Hell, I thought there were a lot of shady mongers in Sosua. But BC; damn.
I fit right in! :)
Hell, I thought there were a lot of shady mongers in Sosua. But BC; damn.
I fit right in! :)
Oh, I made friends too!
For those Sosua vets that might remember crazy ass Patricia; she is now working in Boca Chica.
Logistics:
Flight:
I flew American round trip from San Diego to Santo Domingo for $730 and some change.
Airport taxis:
I met a women on the plane that had a house near Santo Domingo. Her boyfriend was picking her up at the airport and they offered me a ride to my hotel in BC. So of course, I bought them a round or two when we got to BC. I tried to give her some gas money, but she refused. Returning to the airport, the hotel called me a taxi and it cost $30.
Money:
I had a lot of pesos left over from Sosua, so that helped. The next day I used one of the cambios on the strip and got a rate of 46.6 to 1 US. When I ran out of dollars / pesos, I abused the ATMs.
Hotel:
I stayed at Hotel Garant & Suites. Got one of the suites for $83 per night. There are many cheaper and closer places, but because it was my first time in BC, I just booked that hotel. I liked the place. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Communication:
Because I have the T-Mobile North American plan, life was quite easy. My plan gave me unlimited data at 2 G speed, calls at 20 cents per minute, and free texts. Thus, I started using WhatsApp on my regular phone. I started chatting with chicas before I left. As long as I had a WiFi signal, WhatsApp was free of charge. I was chatting on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Skype; including video calls for no charge whatsoever.
Transportation:
No need for other transportation, everything was in walking distance.
Safety:
I felt completely safe walking around the entire visit. Just beware of the hardcore chicas and their roaming hands.
My old friend:
Mr. Gogo came out to BC and it was great to see him again. Even though I lost him on the first night, I saw him a couple of days later when he returned from Sosua. We spent most of one evening outside the Piano Bar, and then we took the girls to El Batey. The next day he introduced me to his friend Carlos that worked at Paradise, a beach place. We enjoyed just hanging out and watching the world past in front of us. We chatted about retirement and the next chapter in life. It was good to catch-up with him.
Food:
I ate at a few restaurants; here are my thoughts:
Agua why Sal. Good, next to the Piano Bar (ate there a few times).
Boat House. Very good.
Paradise. Good, on the beach.
Hotel. Good breakfast.
Across El Batey, there was a deserted beach bar where me and the future wife had the place to ourselves. She ordered the fish and I got some chicken. The place was so surreal and quiet, and dark to boot. It was the best meal that I had because of the company and atmosphere.
Hell, I don't remember eating anywhere else.
The stray dogs:
It seems all over the Caribbean, Central and South America, stray dogs are discarded as trash; it's quite sad. One night I was eating at Agua why Sal, and this stray dog comes up to my table and the girl that I was with was about to throw something at the dog. I stopped her and reminded her that the pup was hungry and didn't have a home or family; she restrained. So the dog and I had an conversation:
Dog: Hey Papi Chulo, what are you eating there?
Me: I have some chicken, french fries, and some little yellow thingys.
Dog: Dude, I'm kind of hungry here; could you spare some chow?
Me: Sure, how about some chicken?
Dog: Hell yeah!
Me: I tossed over some chicken.
Dog: Damn, that shit be good jack! How about some mo?
Me: I tossed over some french fries.
Dog: What in the fuck are these things?
Me: Fries Dammit! Are you hungry or not?
Dog: Fuck fries!
Me: OK, how about a couple of little yellow thingys.
Dog: What are these fucking things?
Me: Not sure, that's why I gave them to you.
Dog: Read my doggy lips; I want chicken dammit, chicken dammit!
Me: Sorry, I don't have any more.
Dog: Chingate! Adios!
The Beach:
The beach had quite a scene. A mixture of families, tourists, and CHICAS! Lots of beautiful bodies passing back and forth. And of course, the vendors. But they need money to live too, so I understand the hustle.
Other venues:
Piano Bar: The entire street closes at night and tables and chairs are set up on the street. Every night, I enjoyed sitting on the street watching the action at the Piano Bar. All the meseras are available for take-out. But be careful, it was rather awkward when I was sitting with a new chica and our mesera just gave me a tongue colonoscopy the night before!
El Batey: One of the big night spots in BC. I took many women in the place, and once I was there, even more come over to say hola. I fell in love with a sweetie of a mesero named Karla, de Venezuela. That chica worked at least 14 to 16 hours a day. I also ran into that crazy ass Patricia from Sosua; she's still fucking crazy. El Batey stays open late; not sure when it closes.
There were other venues, but I was only there for four quick nights. Thus, I did not explore other places; I was content with the Piano Bar and El Batey. I also enjoy the beach place Paradise during the days.
Chicas:
There was a good mix in BC, from the sweeties to the hardcore. The ones I was with, we never discussed money and I didn't have a single problem during my stay. It helped a lot to know some Spanish just to be able to communicate with the chicas.
Having said that, I talked to three different guys that got ripped off by the hardcore chicas. I could spot those hos a block away. They say stuff like, "Recurdame?" I had two that came up on me fast on Duarte and both tried to hug / rob me. As soon as they grabbed on to me, I spun out of their hands and yelled, "No me toques!" " No me des lata!" also works.
Cupid Girls. I had two lined up to meet, but I had my hands full, literally, in BC. So I did not bother to follow through.
Tinder. Surprisingly, I did not have any hits on Tinder. Most of the girls on Tinder lived in Santo Domingo.
My intervention:
The first night I was partying with 4-5 chicas and why not, Papi Chulo was in town! I'm not sure when I left El Batey, or who I left with. I woke up hurting! I was thirsty, hung-over, bruised, and needing an intervention. I went to get out of bed, and to my right, a dark skinned chica was blocking my path. Fuck it, I'll try the other side. Damn, another dark skin chica was blocking my path! They both woke up and went into the attack mode! I had my intervention and it was wonderful!
Conclusion:
Boca Chica is a smaller, more compact version of Sosua. I liked BC, enough to return some day.

Keep an eye out for Mr. Gogo.

That's a straight MitA report. The only way you can get a better idea of Boca Chica is if you go there yourself. Deserves a link to Reports of Distinction. Of course that's just my opinion. And no, I don't have 20 years of living on and off in the Dominican Republic to back it up.
ROTFLMAO!
Dog: Chingate!
Immensely enjoyable reading. Thanks. BTW, the dog was from Boca Chica or Mexico? LOL.
Went to an all inclusive place back in July and had a pretty good time. Met some good people and decided to go back and just make our own fun. Fast forward and I am headed back 2/14-2/21. Anyone else going to be there during this time? And any other spots other than El Batey and the Piano Bar we should check out?
Thanks.
I am confused. You suggest you will be visiting El Batey and the Piano Bar (which is in El Batey, by the way) which are in Sosua, but are posting in the Boca Chica section. Do you know where you are going?
Also, as you are asking for suggestions, why do you not win friends by posting something about your previous visit?
Charles all of those places are well known areas of Boca Chica.
Thanks GrownMan. My abject apologies to Dcgogo and all members.
I guess BC is even more of a mini-Sosua than I thought.

I guess BC is even more of a mini-Sosua than I thought.
Well while we are at it, someone please explain the meaning of "El Batey", which seems to be a common place name in the DR. Maybe this will help clear up any confusion.
While we are at it, does anyone have a preference for BC over Sosua, and why do you like it? I know it sounds rhetorical, but I will be flying into SD in just over a week for a long weekend. I appreciate any advice on how to spend my time mongering efficiently, if you know what I mean.
