanga From May The 4th To May The 31st. My Fiancee And I Are Planning To Get Married While I Am There.
I just booked my trip and will be in Cartagena from August 1st through the 6th. I am going solo if anyone wants to hook up and do a little mongering or grab a drink.
Sept. 1-5 in MDE for me.
I'll be in Cartagena & Baranquilla June 16-25 on the way home from 8 days in Peru.
I'll be traveling alone and a little apprehensive about my first trip and no wingman. I have conversations going with a couple Amigos.com ladies and will be checking out the P4P scene in both cities.
Any advice or anyone want to hook up?

Best bet would be the quick in and out places - the casas that have hourly rates - just get a 2 hour window of freedom and off you go.
It seems the COPA flights to Medellin have about a 9 hour layover in Panama... is that enough time to get somewhere for a quick one?
You should have time to get Laid at least three times.

Yes, you will need to collect your luggage in Bogota and clear customs after passing through immigration. Same deal as when entering the US: you need to clear customs at the first port of entry.
There is a free shuttle bus that runs from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. To be honest, I'm not sure if you check-in your luggage at a kiosk in the international terminal or if you bring it with you on board the shuttle bus. Maybe someone else can answer that question definitively.
In JULY my friend and I are headed south for vacation from the grueling life at web startups. New to Colombia, but am a veteran of SEA (Thai, Indo, Sing, Malay, Cambo). Anyone up for drinks? Very interested bribing old hands with strong drink in exchange for a brain-dump about the CTG/Colombia scene.
Cheers!

Last night I flew Avianca JFK-BOG and connected to Medellin. I checked one bag in New York and was shocked when the agent told me I DIDN'T have to clear customs in BOG, that my bag would be forwarded to Medellin.
So when I got off the plane in BOG, I cleared immigration first and then had my carry-on bags screened (went pretty quickly) and then walked about 100 yards to get to the shuttle bus that takes you to the regional terminal.
As I was carrying a ridiculous amout of liquor that I picked up at duty-free at JFK (seven bottles) I used a porter to bring my carry-on stuff from immigration to the bus. Worked out great as he even found a large bag to consolidate all my bottles, although it made it harder to carry. A pilot who was on the shuttle bus said he could have them hand-check my bottles if I invited him to the party. I told him every night's a party at my place and I'll be damned if he didn't have one of the cargo guys load the bottles carefully and then personally made sure I got them in Medellin, since I had no claim number.
After collecting my checked-in bag in Medellin, I did technically clear customs as my bag had a green tag so I was directed to the one customs guy on duty. He asked me if I had more than USD10,000, didn't pat me down (first time I didn't get patted down in MDE) and then told me to exit. Entering MDE is a lot more lax when transiting thru BOG.
My confusion probably arose from the fact that I previously flew Continental from EWR-BOG and had to retrieve my checked luggage and clear customs before connecting with Avianca to MDE. So when you fly Avianca, they'll check your bag all the way thru and you clear customs at your final destination.
Sorry about the confusion
thanks for your advice,it is all very confusing,i guess it depends on the airline you fly into Colombia with, but i am still not 100% sure if i should get my bags in Bogota!,where is the bus to the next terminal? I know the layout of the airport,i would be greatful for any help
