GF Hotel ...well sort of !
[QUOTE=Ze Gato][QUOTE=Satyr9]No end of questions:
Any recommendations of a GF hotel, pool where it is pleasant to hang, swim and read, walking distance from trim central and around 80 dollars a night?

Well I have had some pretty good success at the Boulevard
Down the road from the University & past the Grosvenor.
Owned by the same people as the 680 - this is totally different.
Set in gardens - there is a pool and the usual ammenities.
Internet is in a cybercafe at the hotel (open till 9pm) but is pretty expensive.
No wireless of yet.
Resteraunt is okay ...by Nairobi standards.
Rooms are not 5 star standards (fan yes - aircon no,) but are clean & pleasant, with balcony (in 1st & 2nd floor) or door to garden....
This place cost me about $80 for a single room (2 sep beds) last time I was there - althought the Ksh rate will probably have put the $ rate up.
Now as per the GF part - it works like this:
If you have a room on the 1st or 2nd floor - entrance is only via reception - and so a "guest" needs to be registered ... and paid for.
Now if you are planning on "entertaining" quite often - book a double room.
This costs more of course .. but saves the registration and paying the difference when all you are interested in is getting her up to your room asap!
The other alternative .... is to get a garden room - or ground floor room.
The access to these rooms is not via reception - and I must admit that I have sneaked a few ladies in this way.
One thing to note - to get out of the hotel - your lady guest needs to present a "pass" (ie indication that she has been registered / paid for) - at the front gate - even if she is in a taxi.
Now - this she can get no problem if she has been registered & you have paid the guest fee - but if she has been sneaked in - then:
a) You don't care really to much about her - so you leave her to her own resources to sort it out with the guard on the gate
b) You are the sentimental type - so you leave together in a taxi
c) You are holier than the pope - so you get a guest pass at the reception
Have fun!

It's as if I were coming to Nairobi other than to monger...
Thanks for all on their recommendations.
Here is my dilemma. Want inexpensive and girl friendly and central. But also want the ability to chill by a pool and work out (exercise junkie).
VERY hard to combine on the cheap , I see.
Question: Anyone envisage any difficulty staying at a place like the Terminal and using facilities at a place like the Hilton (either by paying or not as a non-guest)?
Thanks again.
