Can you explain to me why I won't have trouble in Bogota if I did in Quito? The difference is roughly 1000ft. Remember I come to party not just walk around.
During my 2 three week stays in Quito I never did get back to "normal". Although I did improve gradually. Sex was a challenge.
I don't know man. My first couple of times in Bogota I had trouble too. Now I don't even notice the difference. And after going to Cusco, Peru (11, 200 ft) Bogota really is not shit. When the plane landed in Cusco I could hardly breathe. And when I got up to walk out of the plane and up the jetway I felt like I was going to fucking die. First stop, grocery store to buy coca leaves to chew on and coca tea to drink. I don't know if it really worked but it was the thought that counted.

I did ok at Park City skiing and those hills seem to be the same altitude. I think stuff like that just affects people differently, like seas sickness maybe. My body is super sensitive to drugs, if I took a little blue pill my heart would probably explode. Is Bogota any more dangerous than Tijuana? Every place I've been someone always talks about how dangerous and I've just never seen a place that I feel is more dangerous than walking through say Atlanta. I finally heard my first direct story from someone I know who almost got kidnapped in a northern Mexico town, but almost isn't exactly anything. He really didn't know where he was being taken so who knows what type of kidnapping it was. But certainly it did sound like one to me. I'm personally more worried about a girls boyfriend than a mugging or something like that.

Traffic
How badly does the traffic affect your time in Bogota? Would it be safe to say that if my main source of transport is the Trans M then I will be going nutz being squashed like a sardine in those buses? Is moving around past 8PM a lot easier? Would the cost of taxis (2 RTs per day) be more than $20?
There is a mention of Hotel Dann near the Santa Fe area. That wouldn't be the Dann Carlton would it? Does anyone have a link to the hotel? It sounds like my type of place if it is in my range of $45 per night.
Still need to do a lot more researching. Just fishing around at the moment.
Thanks!

Trans M
It is a good way to travel when it is not Rush Hour, then you take taxis. Taxis are reluctant to go to the airport during Rush Hour.
See the Hotel Thread.
Altitude hit me for about an hour, only because as soon as I arrive I walked fast from the 80s to the 70s at get laid. It just felt like I was drunk, then I slowed down my walk, got to Chicas 2000 and got laid.
Now Cusco, Peru will knock you back for hours.

Thanks!
Trans M is very crowded during rush hour but if you take the local lines (stops every stop) they are less crowded. You can go along ways in taxis for $20.

Bogota
Thanks. Did your hotel have heat?
The hotels me and World Travel stayed in did not have heat, they just had big blankets, and comforters, and yes it did get a little cold at night.
I remember that taxis werent that expensive, even going long distances bet. The good parts of Bogota and into Santa Fe. But the Transmillenios can get a little cozy and sometimes its hard to get a seat and I had to stand up.
The Dann Carlton is a long way from the Santa Fe area.
The altitude bothered me for a couple of days, usually after I got walking around awhile it wore off for me.
I'll be in Cali next month. Its on flat terra firma. Join me.

I used to buy a little space heater in Lima then sneak it into my room. There is no way I could do Bogota without heat = no sleep = irritable and likely sick.
At the moment I am also considering another Mexico trip through Puerto Vallarta DF etc. Thank you for offering Cali to me. Will be in touch if I do head down. I am looking into Oct (Birthday Month).

I don't think any hotel in Bogota has heat. I've stayed in nice (by local comparison. Eg. Tequendama) ones and none of them did. I can't remember if the Marriott did or not because the weather was nice and there was no need for it. Dann is a long way from Santa Fe and a long way from $45. I think most guy who stay there would be talking about clip joints and high priced escorts and not Santa Fe.

More BOGOTA
In Bogota the weather can change quickly from warm to cold. It seems like its only warm for a couple of hours straight then it would cool off. I always carried a long sleeve shirt or sweater with me at all times. Its not like Medellin, Cartagena, or Cali, where a short sleeve shirt is good enough for the whole day and even into the night.
I just don't like how big and spread out it is. Santa Fe is just off the downtown area which I don't like staying in for my hotel. But the area around Andino Mall, the good part of town, is too far to walk to Santa Fe. There are some casas in the area along with sex venues as well.
I rode the Transmilleneo a few times, its a complicated system with buses going all over the place, it easy to get lost and onto the wrong bus. I guess the locals know the sytem but as a tourist it was too complicated for me. Cabs seemed cheap to me and plentiful.

Heat
I'm sure they did. I never have been cold in Bogota.

Lalo's is closed
I like Bogota for "more". There are more sights to see, more things to do, and much better places to eat in Bogota; IMO. Mansion and Lalo's are AMAZING! I went out with a buddy of mine last time and it was fun! Usually I monger in the day time as my special lady friend has the nights off so that is when we spend time together. With such short time a full GFE is almost out of the question IME. A ture GFE takes a few days / week to establish the trust needed in South America (Peru, Argentina, and Colombia are the spots I have Mongered). If a WG sees you as a one and done client she is not going to go out of her way to "make you feel special". If you owned a bar would you send over some chicken wings to some clown who ordered one beer that you have never seen before or the guy who is in two or three times a week and always brings in his buddies?
There is the exception to the rule and you can find the "diamond in the rough" but with only 4 days you are short on time!
Go to Bogota, find a girl you like at the Mansion, Session with her and if it's good get her number and set up another session the next morning. After the second session ask her to lunch or a quick coffee. If she says yes then you've found that connection and you should be off and running. If not, move on.
Lalo's have been closed already some time. Probably some police problems. I have seen some of the girls who worked there in the Lalos in the Casanova, that is in calle 85? And carrera 15. There is another girl bar in next door, called Lido. Or little Lido, bigger Lido is in calle 95? And carrera 15.
Question marks are because I am not sure about street numbers
